    If you downloaded the packed ba2 I uploaded on 10/12 I apologize for it being packed wrong. It was my first time doing one for FO4.

    10/13/ 21 The main file is now packed correctly , please replace that other file!

    The gear is simply awesome, but the gears box is purple for me. Textures are in the folder, downloaded & installed multiple times. Loose file version.
    Not a big dead for me as i use the Components Redone textures for gears, just saying...

    I always pack loose file mods, otherwise it's a drag to uninstall them.

      there is an option to have either, some modders prefer loose that's why they are there.

      packed files bigger than a few Mb makes no sense, will only count against your ba2 limit
      i unpack all files bigger than 10000kb as I'm already on the limit and the difference is minimal
      This mod make no sense in packed format

    I love this! I've always assumed that "gear" was some sort of heavy duty film pully for an old school projector.

    Btw is there any chance you'll do the other component boxes (like the springs) with similar textures?

    The 3d model for the gear looks absolutely gorgeous. It was about time that a brave modder chimes in and fix that abnomition of a "gear"! Good work Sindora.

      That's exactly what they were. Yes they are an auto parts but don't call it a gear. And that was (is) the only gear we can pick up. I couldn't tell you how many times I wanted to put a gear on the wall when decorating and that was my only choice? Nah. Didn't work for me. With Place everywhere or OC Decorator you  now can do that and it somewhat look like you want.

      No, absolutely nothing like a flange! The holes are far too big and missing the big hole in the middle (unless it's a "blind flange" which isn't actually a flange at all but a dummy in place of a flange for blocking off a pipe). Flange outer holes are for bolts, not weight reduction. And kept as small and few as possible to provide enough securing whilst minimising any weakening of the flange body.

      Bethesda could argue not all gears have external teeth and in some gears a series of holes can be applied like cog teeth. Or they culd be magnetic gears, or some future-tech (it is sci-fi after all). But we all know Bethesda were just too lazy here - and elsewhere too.

    For several years now I have been tormented by the thought that the Bethesda
    , led by Tod, is making games in this form on purpose.
    How many people have learned to work in modeling, in writing scripts, thanks to Tod Howard? ...)))

      Lol, I will admit I have learned things I never thought I would know how to do . I have come really far and still have so far to go. But I wouldn't even be on the path if if wasn't for Bethesda. I think they know people enjoying doing it and take advantage of that. Smart really.

    Yeah, Bethesda has always had an issue telling the difference between a gear and a cog. Its the same issue in Skyrim.. I might swap the meshes myself in that game as a fix.
