The Type-II model is now available as alternative to the 'regular' retro/vintage style holo-cassette tape.
The archive contains the Data folder with all materials, textures & nifs that come with it + an Extra folder with the Pipboy 2000 MK VI patch

It also contains alternative textures, which has been split in two. The shell & inner parts and a separate texture for the labels. Giving more resolution to work with. It currently comes with an alternative label texture, in the same style as the "type-I", an alternative, regular/opaque texture for the shell & the UV maps to help you create your own 'skins'.

This version comes with glow maps for both the shell & label too, and is hard to miss in any situation.

    ABOUT PATCHES:
Asking if a patch for mod 'pip-blahblah' comes available/can be created is NOT enough. If you want a patch, these are the rules:
    1. I need a name
    2. I need a link for the mod. One provided/supported by the author! (so here on nexusmods preferably)
    3. I need permission! ...you want it? you contact the author and ask permission for >me< to create a patch, for You. (and sharing with others)

    No permission, no patch!
Can't find or contact the author? That's a shame, because it means a patch can not be created/shared.

Creating a patch is easy. You could do so yourself. But, as I said before in the comments, I will not deviate from these rules!

Incompatible with some Pip Boy models
When I installed this mod everything was fine, but after installing the Holo-Cassette Tape MOD the PipBoy WS appeared bugged, and now I finally discovered that the bug was caused by the Holo-Cassette Tape mod.So I do not recommend using the Holo-Cassette Tape MOD together with the PipBoy WS. I will inform the creators of this mod about the incompatibility and warn the users of the mod.

      See sticky above.
It is incompatible with all pip-boy replacer mods, as far as the "insert holotape" animation is concerned. When using this mod, the pip-boy will be the 'default' one. That's because the holotape & pip-boy are combined inside 1 nif for that part.

So each pip-boy mod requires a patch, to have a correct insert animation.
Like the one available for the Pip-boy 2000 MK-VI.

Beyond that it should not interfere with anything. It is easily solved by deleting the file from this mod, as explained on the description page.

Every pipboy replacer i use breaks for some unknown reason, don't question it, begin going through my entire mods list for another (unrelated) issue, actually read the description for this mod and suddenly realize this was probably what broke them.
Proceed to bash my keyboard with my own face.

Do yourselves a favor and at least skim the mod descriptions guys, you wouldn't think stuff that just feels like a texture replacer would be a problem, but you never know.

my journey with this beautiful mod
    -loved it
-weeks later decided to download a pip boy replacer which had a holotape insertion animation that I liked (pip boy 2000 by AlexScorpion).
-didn't work and couldn't get it to work
    -switched to neeher's Pip-Boy 2000 Mark VI
    -didn't work either
-turns out holotape replacers can f*#@ up pip boy replacers
    -sad
-return to this mod to see if there's a patch
-there's an optional patch for Pip-Boy 2000 Mark VI :o
    -happy :)

A "cassette" you say? I strongly doubt they'll ever be able to make cartridge tapes quite that small, but this is a science fiction game I guess.

Aye, my comment was just meant as a bit of humour - I'm nearly 60 and old enough to remember 8-track. And when we started seeing cassettes and then especially micro-cassettes they seemed quite futuristic - until CDs came out of course.

Hello, I am trying to patch the Pip-Pad but am having some trouble. The NIF node format is very different on the Pip-pad and after I follow your patching guide the holotape section of the pip-pad is no longer animated. I am sure it is my fault but I am not sure how to replace the holotape without breaking the animations too. Any advice?

**Edit: I was able to fix it, I think it was a load order issue as the files in the BSA of pip pad were being overwritten. I added the animation files as a loose file and it all works now.

**Edit 2: Now the issue is the cassette is visible on my arm at all times, instead of being invisible with the pip-pad, it's probably an esp thing though so I will take a look.

No matter what the nif looks like for any pip-boy replacement, the author almost certainly copied the holotape from the game, either the loose one or from the original pip-boy. This could be the entire NiNode containing the BSTriShape or just the shape. They likely still have the original name(!)
So, you can use that to locate it.

Otherwise it can be a pita to find for sure.

I would recommend to always remove & replace the BSTriShape ONLY. (with the entire NiNode tree for the new holo-cassette tape.)
As it might be used (added) to the list of objects to animate etc. In the worst case, the author used the shape only and references it directly.
You will need to check the animation settings to see if that's the case. (Before deleting anything, obviously)

To do that, look for: NiDefaultAVObjectPalette & check each "Objs" if it contains the ID nr. & name of the holotape BSTriShape.
If so, replace it with the new ID & name (from the Cassettetape NiNode), after replacing the shape with the new NiNode.
Check all the NIControllerSequence's -> Controlled Blocks as well.

** Keep me posted please (about your current issue). At the very least it might provide some more info to share for the 'do it yourself' article.
I'll add the above to it as well.

May I have permission to post an Xbox version? I love adding an 80's aesthetic to the game and this will help a ton! I'll credit you in the mod description, of course :P

So listen to me, I think your mod has a problem, I play on Xbox Series x and basically the cassettes simply don't show up, that's all.The mod doesn't work.Maybe it's a problem of a particular order, it has to be at the bottom or at the top, I don't know.Obviously I use other mods, I say if maybe you would worry about updating the mod since there are people who use your mod on consoles and not just on PC!

Nope. The mod is & works fine (on PC). Order doesn't matter, unless you have a pipboy replacer. (that one should come after mine. Any patch should be last (or a loose file))

I gave 3 people permission to convert it to an Xbox mod, but it looks like non ever did.

I don't have an Xbox (& never will) so can't do it or check myself, but your problem is most likely caused elsewhere in your mod list.

the uploader author nick is Urbanranger88 and i not use pip boy replacer
However, I also use the PC, but for Fallout four which frankly looks very good on Seriesx, maybe the mod manager was buggy since I was trying to install and uninstall various mods, I don't know, I'll try to make other attempts. But the way you make it easy doesn't work, in the sense that up to now I can't see the tapes.

Look, I also did another test a little while ago, I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and I only downloaded your mod and it doesn't work.Inside the vault the red menace game has the original tape and when I leave the vault Codsworth when he gives me my wife's tape is in the original form ergo your mod doesn't work, its a big shame

I should add it would be best to stick to the first ("Type I") version. As the Type-II uses an effect material instead of regular material. Which is/was quite experimental & might not always work (depending on hardware capabilities, I guess). Can't say, as nobody ever said so and I can't test it myself.

The original should work on any system, afaict. (it just replaces the 3D model for the holotape & textures for magazines. Nothing more.)

      edit:
Sounds to me you do not have "loose files" enabled, if your talking about my PC version. Its the only way NOT to see them.

What makes you think I have anything to do with any xbox mod? (which i did not create or share)

the shamefull thing here is you expecting me to solve your xbox problems. This is a PC mod!

Talk to the xbox modder. I'm done here.

      "the" is a bit vague.
I need names, links to mods preferably & if you, or anybody else, gets the permission for what ever mod they want patched, much obliged :P

I'm willing to do some of the work (creating and sharing the patch) but I'm not just going to scour the internet searching for pip-boy replacers I'll never use and asking them all if I may create a patch for it. I need the rest of my life for other stuff too ;)

Your google drive link is 'private'.

The first 2 mods have quite some downloads/users so it would seem useful to create those.
I do fear that with the pip pad it will look more like a minicassette. Still gonna need that permission though.

I do however have some 'problems' with that last link. So I want to ask you to provide another, if you can/will. One provided by the author him/her-self although I must admit I'm inclined to ignore that one, at least for now.

I'm using this mod with the Tactical Tablet.  It's 100% compatible, with the removal of the pipboy.nif file.  There's no need for animations, as the tac tablet doesn't use them.
      Also.
Unless you have information on how to contact the ORIGINAL author of that mod, you won't find them.  Their page for the mod is not viewable, it's been removed.  Along with the info on who the author was, and how to contact them.
      Also.
I had a conversation with zcul about this yesterday.  Since the mod author for the mod can't be contacted, permissions cannot be obtained.  Therefore mods for the tactical tablet can't be shared here on Nexus without those permissions.

I just checked both PB models, but the materials and textures should be fine. Might have to do with the environment/lighting. The specular etc. should normally be white for the tape though. But it can show all kinds of colors, especially the shell. Depending on the environment.

      edit:
I noticed I uploaded it with a slightly older version for both the normal and specular files, that last one could be the reason. I'll update it soon.
