Never heard of that being an issue in Buffout. Might be something with your mod manager.

They have not yet addressed Vortex's inability to handle Bethesda Load Ordering. They did create a working Vortex Extension for Starfield and it does handle Load Ordering (but it's only in experimental stage right now). You should NOT be using Vortex for this game. At least until they update the Fallout 4 Vortex Extension so that it can handle manual (and automatic) load ordering.

If you had tried to follow the popular "The Midnight Ride" Fallout 4 modding guide, they even tell you that you cannot use Vortex and follow the guide.

      KirkH420,
I've had no issues with load order in Vortex. I use around 800 mods no problem.

I was following The Midnight Ride guide and it suggests changing MaxStdIO's setting to 2048 (in Buffout 4). However, this mod's .config file overwrites that value to -1. Can someone explain the reasoning behind this change? Thanks

This one is for original Buffout 4. I think the -1 is for NG. Not sure if it actually makes a difference.

I followed TMR also and I have been wondering about this setting also.
What I can find about it, this is an old Engine Fix that carried over from Skyrim actually.
It's meant to lift the 512 file-handle limit... and you might be thinking "i'm not near the plugin limit"... but apparently this file-handle-limit is not the same as the 255 "plugin-limit"? I don't understand it much, but I read the game engine is counting .BA2 files as "files" which add up to this file-handle-limit, as well as some other file types. Which is partially what introduced the need for this fix up to 2048, as Fallout 4 needs files packed into .ba2 or it runs like a sack of potatoes. However the catch seems to be that you CANNOT go higher than 2048 unless you are on Windows 10 or higher?

*but I still don't understand why this mod chances MaxStdIO to -1.
*In this context, I assume that -1 actually means disabled.

A subreddit discussion of MaxStdIO and file-handle-limit

    Greeting,

I am not sure if it is this mod or the Baka ScrapHeap mod but one of them are causing the game to detect the mod and disable achievements.

Hmmm, perhaps its Bakas ScrapHeap then, maybe it changes something that the game detects.

Installation instructions say to install TBB Redistributables, but they are no longer available for download. Are they still needed?

Probably not.  Late reply bur for future people who want to know AFAIK Buffout says it no longer requires them.

I'd just recommend getting FallUI - Inventory if you haven't already.

Hi there. If I don't have StoryWealth mod installed (I've some of the mods included which are inside StoryWealth though), can I still use and benefit from this mod?

Yup. As long as you have the mods in the requirements you're good to go.

So I've had these two mods that this one patches together and also SS2 installed for a while, but actually had no idea they both had an implementation of a memory manager that could conflict with each other. Had a 0x0000etc error pop up and research has led me here. Installed this thing and it has been very stable so far. Feels like it's more responsive, too, but I run a lot of optimizations. So, either way, thanks, and endorsed.

Thanks for the patch! Tho, was it necessary to deactivate the achievements in the Buffout.toml file?

Yw! Users of my Collection, where this mod original was intended for, reported that the achievements settings of buffout did not work for them. So I disabled it and used a different mod for it.

That is indeed wierd. I don't remember having any problems with the Achievements thingy in the Buffout .ini file. I could be wrong since I remember I used to use the popular Achievements mod from 2017 before I even knew about Buffout. I mean, last time I got an achievement was months ago right before I got very frustrated by how the game stuttered and ran at very low FPS under certain areas whenever I was doing the storyline missions haha.

That's odd, I have only ever had problems with the achievment function of BO.
