Changelogs
Version 1.2
Added a bit more immersion to the note.
Version 1.1
Changed gun spawn to always be a Pipe Pistol and updated the note to give more light on the context.
Has it ever bothered you that the Sole Survivor has no way of knowing that caps are money after they get out of the Vault? This is the perfect fix for you!
This mod extends the story of a random raider named Freddie, who is only mentioned in the game in Gristle's computer terminal. With this mod, Freddie actually shows up in the game with a nice backstory and a note to read that also happens to let the Sole Survivor know what bottle caps are. Now you can confidently loot all those caps!
You can find him right outside Vault 111, inside a trailer. Once you find him, it will all make sense.
Install: a. Use Mod Manager OR b. Manual Install: drop the .esl file in the Fallout Data folder
Yes, I'm aware there are other mods that try to accomplish this but I felt like they were too intrusive to the game lore. I just did it my style, which is supposed to not have any major impact on the lore while still offering a small nod to it (aka the Raiders at Corvega, Concord).
Another note: for extra immersion and a bit of early game difficulty, you can couple this mod with Vault 111 - 10mm Pistols and Ammo Remover. My new update also made sure there is only a Pipe Pistol spawn on the Freddie. Now you have to work a bit to get your hands on a 10mm pistol and is not free off the bat. Thanks to musashinokami for this idea!
