Dude....wow. This is exactly the kind of file I was looking for. I did the main quest up to Kellogg I don't know how many times. Thank you so much. Endorsed+++
They're totally, totally different. Mine is a save file with a chunk of the main quest completed so you can pretend it never happened and start with a new character. Or just have access to the best companion immediately ( <3 Nick! )
Xylozi's Alternate Start - Another Life intercepts the vanilla starting sequence and redirects you to a choice of starting locations.
If you're looking into alternate start mods, I also recommend taking a peek at TinyManticore's [Start Me Up](http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/18946/?), which changes spoken dialogue to reflect a character who isn't a parent searching for their child, but rather an unrelated person who still has access to all of the main quest.
Yes, same here. That part of the MQ was always so tedious for me.
One thing I noticed is that you don't take the credit for Kellog's death when first meeting the Railroad. If I hadn't already joined the BoS and completed Fort Strong Deacon would've had nothing to say about me. I thought it strange that he didn't mention Kellog at all. Not that it matters, to me, who or what killed him.
I start all my new games with one of these saves, now. It takes next to no time to transfer a face over and get started. What kid? It's not mine, that was just a dream :-D
For anyone else running into this, I think you need to progress further in the main quest to tick that acknowledgement box. Head into Fort Hagan and root through Kellogg's noggin ;-) to get the quest objects, go through the memory sequence with Dr. Amari, and she'll send you to the Railroad. I haven't looked at the quest in the GECK, though, so I'm just guessing.
I know the BoS won't show up in the wasteland until you exit Fort Hagen through the door--to get around that for alternate start purposes, I COC'd to the starting locations.
I assume you're referring to one of three such mods, Arthmoor's Live Another Life - Alternate Start, Syclonix's Random Alternate Start or Elvis Martini's Skyrim Unbound. There are others, but those are the "big three."
I would love a true alternate start, where you could begin at new character creation, skip or delay the main quest, and create a character entirely separate from the grieving vault dweller. But that just isn't possible until we have the GECK. Even after it's released, it will take time for such a mod to be created, tested, and shared. Until then, this is a stopgap measure. Hopefully players will find it useful, especially combined with Animandan's Alternate Start Alpha, which uses batch files to give characters new starting locations and equipment after leaving Vault 111.
If you would like a larger selection of starts, with a perk, equipment, and appearance that fits your own personal story, I applaud and encourage that! Feel free to use this as a base, or create and share your own save file.
No offense Worsin, but that's damn funny coming from a guy who "capitalized (also funny use of a word)" on the word 'Immersive'. Probably the single dumbest and most overused title word to plague skyrim and fallout games to date. Nice one bud.
Endorsed QuantumButterfly. And kudos for being a polite gent(or lady) in the face of douchebaggery. You're a better human than me.
Hey f-ucko, your power armor mod doesn't work! Why don't you reply to peoples' concerns?? Don't go around to other mods and bully people. That is a real dick move.
If you change the sex of the character, will that affect other things in the game (e.g., will Shaun still think you're his mom and reference his dad)?
A bit disappointed to find there wasn't a male save, but still a great concept and a great mod. You're the first modder I've seen that's made a save game with Reunions completed, which I've been searching ages for.
This is great! I'm always looking for alternate starts xD Can I make a request tho?
I would like to start already as a member of BOS in the Prydwen. I've already joined and probably before the Fort Max mission. Maybe start in them bunk beds or in the quarters. I know I can really just play up to there and "attempt to reset my immersion", but it's kinda hard in an immersive sense. >__<
That's a great idea, I love it! I won't pursue it myself--Skyrim is singing its siren wail again--but if you'd like to create that start based on my file and upload it under your own name, I think it would be very popular!
In fact, that could be the base of several different starts; A) the basic BoS, where you arrived with the Prydwen, B) one where you were part of another scouting mission, but were separated from command, C) arriving from New Vegas/ Nevada to join up with a larger group, D) joining the BoS under false pretenses, as a spy for another organization (Enclave?). You might have a cache of faction-specific items.
If you decide to do this, let me know here; I'll link to your file in the description so you hopefully get more players trying it out :-)
quaantumbutterfly, FYI-Grimm is coming back on again in spring of 2016. New Episodes! I love the shows too.Supernatural still has new shows coming on, but will and are workng on new episodes. Nice mod BTW. kudos to ya!!!
Okay, I have a lot of feelings about Grimm. The posts here have brought it all to the surface.
The way Grimm Season 5 goes in my head is this:
Nick finds the vault locked by the special secret keys (remember those from Season 1 and 2? Because the writers don't). The vault is obviously under the world's ugliest castle, previously occupied by Eric Renard. Because if you can't open a secret vault, the next best thing is to keep anyone else from opening it.
The vault is guarded by the Reapers! Remember them? For a long time we thought Nick had killed the last two, because we never saw them again after Season 1. But they were aaaaaall waiting at the vault.
Fear not, because Nick has the Coins of Sauron, I mean, Zakynthos. We haven't seen them since Season 2, but that's because he's been holding them in reserve! He tosses the coins into the Reapers, they fight among themselves, and Nick mops up the survivors.
In the vault is the Grail! Or whatever the McGuffin is. Nick is rewarded with a magical wish! He wishes to save Juliette (Juliette, you live forever in our hearts as a sensible, kind veterinarian. Not a hexen-rage-biest crucified by bad writing choices and a really terrible Tristram/Yseult/OtherYseult parallel. Or Lancelot/Guinevere/Elaine, pick your poison.)
Nick goes back in time and finds he did break up with Juliette, as Aunt Marie warned him! I'm imagining this happening sometime after Game Ogre, but before the dragon.
Juliette is first hurt. Then angry. Then concerned (because she's sensible and kind! And Nick is a terrible, terrible, terrible liar). She talks to Hank! (Hank! <3 ) Hank is also concerned, because he is a detective and was suspicious even before the Coyotl/Deliverance mashup.
Together, Hank and Juliette investigate! They talk to a lot of humans and wesen about the weird events in Portland, and change people's lives in ways both large and small. Some community outreach, some crimefighting. They have madcap adventures! They bond! They do stakeouts! There are comical misunderstandings about what they know about Wesen, and Grimms, and their relationship status!
Eventually they have enough information to do a Grimm-tervention on Nick. I'm imagining a Power Point presentation (Juliette, the sensible sciency one) and uncompromisingly stonewalling attempts at excuses (Hank, the senior partner and big brother figure).
Unsurprisingly, the Grimm reveal goes a lot better when Juliette and Hank are in charge, rather than Nick flailing through it under terrible circumstances.
This has a lot of consequences for the characters and metaplot, but the most important is that Angelina survives, and she and Trubel break off to form their own Grimm/Blutbad team! I'm divided on whether they're private detectives or high-ticket bounty hunters. It could go either way. Either way, they travel the country, and the world, by motorcycle, righting wrongs, kicking ass, and drinking hard. Sometimes all three at once! They send Team Portland tacky keychains and postcards, busy schedule permitting. Tentative name for the spin-off is "Double Trouble," but further suggestions will be entertained.
Remember Angelina did survive, the mother of the baby who grew up faster than anyone thought possible? Remember what she did to the King in the aircraft? She pointed out the window, he looked and cried out, then fell out! lol She knew more than what they were thinking she did.
What was Juliette again? A Hexenbeist? One of the most feared of all wesens of all. I'd hate to wake up to her looking like that. LOL Remember that girl he thought was just "another runaway?" Turns out she was another type of Grimm. This was around the time Juliette had been discovered she was a wesen. But the girl who was emo-looking was also smart, quick, fast and agile on her feet did not take a moments' notice or rest when needed: whether they needed her or not.
Sorry, got all caught up in that. LOL
I used to live in Portland back in the day. WAY back in the day. Lmao Let's just say I was there when the Redskins beat the other team and I mopped up at the bank. No, I didn't work there either. LOL Joe sure knew how to make those Redskins win! I was in Portland also a year before they started filming Animal House down south a bit. The cast was all cool too, but John belushi's wife refused him alcohol and drugs.
