About this mod

This mod fixes bugs and CTDs in the Northern Springs mod by Jshrapnelc. It also rebalances many items to match Fallout 4's balance and adds some new content. New textures were also added. Available in 1K and 2K resolution.

What is this mod?
This mod fixes CTDs and bugs in the very cool Northern Springs mod made by Jshrapnelc.

BUGFIXES:
- Deleted navmeshes were restored (These were likely deleted by accident)
- Wrong texture size was corrected to prevent potential CTDs
- A certain weapon that was causing potential CTDs was corrected
- The infamous dialogue-lockout bug was fixed in all instances I could find
- Corrected many other issues with some of the dialogue scenes (Find Pete Cooper in Diamond City, etc).
- Many (MANY) terrain texture issues were corrected, but not all (because Northern Springs is very large)
- Many (MANY) typos and wrong grammar in the terminals, notes and dialogue were corrected
- (Under optional files) The mismatched female body texture was corrected by providing the Vanilla female body textures as loose files


CHANGES/REBALANCES:
- The Damage output of some weapons was changed to be closer to Fallout 4's weapon balance
- The value of many items in Northern Springs was changed to be closer to Fallout 4's economy
- Some food items were rebalanced to be closer to Fallout 4's food items
- Many pieces of dialogue received a cooldown of 4-8 hrs
(In a livestream Jshraps said that he wanted Northern Springs to feel like a Fallout 4 DLC, these changes try to make NS closer to vanilla)

NEW CONTENT
- Terra, the flower merchant outside of Sanatogan received voiced dialogue, she is now a proper trader that sells flowers and the mushrooms
- Kassandra Jones and Scott Flynn, residents of Orchardfield received some voiced dialogue
- Helen, the ghoul woman at Helen's Farm received some voiced dialogue
- Drunk Terry, the farting drunk guy in Orchardfield received some new dialogue
- A new reward was added to finishing the mainquest in Northern Springs: The Prototype G2 rifle
- New crafting recipes were added
- New Loading Screens were added


FEATURES FROM VERSION 1.2:
- Sanatogan Inn services will be available again
- Settlement attack markers in all Northern Springs settlements
- Many more dialogue scene fixes
- Many more corrections to visual bugs and oddities


BUGS/ISSUES CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION:
- Radio stations going silent (see more under Known issues)
- Sidequests not working
- Some minor issues here and there, as well as many visual bugs and oddities


IN SHORT: Many critical issues in the original mod have been fixed with this patch. If you want to have a less buggy experience in Northern Springs, my mod is essential.

FAQ:
Q: Which files do I need to install?
A: From the Northern Springs page, install the most recent file. It's either 1st of February 2019 or 31st of January 2019. The first file you see when you open the file tab on the modpage. As for this bugfix mod, pick the most recent file to make sure you're up to date on all fixes. Only download from Nexusmods, it's the only official source for my mod.

Q: What is Dema Baala/Vault Z/Cavern of broken Faith/Bailey's bar/Homeboy's circus/The three storms etc?
A: Unfinished content. Inaccessible. Jshraps had plans for these things, but ran out of time and sadly passed away in 2022.

Q: Who is maintaining the mod/in charge of the mod?
A: Inofficially, me, mdkd99. I am managing the original modpage by answering posts, and maintaining the mod with my bugfix patch.

Q: Will the unfinished content ever be finished?
A: I don't have the necessary skills/knowledge to add major content like that. Even if I did, the creation kit is frustrating to use, at least in my personal experience, so it's very unlikely for the near future.

Q: Can I still donate to the patreon listed on the orginal modpage?
A: I'd advise against it. Afaik his family doesn't have access to the funds, so it's likely going into a dead account.

Known Issues
Dialogue bug:

Some dialogue in Sanatogan triggers a scene in the Sanatogan Inn, locking you out of other dialogue. I have fixed that in all instances I could find. Should you still run into this issue, talk to the robot in the Sanatogan Inn. Renting a room in the Sanatogan Inn is currently unavailable, it will be available in Version 1.2 again.


Northern Springs Mainquest stuck:

After reaching Nicholas Barman and talking to him, he should advance the quest. If he doesn't, exit the game and restart, that fixed it for me.


'Road to Northern Springs' quest doesn't update:

You can deactivate the quest in your pipboy once De-Reconstruction starts. The quest will autocomplete once you complete De-Reconstruction.

There is micro-stuttering in Northern Springs. I've seen this problem in other worldspace mods. I was able to fix this in a test cell. I'll try to generate previs in all cells, and if things work out I'll upload that as optional file (It's likely going to be 400-500MB large, if not more.

Some sidequests have proper conditions set up, but don't seem to work. Maybe it's just bugged, or the sidequests depend on other quests to run first? I don't know, needs more investigation.

Annoying bug. Seems to be related to the quest scene of the radios, but don't know how to fix this yet. In the meantime, these commands will work (Only if you have this bugfix mod installed):

(Load Jonsmod.esm and Northern Springs-expansion project.esp after those mods):

Incompatible mods:
- Extended dialogue interface (XDI) - Many dialogue options dont work in Northern Springs with that mod installed
- Bleachers 2 - That mod edits the location above Vault 111 and edits the DC security office
- Qrsr mods - Those mods change all cells in Fallout 4 and are not compatible
(Qrsr and MunkySpunk have blocked me, so I don't see why I should create patches for their mods)


IMPORTANT:
I have not uploaded this mod anywhere else. This modpage is the only official source for my mod. Only download the mod here on nexusmods. I found my mod on other sites. They likely contain malware/viruses and should be avoided.
