What it does is make the regular bushes/vines/leaves invisible. That is something that has been done by several other mods.
It then places a duplicate for every single bush/vine/pile of leaves across the Commonwealth, Far Harbour, and Nuka World. These duplicates are scrappable.
The net result is being able to scrap these specific things, without the entire worldspace looking empty. Basically you get to see the world as unchanged as possible (a few things disappear, due to the way Bethesda did it in making the game - small tradeoff for having cleaner settlements).
A nice side-benefit is being able to scrap things across the world, as I showed with three custom settlements: Boston Common, Breakheart Banks, and Mystic Pines. Mobile workshops can be dropped as normal and will allow clearing. You can use Place Everywhere and go scrap bushes etc outside your settlement boundaries to allow you better view of the surrounds.
Mod authors will only need to break precombines if they really want to allow trees etc to be scrapped in their custom settlement.
I will sticky this post in a few days so that everyone knows how it was done.
I see that *very unfortunately* somebody has uploaded a copy of Clean My Settlement REDUX to BethNet for XBox users: https://mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/4362283
The reason that it's unfortunate is because I took down the REDUX version for XBox because of a major issue:
It can cause random CTDs on XBox.
This is not due to the NextGen update breaking textures. This is because Bethesda gave XBox players some different back-end files (specifically: Far Harbor) than what they gave us PC users.
When we PC users do special changes, like I did with the Clean My Settlement and Clean My Settlement REDUX mods, it works fine on PC. On XBox though - they randomly clash.
BOOM CTD CITY IN FAR HARBOR
While I did grant "use, abuse, and enjoy" permissions on these mods - I hope that the user takes it down pretty damn quick, they are responsible for busting several XBox player's games.
- I'm not good at English so I'm little confused: Based on Desc, you add update for next gen but no longer support Automatron, Far Harbour, Vault Tec Workshop, Nuka World?. Is that because this mod can't work with DLC settlements? If it is that so, it's fine since I focus on main settlements - I test it with Fallout 4 Settlements Reborn, it's good
I want to add this mod to existing save. Description says i should use non redux version, othervise my save gonna breake. OK everything understandable, but in one of the last comments on non redux page you said: "You should not be using this mod - I left it up only for the oldest of OldGen games." So im asking what should I download to not breake my save?
if you have the old version, remove it. if not make a double save and use one to test if it breaks. It should work fine though if you use this mod [redux] just make sure the older version is not in you load order.
If you want similar mod that doesn't break precombines and has a PRP patch, use this instead: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/45406 https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/77099
Immersive Cleaning cleans up better. However it also doesn't have as good performance despite having a PRP patch. This mod, while a little dirtier, actually performs significantly better. So you have the option of which mod to use depending on how much framerate you want and how strong your system is.
Pretty sure this mod RUINED my playthrough, effing hours long playthrough. I'm so pissed I downloaded this mod. I didnt read the entire page like I'd normally do and had no idea it would ruin me this much. Unbelievable BS. It was fine until it wasn't. Streets turned black, buildings turned green, is a damn disaster.
Well it wasn't then. I found out elfx was the issue, it just so happened that the weird glitches happened after I installed this mod. Disabled elfx and no more missing walls and green buildings. That said my most recent crash points to this mod being involved in some way Fallout4.esm -> PPF.esm -> CleanMySettlement.esm -> PRP.esp CleanMySettlement just so happens to be on the list of mods with problems, on this page https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/articles/3115
I really should've left this mod alone. Might have to rollback to 8/2, which was just before I installed cms
Strange. I used the clean all option, but it only cleaned some stuff in the settlement and the finished notification popped up. Is this intended? I'm playing on nextgen and in a new game.
Edit: oops! What I was actually looking for is Raze My Settlement, not this. The pipboy pics are so identical so I mixed them up xD
Fantastic mod! I did have one question - would this mod conflict with any of the settlement rebuild mods by Aurelianis and / or the Previsbines Repair Pack? My intent was to cherry pick a couple settlement rebuilds to clean up things that can't be scrapped / fixed by this mod (rubble, trash piles, etc.) and use this mod for all other settlements. Only concern is there may be some redundancy / conflicts since the other mods also allow bramble junk to be scrapped. Thanks!
I am playing oldgen on pc, and getting mixed messages here - on the description page it says "you wouldn't add it midplay, so I shouldn't as well" and that it can cause issues, but in comments you said that it's safe. Just to reiterate - is it safe to add (old gen version) during oldgen (163) playthrough? Obviously I didn't have any versions of it before on this save file.
Turned out to be a mixed bag - due to using True Grass and A Forest, and some other mods, it doesn't remove some bushes, vines, tall grass etc. Also doesn't remove some trash in Sanctuary (probably a part of precombine), and paradoxically - adds its own weird vine/bush, that sticks out of the ground and references this mod (maybe some tree or bush replaced?).
It came across mixed up back there when I was in-process of upgrading all my mods from OldGen to NextGen. To make it clearer:
* Do not add to ANY existing game - only add to a brand-new playthrough. * If you add to an existing game - caveat emptor/buyer beware. No support given.
* For OldGen games, use the OldGen version. No support given (because it's not possible for me to go back to OldGen support). * For NextGen games, use the NextGen version.
Thanks for clarification. Do you know if it's compatible with the "Rebuild" series mods? I've noticed that there is a lot of overlapping, and it seems like a lot of the items from those mods can be removed. For example - "rebuilding sanctuary" mod adds an invisible and visible layer of roads, leaves and bushes, and then there's your layer of leaves and bushes below it, and all of those layers can be removed (especially with place anywhere extra object selection).
It shouldn't break precombines?
Literally on the next page you suggested to not use your mod with it, nevermind.

-edit-
Currently 151 … 270 … 391 … 488 … 813 … 1084 … 2212 … 2518 games...
...and counting.
- I test it with Fallout 4 Settlements Reborn, it's good
However, Far Harbor on Console is different from Far Harbor on PC. Some mod tweaks that PC users make to Far Harbor will cause CTDs.
So, I removed all the DLC tweaks and only support the main Commonwealth.

Still, the man needed to vent. Doesn’t hurt to let him.

Yes, best to rollback. CMS is the kind of mod it’s best to install in a fresh game, and experiment with for a while before deciding if it’s for you.
