INTRODUCTION

This is the 4th in my series of mods to bring more diversity to the Commonwealth. The first mod, Faces of the Commonwealth - Diamond City Edition includes new female DC guards and a larger number of presets for all guards (vanilla only had 2 male presets). This mod for Goodneighbor aims to do the same. It was, however, a bit more ambitious as I also wanted to bring more diversity to ghouls. In order to do so, I had to find and create new textures. Then I developed a custom tool so that I could use Looks Menu to create new faces for Ghouls using 4 custom textures, plus the vanilla textures. These textures can be mixed up on the facial features to create a wide variety of textures. I shared this tool here: Faces of the Commonwealth - Ghoulish Player.

NEW LITE VERSION (02/10/2023)

Only touches the Triggermen & Neighborhood Watch (adding the new females and new looks, as well as naming them). It does not give the named Triggermen new faces either (i.e. Skinny, Darla, etc retain their vanilla faces).
The Lite version still needs all the required mods.
NOTE: If you use the Outfits optional plugin, some NPCs will also get the new look from the main mod (Malcom Latimer, Ham, Kent, Daisy & Henry Cooke). I do not plan to create a separate outfit plugin for the Lite version.

WHAT DOES THIS MOD DO?

  • All residents of Goodneighbor have new faces (named and unnamed, ghouls and humans alike). I spent countless hours creating these faces and attempted to keep them lore friendly. This type of creative work is completely subjective, so I know there will be those that don't care for the direction I went, but I hope some of you enjoy seeing all the new faces.
  • For the Vault-Tec Rep, I copied his pre-war facial morphs to his post-war NPC record and updated the ghoul textures to get him to look how you see him in the photos. I tried hard to keep his pre-war look as much as possible while keeping him a ghoul.
  • Hancock & MacCready also get new faces. If you use another mod for either of them, just load it after this mod to overwrite it.
  • Daisy's Archetype has been changed from AnimArchetypeElderly to AnimArchetypeFriendly. Yep, she's old, but she's also a ghoul and I didn't feel that her walking hunched over and looking down at the ground fit her personality.
  • All unnamed drifters get names. Named NPCs now have first and last names (i.e. Daisy now has a last name).
  • The Neighborhood Watch and Triggermen also get names.
  • The Neighborhood Watch pulls from the same lists as the Triggermen, so included in this mod is an overhaul of the Triggermen (see next section for more details).
  • I've included facegen data for the new faces. I did not include facegen data for vanilla NPCs that were edited. Why? Because after countless hours, days, and months of testing, I've found that facegen data for vanilla NPCs does not get loaded if there is an override for that NPCs record. Since this mod contains overrides for them, it is a waste of space to include them because they will not get loaded.
    Spoiler:
    Show
This is easy enough to test. Just open the texture file for the facegen data and put a big mark across it. If there is an override for that NPC, even an ITM, you will not see that mark in game. Remove that override and you will. I spent months trying different settings, flags, etc to get it to work and it just doesn't. It makes sense really because if it loaded the facegen mesh but there was an override that changed something that was not part of the facegen mesh, the facegen mesh would always win.

A Note About Hancock:  Hancock is probably the one I've spent the most time on for this mod. I can't tell you how many iterations I've gone through trying to capture his personality and keep him 100% ghoul and lore friendly. The male ghouls have proven to be very difficult to diversify. Most hairstyles and beards clip and don't work on the male ghoul head mesh. And, after using this latest look for him that I shipped out with the mod on my current playthrough, I think I should have left him alone (for now at least. Someday I'll get it right). In some lighting the textures just look off. So, if you feel the same, I've uploaded a version that leaves Hancock alone. I also have a not so lore-friendly option for Hancock available: Hancock by Aurelianis.

TRIGGERMEN OVERHAUL

  • There are now female triggermen that are FULLY VOICED using female VAs (not synthesized).
  • When I was testing, there is dialogue that Triggermen use that reference females, i.e. "You iced her." and "She's down" so it works really well.
  • I created new female NPCs from all existing male NPC records for the Triggermen. I then doubled the number of male NPCs, so the ratio is 2 males for each female. The LL for Triggermen are a bit convoluted, so I'm hoping there is enough so that you won't see duplicates too often. The new NPCs have been added to the LLs using script injection.

The following triggermen get new faces:

  • Skinny Malone
  • Eager Ernie
  • Marowski
  • Nelson Latimer (shared face with DC mod)
  • Malcom Latimer (shared face with DC mod)
  • Paul Pembroke (shared face with DC mod)
  • Henry Cooke (shared face with DC mod)
  • Trish
  • Darla
  • Dino

OPTIONAL OUTFITS PLUGIN

There is an optional file that adds suits from Suit Up to the Neighborhood Watch and Triggermen. This also works well with 1950's Feminine Outfits (Vanilla - EVB - CBBE) (but entirely optional). Some named NPCs also get new outfits with this plugin.

  • Triggermen and Neighborhood Watch have a 50% chance of spawning with Newsboy Cap, Worn Fedora or Battered Fedora
  • Triggermen have a chance to spawn with one of the following dirty suits: Black, Blue, Tan, Grey or Striped.
  • Neighborhood Watch have a chance to spawn with one of the following dirty suits: Blue, Tan, Grey, Striped, Indigo
  • Eager Ernie will have a clean tan suit.
  • Marowski uses a clean grey suit.
  • Stan will use a dirty green suit.
  • Clair sports a dirty striped suit. (will look clean if using the 1950s Feminine Outfits mod).
  • Daisy being the cool lady she is will have a clean blue suit.
  • Ham is all dressed up in a clean black suit and Triggerman bowler.
  • Henry Cooke is dressed in a dirty tan suit.
  • Kent has a dirty grey suit and newsboy cap.
  • And finally, Deacon will wear a dirty grey suit and battered fedora when in Goodneighbor.

Optional Outfits Plugin
A big thanks to Demon9ne for allowing me to use his mod for the outfits and for creating a non-AWKCR version of Suit Up.

If you have endorsed this mod, please take a second to endorse the mods listed above as well. This mod would not have been possible without them.
