Just barely trying this out for the first time. I was expecting a difficulty increase befitting a combat overhaul that aims for incredible realism, but is it normal to be going down to bloatflies in half a second? I get that i just left the vault and i have no body armor, but they're bloatflies.....just bloatflies. The moment you get hit you don't even have TIME to use medical items because you'd die while it plays the animations for them. Even in "Escape from Tarkov", even while getting shot with some serious firepower you'd often have a good amount of time to use the various meds, popping the cheese would often be enough to get you to escape but good LUCK doing something like that here.
I'm wondering if there's something i'm not seeing.
That is my favorite thing about it tbh . I mean... If you had a giant fly larva burrowing into your body like reversing the scene from Aliens you'd be dying fast too. In my experience the second you get hit with a larva as long as you immediately stop and use a blood pack and appropriate bandage type for the area of the body hit you'll be able to survive it. It's an extremely quick bleed out through a massive hole essentially... First aid packs and emergency trauma bandages are your best bet but a blood pack and improvised bandage will also work usually. Just have to get better at dodging larva, when I see a fly coming I immediately start strafing back and forth lol.
This mod focuses heavily on lasting impact via injury, so the longer you wait to apply first aid the worse you get.
I'm still using GF into my 3rd playthrough with over 800 total mods in my load order and it still works amazing IMO. You have to familiarize yourself with all the items and what they do so you know what to apply for what. Having the mod Condition Boy helps a lot as you can see what body parts are injured and how bad.
Having mods like VAFS to counter tough fights and boat fly larvas helps a lot too... Also hotkey mods so you don't have to open your PipBoy so often. Wheel Menu, QMW, etc
Is there a comprehensive list of what armor works against what? Does it check for armor weight (light, medium, heavy), or just the armor type (leather, metal, etc)?
seems like the bleeding needs to be reduced, one bite from a dog can heavy bleed you and by the time you start the animation to heal the wound you die.
Have you checked your Plugins? That was the Error for me that Vortex didn't enabled the Plugins of the Mod itself. Look for gunfighter-tracers.esp and gunfighter framework.esp. Hope that helped.
Has anyone tried this with "Weapons of Fate"? Technically they shouldn't edit the same stuff....but i could see possible conflicts. I consider "WoF" to mostly affect the WAY bullets work and the visuals while this mod would more affect what happens after the bullet actually hits you. But since they both kind of affect ammo and combat i could see how there might be issues.
Has anyone tried this mod with Bastion, I’m building an LO and would like to use both. I’m not above doing a little xedit but would like to how much if any work it will be for these 2 to be compatible.
Bastion is purely power armor modifications, while Gunfighter is purely non-PA combat modifications, so they don't conflict at all (I checked on FO4Edit just to be sure). I use both myself in an 800+ load order, haven't noticed any issues yet. So far as I can tell the only types of mods you'll need to check for compatibility are ones that add/modify armor and explosions, as keywords are used heavily for the mechanics here. I had to personally patch a handful of mods I use in conjunction such as Explosives Expanded and other explosives related stuff... adding keywords to armor mods for proper protection, etc. That's about it.
