Hey, just mentioning that using your mod in combination with Durable and Realistic Power Armor multiplies damage to armor by a lot. My T-45c torso armor was destroyed instantly by a bloatfly.

Does this mean, it now doesn't matter which power armor you're using, they all protect the same? Wouldn't that make the higher level found power armor variants only differ cosmetically, and you would be already the impenetrable wall in the very first T-45 you get?
That kind of would beat the purpose of upgrading to later power armor, wouldn't it?

Depends on the scaling of your game, and what other mods you're running. You're an impenetrable wall for a low level raider with standard pipe pistol, but not for a gunner with a combat rifle.

Just the vanilla game, with a few small mods which don't affect power armor like True Storms or Real Dogmeat Armor, the only power armor mod so far being Longer Lasting Fusion Cores. I know I'm pretty late to the game, just now starting in OG Fallout 4 I got from GOG.
But by that logic still, even the vanilla latest X-01 would protect about the same as T-45, outside of ER and RR, do I understand that correctly?

No. The DT scales with how much armor it has.

Thank you for the explanation, and for making this mod. The "absorbtion into the armor taking the damage, instead of player" is a much better mechanic, than the vanilla F4 damage reduction one - which doesn't always make sense imo. They should have done the separation of Damage Resistance for non-power armors - which to an extent is more fitting, and Damage Threshold for thick metal-plated power armors by default. Some common sense doesn't hurt a gameplay, and looks better than simplistic design choices.
This mod corrects that. Much appreciated.

A good tweak while Bastion doesn't work on NG version.

Suppose an enemy tries to deal 100 points of damage to me with a non-armor-piercing weapon, and my Power Armor's defense is 200 points. The damage would be reduced by 100 * 75%, meaning only 25 points of damage would get through. Based on the mod's functionality, I also have a Damage Threshold (DT) of 200 * 2% = 4. Therefore, the final damage I would take is 25 - 4 = 21, right?

not sure, tbh, damage calculation in FO4 is kind of a complex under the hood. your basic logic is sound though.

Is it too little to be only 2%?

if you want different values, feel free to change things under the hood with fo4edit.

Great mod! Small simple and compatible with most PA mods. Just one question - where is percentage of DT is in mod files? Mod work great with weapon balance with higher damage but I want to edit it for Vanilla or for PA mods that beefs DR a lot. I checked with xEdit but got no idea how it calculate DT - just bunch of checks for PA parts and 3x increase for explosives and heavy weapons.

Thanks for the mod. it just works lol and way better than vanilla
But I'd still like to make some changes, since the NPCs die before the armor parts get destroyed. i'd like to make it so that it protects always the same regardless of armor state. I'm playing with the PA frames\pieces reduction mod, and as a player it won't be available to me for quite some time, but I'd like to make my enemies in PA real juggernauts, I like that idea.
I went into xEdit and saw that everything works through perks, but I still haven't figured out what's responsible for what.  Can you give me a hint on what exactly I need to change.
Thanks again for the mod, kudos!

That is very difficult to do, due to how stuff works at an engine level. You really need something like bastion to achieve that.

Is it possible to make these changes affect to player's PA only?

Yes, but it requires adding conditions to the perk effects controlling things in fo4edit

May I ask how to do it? In my modding environment, NPCs in PAs are already hard to kill, they have high DR and ER. if they have DT, they become almost invincible. And it's very troublesome to edit their DR and ER.

Just edit the perk in fo4edit. If you aren't sure how to add conditions to perks in fo4edit, try and find a video guide for it

OK, I made it work, thank you!

And I noticed that you seem to make PA harder to sneak? I saw a record -200 sneaking ability.

for some reason this mod causes PA to be destroyed in 1 or 2 shots on Survival. Any chance you can release a version with default PA health damage?

If a settlers gets into power armor he gets this PowerArmorPerk that gives him damage threshold. But after 24 in-game hours this perk just disappears. Is there any way to fix it?

Sounds like the vanilla bug with NPCs and magic effects. Probably no way to fix it.

Great tweaks. Really interested to see how well this works with Better Power Armor Redux: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/61146 apparently the author seems to believe they should work together fine. I shall test it myself for any oddness.

That mod does similar thigns to this one, and the two should not be used together- pick one or the other.
