    Hi,
i'm using a lot of your awesome plans, but this time something seems not to be working.
The settlement is "unlocked" and i can open the workshop mode. But when i place the city managers desk from SS2 to active your plan, i can't interact with the desk. This is the only settlement so far with this problem.

    Any ideas?

I'm not sure why it may be having issues.
First would be to make sure the plugin is enabled.
I'm not sure on how any unlocks for quest progression may effect the ability to create city plans, but that would be more for how the settlement mod is configured.

Also, There are a couple of settlements outside Vault 81...
The main file is a a city plan for this settlement Vault 81 Trader's Camp Settlement
So that should be accessed through the city planner desk.

The optional file is a layout file for this settlement Vault 81 Entrance Settlement
And that is accessed through the Workbench Manage menu.
(there are unscrappable shack pieces that conflict with this one though)

Can I safely build the settlement without the wireless workshop items? F4SE already forces power in city plans (by default)

Sure, when a layout builds, Workshop Framework just leaves out items from any missing plugins.

There is nothing really that will leave gapping holes in structures without the Wireless Workshop mod.
You might want to place a few turrets about (look for the sandbags) also you will need a recruitment beacon.... or actually I'm pretty sure the municipal Comms plot does this job.

i keep getting hit by random raids. (rolls eyes) and have a lot or a few angry settlers (rolls eyes) so anyway for whatever reason the ...(blaming NPC's) lazy settlers aren't building their beds and ignoring defense. (not sure there is an answer or really what the question is even)
i can't find anything in the settings as to why. i run through the settlement and See beds, i See defense posts, but ... i keep having to show up and save their butts, refresh a plot. place a couple beds in random spaces...
just once, ONCE. i would like to play a Whole game where All the mods work right and tell the amazing story that they (the Mods) have done for this game.
people like yourself, the whole SS2 team, munkeyspunk. hell you know what i mean. btw i use MO2

Not sure about the settlers, but I think auto assignment has a little logic as to what is assigned first. (mystical dark arts of the SS2 main mod I know little more about)
They should always be assigned to a residential plot though.
There is always manual assignment to a work/training/residential plot, I think they keep what you assign and don't go off on their own
      - if you did choose to set auto assign off, you will need to visit settlements to sort newcomers periodically.

      On Defense:
I do recommend that when you build or upgrade the city plan that you have junk storage defense requirements set off,
Or, if you have enough storage capacity across your settlements, and you had the setting on - so junk storage requires defense - when the plan built, you could scrap some of the junk storage containers. (located behind the door near the caravan plot at the entrance).
The setting is not retroactive, and effects defense at the time of placement.

(I put in a heap in case the settlement is outside of range of others, or is in some of the first built - but once other settlements are at level 3, their storage is not needed as a requirement for their upgrades, and if in caravan range of other settlements their storage can contribute to other settlements)

If everything is covered with enough defense then there are mods such as This Settlement Does Not Need Your Help - BS Defence Redone that you could look into.

Attacks, yeah, different stages of the story can influence attack frequency too.

Hi Gavdaman! I absolutely love your plans and wanted to use this one aswell but i saw that "Vault 81 Trader's Camp Settlement" is required and wanted to ask if i can still use this city plan without it? I am using a collection called "Storywealth" but they are using "Vault 81 Entrance Settlement" instead. My guess is no but wanted to ask anyway.

    Have a nice day!

      Cheers,
I ended up doing the Trader Encampment settlement as it has PRP compatibility which is what I plan on using for my own playthrough.
VFX was busy with chapter 3 stuff, and may eventually get the Entrance Settlement updated, if he can make all the pieces of the cabins and the Vault-tec observation post scrappable it's just a matter of me changing one line in the export logs and compiling the 4 log files (one for each level) into a city plan.
I did a trial and had a layout of level 3 build in that settlement, unfortunately a number of the pieces of the cabins I mentioned block some of the central fountain, general store, mess hall, and garden plots.

Anyways, I added the test layout as a miscellaneous file. Layouts are used through the workbench manage menu and are a one time placement of all the objects and plots - so it doesn't require a leader or level up. Once completed (and time given for the plots to upgrade) you can go about fixing up the overlaps and things that may have been missed in the slightly different scrap profiles.

any idea if this would interfere with meeting Aiden here during the gunner attack on V81 in Martial Law? it seems like it may complicate the spawning for that quest?

Sorry I am unsure if it does,
If you are not far off that quest then delaying until it is complete might help.
Otherwise you could ask over on the settlement's mod page as more people will have built up the settlement than use this plan.

There is a beacon just up the stairs to the right as you enter.
The Municipal plot Comms plans (one is just up the stairs beside the entrance) also acts a recruitment beacon

I'm not sure what could be amiss,
Some things that could be checked are
Are other city plans showing up in other custom settlements?
Do you have the correct Vault 81 exterior settlement? (there are others there like VXs)
      Is the plugin enabled?
      Workshop framework is updated?

Gav! This looks superb, I will definitely be picking this up after the weekend finishes. Recently I have gotten a rig that can handle your city plans. I have been enjoying them immensely! They feel lived in and optimistic. Very creative designs, the layouts are lovely and I find myself wishing I had something comparable for all the settlements. You do excellent work and I cannot wait to crack this one open!

      Thank you,
Yes, I tend to build a lot of stuff to get the look and feel I want - and then watch the FPS fall away.

I like the word optimistic as a description... it's not super shiny/new looking, but tidy - where the settlers take more care of their settlement.

That was exactly what I pick up from your work. In some cases other authors embrace the grit of the setting with visible debris or more haphazard construction, which is quintessential Fallout. But for me, when I play through the settlements you have made I see the inclusion and incorporation of the scrap and remnants as a focus for reclamation of their dignity and quality of living. I think you capture the spirit of rebuilding anew that FO4 represents very very well. Anyway I am rambling, count on an endorsement and a lot of appreciation once I get my hands on this!
