I never understood what scavenging stations actually do in fallout 4
Do stations like provide certain materials for the settlement, and if so, what?

They provide X+1 random junk to the workbench (so 2). Idle settlers wander the settlement and provide 1, but are generally unhappy with no work assigned.

First thing I do when I am forced into establishing a settlement is build the bare minimum and assign an idle settlers to "clean up the place". By the time I am ready to build in the area I have a reasonable amount of scrap (is you uncap the settlement surplus). More important is that they wander around and outside the settlement so they are effective guards on patrol as well. Just make sure to equip them properly.

You could do something like this. :)

Assigned while Unassigned - Allowing Loitering for Settlers
      https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/56514

Testing right now. No firm idea if it helps.

huh, i never understood what made them unhappy lol. but i guess some things bethesda decided to hide away from the player to understand.

i remember thinking that the settlers needed all the amenities in a realistic home when i first started playing, but only to figure out that they just needed the basics and a constant flow of work to be happy.

Sim settlements sort of adds to this idea giving them entertainment or relaxation sets and stuff like that i like sim settlements but it can be a bit of a pain in the but to work with.

Great work. It's gonna add a bit of extra flavour to our settlements.
Thanks and keep it up !

now we need grave robbers .. haha
actually Zorkaz? I just thought of something howabout a Bicameral or Dual-use type of workstatiion say requiring 'two' parts ie.., for example he might saunter over to the counter and be a vendor for the junk he is salvaging in the BACK of the workshop? Similarlly to the way Guards will wander between 2 or more defence matts collecting their defence points?
ahem.. with a bell on the counter to tap in case you want to trade and he is busy blow torching :)

This would be such an immersive plus!
I hope someone who's got the skills to implement it will read your words.

6 is a start, but not compelling enough to install right now.

I guess expanding the variety or the scope of the mod to other stations would make it more compelling. But sometimes you only really need a hammer.

Love the idea! Are they free to build? I feel as if they should at least cost what you'd get for scrapping objects of the same mesh(es).

"Simply adds six new Crafting stations, designed for Scrapyards.
Two of them have more than double the output of the originals
but also require way more materials
      "

There you have it, the entire mod description.
