LOD refusing to despawn is a well known Vanilla bug. Changing following solved it for me.
Fallout4Prefs.ini: fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=999999 fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=999999 change to: fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=80000 fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=40000
P.S. You might miss some tree branches in mid-distance at first, they are adapted to show the proper amount of foliage which led to (more realistic) smaller branches than Vanilla LOD
Just write if bugs occure or objects are popping in... had trouble to adress all the mailboxes... lol I might redo Highway piers in a future update, they still have wrong colorations/shapes Have fun and don't forget to endorse!
This mod along with "Far object LOD improvement project" breaks the LOD for forest mods like Another Pine Forest. If I set another pine forest to load after this mod, it causes this mod to no longer work. If I then set this one to load after it breaks Pine forests LOD.
Very nice. (: Since I was curious and the question might crop up anyway - If anyone wants to know if Another Pine Forest is compatible (since it has it's own pregenerated LODs): Yes, if you use the "trees only" version and the plugin loads after Vivid Fallout LOD. That works for me at least.
Is it posible this mod conflicts with A forest LOD settings? cuz apparently that mod Also has its own LOD's. but in my game the trees are poping in like crazy
I've never been so immersed in gameplay and walking around Boston and the Wasteland as I was after this mod. Oh, my God, that's great! Vanilla lodes are painful- soap triangles and squares, moving 200 meters away from the location, you no longer know where you are. And this is just a miracle. It's as if the entire map has never disappeared, but without loss of performance. Standing at the Cabot house, it's like I can see what's going on in Bunker Hill, you can see the inscription on the Mass Fusion building from Greygarden, or even from Sanctuary. All these pipes with smoke in Boston are visible from afar. And from the height of Trinity Tower you can see Fort Hagen. Together with Vivid Fallout, this mod has given me a new gaming experience after 8 years. Why didn't I install it earlier?
Makes such a huge difference over vanilla, and even makes a big difference over the multiple pre-generated LODs that are included in The Midnight Ride mod guide. The difference is looks is night and day and with zero performance decreases.
Hey @Hgreedy, I tried quite a few different LOD combinations and different placements for overwrites. I eventually went with the pre-generated LOD from TMR and then Vivid below it so it overwrote. I did this because I noticed that by removing the TMR pre-generated LOD the distant trees looked like bear sticks, but with them both the very distant trees were fuller and had some foliage so it looked better.
HOWEVER… I admit that with either of them or both, I was having some trouble with LOD textures not rendering correctly as I got closer to them, and I tried all of the different fixes by changing the parameters in the config files. (Screenshots below)
So I'm currently following the well-known video guide by, DoubleYou (Link), to generate my own LOD as it's a lot simpler than it used to be last time I did it for Skyrim.
The game is very finicky so what works for one doesn't work for another and vice versa. My best advice would be to try only with the following enabled in this order:
HD LOD textures
LOD fixes and additions
Vivid Fallout Commonwealth LOD
Vivid Fallout Far Harbor LOD
Vivid Fallout Nuka world LOD
Far object LOD improvement project <must be at the bottom
Then run the game, maybe you already know this but when you get to the main menu don't worry about starting a new game just open the console and type "coc redrocketext", this will randomly spawn a character at the red rocket and skip all of the opening of the game. Then open the console and type "tgm" (God mode), "tcl" (Toggle collision), "player.setav speedmult 500" (Movement speed x5)
Now you can fly and zoom across the map. Look around and see how good your game looks, if you have any noticeable issues or missing objects, a big one to check is things like power lines and bridges/overpasses.
If you want to be more thorough you can set yourself a few high points on top of buildings or structures that overlook large areas with lots of detail, save the game, then load the game from that save and don't move so the camera stays exactly in the same place. Take a screenshot and then repeat that in a few other places.
Then quit the game, disable the Vivid Fallout LOD, and replace it with the TMR LOD. Load back into those same saves, you will get an error telling you you have missing .ESP's but ignore it and load in, then take screenshots in the exact same position again. Compare them.
If you've got a fairly decent system and some FPS headroom, a very nice improvement is to change the uGridsToLoad from default "5" to "7", or even "9" if your system can really handle it. Just going from 5 to 7 made a big difference to when textures started to render in full resolution/HD, and the performance drop was quite minor for me, just a couple of fps.
Oh, I didn't know this: "Then run the game, maybe you already know this but when you get to the main menu don't worry about starting a new game just open the console and type "coc redrocketext"" This is very helpful.
I seem to have two options. 1: Use this mod and have great lod 2: Use small greenery lod mods like Boston Natural Surroundings which make the game prettier, but makes lod (other than trees) look awful any solutions?
Latest FOLIP update includes the needed models. Also, Hein84, with this new update, there will be no need to bundle any lod textures from TexGen, as now all are within uv 0 to 1 range.
Love this mod - nice simple solution for new landscape, trees, rocks etc and you provide LOD! Using the best choice option and everything seems to look great with no performance hit at all.
I did notice the missing mast on the skyscraper you can see from Diamond City, and it looks like you are still developing the mod, so hopefully that will be fixed one day :) Is there any simple edit we can do in Xedit to fix it in the meantime - or do we just have try not to look at it and wait patiently for the next update? I really don't want to regenerate all the LOD myself just for one missing antennae 🤣 I am far too lazy...
bongodoctor This is FOLIP. I suggest you also follow the LOD Guide in the Article tab as well. That is the latest and the best LOD Guide right now. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/61884

Does anyone know a patch or workaround for this?

Apparently this happens when the lod texture atlas doesn't match the lod mesh coordinates.
I'm only using this mod for lods, and I am using the dlc lods as well. All at the bottom of my load order.
Any ideas?

Will see what I can do
