nm, 7zip put it in a folder inside the game folder, so it didn't work. It's fine now. I might be too used to the dusty look of the game to change now. I turned curve off almost right away.

This is bizarre, i've never had this issue but the reshade visuals aren't working with my oculus but are on the monitor

I can see the effects turning on and off on my computer screen when I press the toggle button so I know its working but why in the world can I see the effects on my monitor but not in my headset??

With reshade 5 you can now access reshade from within SteamVR and you'll see the changes.

      @javikrules

      THANK YOU!

I was driving myself crazy because I could clearly see reshade operating on my desktop but nothing showed up in the headset.

Had no clue reshade was cool like that and has a direct SteamVR overlay. Godsend.

I think the LITE version is impressive at first sight. However it is a bit straining for the eyes and looks a bit weird at such sharpness. Then I tried the non-LITE version, it rocks! Love it!

Hi, There are no dumb questions... However... How does one edit re-shade settings? I have the Steam overlay enabled in steam and for FO4VR. I have them running as Admin yet when I shift+Tab nothing? The window that FO4VR has up even if I use screen magnifier the resolution is so poor it is illegible. (Valve index @ 200%SS).

Also using VR-Perf Kit. I find CAS 1.0 with 0.6 sharpen is best for me (super clarity! 90FPS), however I had to modify this mods .ini to remove the CAS sharpen. Question: Is that the best thing to do? Or am I wasting my time with the mod at this point? (Also found the lite version didn't feel natural for some reason, so using the full version).

Try the Steam VR menu, lower left corner has a Reshade icon.

Sharpening is highly subjective.  CAS 1.0 basically means no upscaling, sharpening only.

When I try to run the game with this I get this error:
    OpenComposite Error
Hit stubbed file at ...\BaseOverlay.cpp:781 func CreateDashboardOverlay

Is it not compatible with OpenComposite? I use it to workaround issues I encountered with steamvr.

I haven't used Open Composite in ages.  I wrote a long article why it is obsolete in 2023.

uh, did you read the responses to that article? To say people didn't agree would be an understatement.

That wasn't too helpful, but I appreciate that you responded.

There are a lot of relics of the past who blindly believe in outdated information.  As an author of the two most popular VR modding guides, I need to educate users on the best possible solution today, not 4 years ago on 1070's.

Get Virtual Desktop, VR Performance Kit FSR, that is the 2023 combo, period and end-of-story.  If you actually read the comments there are a lot of people who agree with me, except the GTX 970 guy.

"I don't have any skin in this game but I started doing Skyrim VR this week and I started with OC (OQ2) and was having awful performance on my 2080rtx / ryzen 5800x so I tested out VD and it's been so much better."

"I would have been happy if VD was 10% worse than open, let alone better at this point; the thought of not using Natural Locomotion made my heart sink even if the visuals were better."

"I performed testing several times during the year with 2070 SUPER and then with 4090 and each time I got ~10% better performance with VD than with OC at the same resolution."

You will only have more and more problems with the outdated Open Composite DLL as time goes on.

Yes some people agreed but you seem to just ignore everyone who doesn't. OpenComposite has mostly been working well for me, it's a useful tool that still gets updates. Didn't ask for your opinion on other tools. Honestly dude? You're not covering yourself in glory here.

But fair enough I get you aren't interested in supporting opencomposite. I'll move along.

edit: I found that an older version of reshade works with opencomposite but unfortunately not compatible with your preset.

Try Virtual Desktop + VR Performance Kit (FSR).

"Working well enough" means nothing, I am giving out the best possible solution.  Most people who still insist on Open Composite in 2023, simply haven't tried anything better.

How do I toggle the reshade on and off while in game? I tried to add "KeyEffects=" to reshade2.ini but it's not working.

And do you maybe know how to fix the reshade UI?

It should show up as a clickable icon when you open Steam VR menu from the game, not sure if it is workable with Oculus Open Composite.

Reshade and ENB have to be copied to root folder.
