Have you ever considered doing the same with the glowing fungus...? I abhor the fact the green light doesn't disappear when you pick them, and it doesn't follow any viable pattern either :/
Edit: never mind. Turs out there's a mod that accomplishes this that doesn't turn up in searches for some reason.
The glow is too much the way bethesda did it but there really is glowing fungus in the woods at night in real life around Boston (and most of the world, really, the fungus that does it is very common).
Bioluminescent fungi does exist in nature, yes, but not to the extent displayed in game. It's usually very subtle, green, and not nearly bright enough to light up surrounding areas. Furthermore, the mushrooms in game which I'm certain were inspired by the Turkey Tail and Scaly Chanterelle (native to Massachusetts) do not glow whatsoever. Oyster fungus is the most common glowing fungus in Massachusetts, and even then it glows a soft green.
I'd love to see an extension of this where the the fungus is retextured to have lil' fullbright bits of bioluminescence on them instead. In fact, I'd love to see mods that add more emphasis on bioluminescence
I have to admit I like the glowing plants, but then I love them in Skyrim, however unrealistic they are. I can suspend disbelief in a world of mutants and ghouls and deathclaws, but I see your points, particularly for setups which replace all those critters with raiders. I do have one modlist I've tried to keep uber realistic. I'll have to download your mod and see how I like the difference.
