A big THANK YOU to everyone commenting and endorsing this mod. It was a heck tonne of work, so I hope you all are enjoying it!
This mod has lots of files and complexities, so I have likely missed something somewhere. Please report any issues you find, and I will correct them asap.
Before posting any requests, questions, or issues, please read the description page first and the FAQ below. I may have already covered your concern.
If you are looking for a skin mod that compliments HiPoly Faces REDUX seamless, check out my Pure Opulence Skin mod.
FAQ: Q: Is this mod only limited to CBBE and TWB? A: Absolutely not! Only the seamless meshes are limited to CBBE/TWB and FG. Use the basic controls in the MCM if you don't want the seamless features, or are using a different body mod, or a male character. Additional body mod support may be added depending on demand.
Q: Do I need to start a new game? Can I install this mid-playthrough? A: You can install and use this anytime. It is safe and will activate automatically on the player character the first time. If you are starting a new game, I would recommend enabling the mod after you have completed the initial character creation.
Q: Load Order? A: The main plugin (.ESP) can be placed anywhere, it doesn't matter. The companion plugin (.ESL) should be at the top of your load order so that it can be easily overridden by other mods if necessary.
Q: Enabling Seamless skin still gives me seams. A: Do not enable this feature using the Looksmenu's Skin Override interface, it will not work as the correct head meshes won't be loaded (resulting in seams). Use the MCM settings and apply the tint layer from Looksmenu as instructed. If you still have seams after following the above instructions correctly, they are most likely due to color and/or specular mismatches on your skin textures. You need a better texture mod or remove your current one and just stick to the default textures included with your body mod and base game (for face textures).
Q: I have the old HiPoly Faces mod. What should I remove? A: Use this as a reference: -HighPoly Faces - remove. -HighPolyHeads - keep if you want, as this mod doesn't replace the default mesh (it has its own standalone ones). Beware; the old mesh is of poor quality. -HighPolyHeads CBBE Rear Fix Compatible - same as above. My recommendation is to remove everything from the old mod and install the new one.
Q: An old preset I use requires the old HiPoly Face mod. Can I use it with REDUX? A: Presets that rely on the old HiPoly Faces (.ESP version) mod should still work fine with REDUX (as the plugin name and formIDs have not changed). In case they don't, just use the MCM to re-enable HiPoly Face on your character and save the preset again.
Q: Should I keep using Rusty Face Fix with HFR? A: Keep it if you need this for NPCs and you don't want to use the seamless feature (for some reason). If you use this only for the player character, remove it (as HFR already includes a cleaner, lighter version based on a native F4SE feature). Update: if you want, you can remove the old rusty face fix and use the newer Rusty Face Fix Redux 2022. If you want to understand what causes the brown/rusty face bug and how you can try fixing them, read this article.
Q: Is there a way to confirm whether HFR is enabled or not? A: You should be able to tell just by zooming in on a character's face. You can use the console command 'twf' (without quotes) to confirm as well (input 'twf' again to disable wireframe mode).
Q: Are body/face texture mods not compatible with HFR seamless? A: They are but they must match the vanilla seam pattern and skin tone (like the default CBBE), at least out-of-the-box. If you use texture sets, like Cridowskin for example, that are brighter or have different skin tones, you will need a modified face texture mask (SeamMask_d.dds). You can easily do so by using the provided modders resource. Place your current face texture (Textures\Actors\Character\basehumanfemale\BaseFemaleHead_d.dds) into the indicated layer and then save as 'SeamMask_d.dds' (BC3 formated DDS). And if your face texture is 1K resolution, resize the TIF before anything else. Use Photoshop + Intel texture works DDS plugin to use the TIF files, save using the following formats - Normal maps ('_n') --> BC5 DDS (the format and correct resolution for the face texture is very important!) - Body/head diffuse/color map ('_d') --> BC7 Fast/Fine Linear DDS - Face diffuse/color map ('_d') --> BC3 Linear DDS (the format and correct resolution for the face texture is very important!) [I highly recommend using the Nvidia texture tools plugin for this type particularly as the Intel BC3 compression is poor].
Q: I don't understand or am unable to use Photoshop/GIMP/Paint.NET. What can I do to make HFR seamless work with my non-vanilla skin tone textures? A: If you are unable to edit the seam mask for unfair skin for any reason, there is a quick and dirty way; go to 'Textures\Actors\Character\basehumanfemale' and simply duplicate and rename the 'BaseFemaleHead_d.dds' to 'SeamMask_d.dds'. Note that doing it this way may change your character's look slightly if you use anything other than type 2 face parts. You no longer need to create compatible seam masks for non-vanilla skin tones. Just use the 'Any Diffuse' variant of Neck Correction in LooksMenu.
Q: What mod is X or Y in the screenshots from? A: Almost everything (skin texture, clothing, hair, ENB, etc.) in my screenshots are private ports and conversions and may not be available anywhere. Do note that some of the mods showcased here may be available on NukaLord's.
I can't find the seamless neck option in the LooksMenu Extras...my looks menu extras menu doesn't have all the options shown in your screen shot, what am I missing? Also, when I go to my previous presets I get the brown face bug? I looked at the forum and comments but i can't find the right menus.
If you can't see the right menus, all I can say is to re-check the Looksmenu version you have; I remember there was a bugfix release that addressed this. As for the brown face bug, read this.
I am running into a weird issue with the back of the neck not being fully seamless? it's like a square patch just at the nape of the back of the neck? In all honestly I could change my hair to cover it but I was just wondering if anyone knew of a fix?
The glitch only happen at the back (the front of the neck is still seamless). Additionally, the seam/line between the front and back of the head only appears if the HPFR neck correction is applied and it disappears once I manually apply HPRF but then it reverts on every load. Finally, I am using the StoryWealth collection.
As for the NPCs, I only mentioned them because I tweaked the appearance of some NPCs with HPFR via Looksmenu.
I'm using Valkyr Fair Skin Texture (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3841?tab=files) from the A StoryWealth collection, but I never had this issue before.
However, at your suggestion, I tried a head rear fix mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/66898?tab=description). Sadly, the issue persists.
As a note, the seam/line between the back and front of the head only appears if the HPFR neck correction is applied.
Yeah I tried to get it to work as well but not luck...We may have to do these steps in order to fix it?

These are likely texture mismatches from seemingly using multiple texture mods with different skin tones. The 'recommended' textures mods mentioned on the description page should have all the needed textures to be seamless though I cannot fully confirm as they have gone through updates that changed quite a few things. HFR-included textures should be fully seamless and work with base CBBE.
Another thing, don't use the head-rear fix with HFR seamless, they are NOT compatible with each other.
I tried your suggestions but the problem is still there. Still, I did make some progress, sort of: the seam between the back and front of the head, along with the clipping at the back of the head with some hairstyles, are there regardless of whether the HPFR neck correction is applied or not (the neck correction just makes it more pronounced). I'm going to try not just redownloading Fallout 4 but my mods as well to see if it solves the issue.
Update: It didn't work after all, so I'm think I'm just going to shelf the game and hope it gets fixed later. Thanks for the help!
How i fixed this: I basically uninstalled any skin texture related things other than CBBE, etc (start from scratch). I stopped using Crio and went to Serene, in your case stop using Valkyr if you want the seamless and I suggest using Serene. Crioskin was giving me an issue I believe with just the back of the head for whatever reason. Couldn't get it to work for me with seamless so I just gave up and tried Serene and this is working for me.
All right, I will try Serene Skin! Since you didn't mention TWB, I assume you used the 1.1 version?
Update: While I'm definitely going to stick with Serene Skin instead of Valkyr, I still encounter the same weird neck/headrear bug with Serene Skin Version 1.1.
I might delete and download everything again to try to fix it, since third time is the charm :P
Welp, here is a little bit of good news: HPFR has nothing to do with the damn head rear mismatch. I deleted everything (including my Fallout 4 settings in "Documents"), downloaded the whole game again, installed no mods and the mismatch is still there, as shown in the screenshots below.
Well, I've been struggling with a similar problem for just a few days, I use Unfair skin, I downloaded the 2K version of this skin, but the seams on neck didn't go away (turning on the mask did not change anything, the funny thing is that at the moment of HiPoly face activation, the seam disappeared for a second but appeared again, the game literally laughed in my face), besides, it was accompanied by a bug with a black face and a falling off LMC, the only thing that helped me was to replace Real 2K with Natural 2K, the seams are still there, however, this is no longer so noticeable (especially with the mask, for some reason it works with Natural 2K faces, I think it's some kind of magic). The last time I played fallout before the NG update, and my God, at that time I could not even think that it could be so difficult to put working textures, my ass did not burn so much even when I passed the DLC to the Elden Ring, I apologize for my English, translated by Sir Google Now I plan not to touch mods related to appearance, because I'm afraid that this whole construction of mods will collapse on my face
I know this is a necro but just for anyone with the same problem in the future what I did was I launched fo4edit in veryquickshowconflicts, which you do in vortex by clicking the three dots next to fo4edit, selecting edit, and adding the command line -veryquickshowconflicts then I searched for HiPoly Faces and expanded until it showed the conflicting file, also check for the skin that you are using. For me it was a line from CBBE of All things, try to be careful with any edits but what I did was delete the different line from CBBE and then I made sure that the line from HiPoly Faces was copied all the way to the right that way there is only one file trying to edit the back of the head. Then I saved the edit, disabled both the filters in looksmenu and the seamless from mcm. Finally I reenabled them in the mcm, texture first then head, then likewise in looksmenu though I had to set the opacity of the skin all the way down to look good. I went far enough into the game to confirm that it looks good under the clothes as well.
I have a funny bug, not sure if it's a conflict since I have a big modlist, why I didn't put it as bug reports, but periodically all women's faces end up with ghoul faces its like all woman are instagram models then i took them swiming as a first date and all the makeup washed off
That definitely has nothing to do with this mod. That is way too deliberate and too complicated to be just a side effect. It sounds to me like Dynamic Ghoulification or some such...
Didnt see anything about the Skin resetting bug but maybe I missed it. This has the same issue as your other mod where the skin resets on certain game loads. Any chance we can get the optional file from Pure Opulence where it forces the skin to apply? I would LOVE that file for this mod if possible
EDIT: Found the answer but I would still like to know if you would/plan to make that optional file for this mod as well! If not all good! Cheers!
So yea 3 separate boot ups and about an hr and a half of play time with the new file. Seems to be working well! I plan on playing much more as my modlist is about finished so if it resets I'll reply again. Thanks so much for this and all you do for us!
fyi, i noticed in the main plug in, texture set (SkinHeadFemaleHero_seamless) the paths to the textures (d&s) have forward slashes instead of backward slashes. not sure if that matters or not. i made my own patch for it just in case.
Hello mates. I have a question please. I use cwss redux mod that allows pc to get dirty and take a bath, but whenever my pc gets dirty with hipoly applied a brownish neckseam appears ... I have to enable semleass hipoly head and face again via MCM in order to get rid of the neck seam... is there a fix for that or is this a well known compatibility issue. Sorry I hope I'm the first one asking that. Thanks in advance.
There is no perfect solution, as those dirty textures are just generic dirt overlays and not at all specific to the body, head, etc. But you can use this to minimize the problem.
Looksmenu. Some of its systems are broken and have been for many years. There is a workaround available, but only if you use my Pure Opulence mod. You can use its optional plugin to get around the resetting issue.
thank you for your help. after using pure opulence mod along with skin override bug mitigation, my character's face turned light brown and gained excessive wrinkles. when I adjusted settings in pure opulence's MCM menu and returned to the game, nothing changed. What could be causing this issue?
