About this mod
Adds a 3D model of The Island of Far Harbor craftable in the Workshop menu.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
- A table of appropriate size
- A bevel, a drawing compass and a topographic compass.
- A theodolite (a precision surveying instrument having a telescopic sight for establishing horizontal and vertical angles.)
In this version, the models can be found in a dedicated tab at the end of the Decorations menu of the workshop. This requieres the installation of the Settlement Menu Manager mod, which also serves to avoid problems with the workshop menu if you uninstall my mod. Also, all four variants (two colours, with or without roads) can be built ingame.
The two ESPs of this mod have been flagged as ESL, so they do not take slots in the load order.
Why did I made this mod ?
I was always intrigued by the high number of surveyor outfits in the CW, worn by many NPCs, including some named:
- One can be found in Faneuil Hall on a shelf on the ground level east of the street under a Fallon's Department Store sign.
- On the body of Dutchman at Bedford Station.
- On the body of Helena at Bedford Station.
- Worn by Becky Fallon in Fallon's Basement.
- Worn by Ricky Dalton on the highway located west of Lexington.
- Worn by minutemen and settlers.
So, I concluded that surveyors were extremely important before the war and merit a tribute :)
Also, although the model is merely decorative at this moment, it is interesting as a demonstration of how good textures, specially good normal maps can improve the rendering of objects.
Info
The Island model can be built in two colors: The default one, and the corresponding normal map, were generated with xLODGen. The other is a variation with a green tint, for those of you that prefer a verdant world.
