Mod Name: The Minuteman Pistol Standalone Redux

Version: Replacer

Author: Myrystyr
Original Author: shoothemoon
Date: 13/03/2022
Categories: Weapons

Requirements: None, apart from the base game

Recommended: We Are The Minutemen, Minutemen Take Over Nuka World (bugfix version 0.83 or higher), FO4 NPCs Travel, SKK Combat Settlers, SKK Settlement Attack System, other Minutemen-themed mods

DESCRIPTION

Hello, and welcome to this mod.

I have come to prefer the Minutemen, and out of the game's four main factions they are the one that my characters usually tend to side with (there are of course a few notable exceptions). As such, I like to use a number of Minutemen-themed mods; one of these is The Minuteman Pistol Standalone by shoothemoon.

This mod is a simple replacer for that mod. It only includes an esp, which only affects a few records as follows:

* The Featured Item keyword is removed from the weapon
* The name of the weapon is changed from "The Minuteman's" to "Minuteman's"
* Base Damage is reduced from 30 to 25 (same as the Deliverer)
* Base Action Point cost is reduced from 30 to 26 (same as the Deliverer)
* The weapon now uses its own (appropriately renamed) Suppressor instead of that of the Deliverer
* The ammo the Suppressor overrides is changed from Projectile10mmSuppressor to Projectile38Suppressor
* The weapon is added to the LL_Minutemen_Weapons_Random levelled list, manually and not by script

Regarding the damage and action point changes, compare the following weapons:

Firearm Damage AP Cost
.44 48 35
10mm 18 28
Combat Rifle 33 25
Hunting Rifle 37 28
Radium Rifle 27 25
Pipe Bolt Action 34 29
Pipe Gun 13 30

As this weapon is effectively the base model of the Deliverer, rechambered for .38 ammo and given a bespoke/branded appearance, from a game logic perspective the original statistics make little sense. It is basically similar to the M9 pistol which you can find here:

https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8421

This esp does not alter or remove the placement of the original Minuteman Pistol in The Museum of Freedom, in Concord. Unlike in the original mod, you will find it spawning on NPCs; it does so in standard configuration, so any customisation you make to your own Minuteman Pistol will make it superior to theirs if not unique. The weapon does have the Legendary attachment point, so you can make it legendary by way of console commands or other mods.

Note that while this weapon is based on the Deliverer, it does not use any of the parts or mods available to that weapon; nor is the Deliverer affected by this weapon in any way. The two are not interchangeable.

When you go to pick up this pistol (in the musuem, or off the body of a fallen Minuteman) you will not experience the showcase screen or sound effect. This weapon is now rare rather than unique. How often you find it in the game will depend upon how often you encounter the Minutemen, and whether you have any other mods affecting the levelled list.

As always, if you are already satisfied with the original mod this one is based on you don't have to download this mod.

While feedback may be helpful, be aware that not every suggestion may be taken into account. Furthermore, if you would be more satisfied with the mod going in a different direction than the one I have chosen, please note that permission is given for further modification (see below for full details).

Please read the ReadMe in full before downloading and installing this mod. For optimum results manual installation is recommended.

Feedback and constructive criticism are welcome, although I am not currently taking suggestions for future mods.

CONFLICTS/ISSUES

This mod was used alongside over 100 other mods, all either downloaded from NexusMods or of my own private creation (including custom patches).

Known Issues: None.

Skimpiness Factor: Well there was this one Raider wearing armour pieces and nothing underneath . . .

Playtest Report: This weapon performed admirably in the field, and was carried by a Minuteman patrol member.

My load order includes a fairly recent version of CBBE, and the Unofficial Patch, but not AWKCR or AE. No mod manager is installed or used, and in all cases manual installation is recommended and assumed. While I do have Edit it is not up to date, and I use it primarily to manage custom patches at the end of my load order. Although I play with over 100 mods installed, compatibility with any given mod or load order cannot be guaranteed or assumed.

My current roster of playtest characters are mostly retired, having completed the main questline and most of the DLC questlines at level 80 or above (average 200 hours play). Your gaming experience may differ if your characters are of notably lower or much higher level, or have not advanced particularly far in the game's storyline.

I am reasonably certain that any problems I encounter are usually due to other mods that have issues of their own, pre-existing known bugs in the game, or the general issues that may arise from having over 100 mods installed.

Disclaimer: I do not play on survival mode, as the imposed restrictions make it impossible to fix issues I repeatedly encounter in the base game. Therefore any issues encountered using this mod in that mode cannot be addressed.

IN CLOSING

This mod was modified using a recent version of Edit and the latest version of the Creation Kit, as available from Steam and requiring a Bethesda login, and playtested with the Game Of The Year edition of Fallout 4. All six DLCs are installed, although unless otherwise noted they are not required for use of this mod. The only utility installed and used is Simple Plugin Manager.

Where screenshots are provided, note that they reflect the settings and load order particular to personal use.

This ReadMe is a balance of clarity and brevity, and is is assumed that the end user of this mod has read the ReadMe and understands that any issues that may arise during modded play are beyond the mod author's control.

These mods are my way of sharing some of the fun I have playing Fallout 4. If you like my mods, please give a thumbs up so others can know they are appreciated; and, feel free to recommend them to others. Thank you for reading, and enjoy your gaming.
