That is a problem with the original mod, and not this one. Ketaros is working on a new version release that may fix it. They are also creating their own postcard display which will replace the need for this one when it becomes available.
Would you consider looking into adjusting either the postcards themselves or their placement? I've run into, and seen a lot of complaints about, postcards being non-interactable for one reason or another.
The same is true of many of the trading cards. But "tcl" (toggle collision) in the console, carefully move into whatever the surface happens to be, and voila. Immersion-breaking, yes, but at least you get the collectible.
Crappy. Only one I've ever had trouble with is in the Jamaica Plain basement. Forget whether it's a trading card or a post card. Sometimes you can also get them to drop to the floor by grabbing something nearby or agitating whatever the surface happens to be, but this can also lead to them falling into the floor. Again, tcl can help with this, but I don't know how to account for you not getting any activation. In these cases, are you at least able to find and see the cards with collision off?
I circumvent this problem by opening the console, clicking the card, acquiring its base ID, adding it to my inventory, and then disabling the card reference in the word
Usually it only falls through something with larger collision or if it's under something. I'm not touching the original mod for changes. I too just use TCL to hop down and find it, pick it up, then tcl again once I'm safe over floor once more.
Actually... wonder if we could just...tweak the havok collision boxes to be a bit bigger so they "float" a little bit more above other collisioned objects. I might have a look, but I'm fairly new to modding fallout 4, and there's lots more to break here than I'm used to lol.
If you have Doctor Quench, the option to throw Frosotov Cocktails and basically knock the trickier ones to where you can pick them up exists. (It's my usual solution to the one in College Square, as well as College Square Station...)
Newest update for KT removed the Postcard perk system, so this mod will need to be updated to reflect that to remove errors. Easy to do in xedit for folks ...
Not planning on updates. The mesh itself is free for Ketaros to use themselves if they wish to create their own integrated display for the newest version.
?Per a convo with Ketaroz, the only postcard update was adding [Postcard] in the name. As a result, this one should actually still work just fine without issue, as it has nothing to do with the postcard names to manage its sorting.
No, I didn't bother. Should not impact it, but not sure tbh. Just load it up in Xedit and tick the esl box under the file header and give it a go. I'm not working on this anymore.
Weirdly not working for me, I've for sure placed the postcard holder, have the original treasure mod and checked the references in xedit to make sure nothing was overwriting.
We worked on this elsewhere. If anyone else has a similar issue, confirm you aren't letting sorting mods overwrite the postcard items. They do require specific keywords. You'll also want to confirm if you've got anything else overwriting the scripts for base game magazine rack displays. If you do, it likely will cause additional issues.
After spending some time with @rains looking into possible issues, we can say with certainty the mod is functioning as it should.
The issue here (for me) was with Raider Overhaul (specifically the no AWKCR version here on the nexus - however any version would potentially cause the conflict) as it overwrites certain INNR records - which effectively renamed the items and stopped the script from recognizing the postcards as displayable! If you've run into the issue make sure you have no other mods that may be rename the items. Looking in xedit is not good enough as the naming happens in game, and you may not see any conflicts when looking at the item records themselves. If the prefix "Greetings from" has changed to something like "postcard" you have a mod changing prefixes and thats your issue!
Come to think of it, while I could ask for notes and newspapers they would all look the same and unless you're into immersive organisation, there would be little point. Unless the newspaper title could be read on a new inspect/world model texture, or the heart seen on Pickman's note.
Since they all share a world model, it would take some proper modeling/configuring to do for notes/newspapers unfortunately. The world item is what is moved to the node in the display when it's added to the container. Perhaps some immersive-looking notes container? I'm sure DIY or Creative Clutter's office section has something like that, but it may be a static. Both of those are available on bethesda.net for PC, and if you've not heard of those, I highly recommend. There's only so many army storage bins I can endure before I long for a shelf of neatly arranged clutter lol.
Wow, I had no idea that the original mod existed. I love collecting things, and this should make looting fun again. Thank you for showing it me! and great work on the extra showcase that you added :)
Yeah I stumbled on it looking for more magazines before, and really liked just how MUCH content it adds. That and CAPP for collectible vault-tec pins that comes with custom pin boards is also a neat one.
Thanks for this great mod. I use Ketaros mods and it always bugged me out not having a proper display for the postcards. I used to display them with oc decorator, but your mod saved me a lot of time and space.
Now about displays there is only one im missing: a manequin head display (just the head), for hats, masks, glasses... I know we can use the normal manequins for that, but its not the same (this mask or hat doesn't look nice with that outfit..)
If you feel like giving it a go, I've left instructions under the articles section for how to create custom displays for those who have some idea how to navigate nifskope/ck.

Ignore me, never mind.

Anyway, you did a great job, endorsed...
