V1.1 is here with display choices for recipes categories and patches for "Mojave Geckos" and "I'm Darlene".
Planned for V2:
- A compatibillity patch for Immersive Hunting Overhaul. - Recipies / Categories of recipies won't show up if you don't have the required perks to make them. - I just realized I made a mistake while making the "I'm Darlene" patch. No perk is needed in order to make soups/pastries. Will be fixed in V2. - I will try to fix some problems occurring with Horizon. Although it's a mod I don't use and don't know so I can't promess anything.
Don't hesitate to post here if you have ideas for improvements or if you would like patches for other mods.
Thank you for this mod. i was lookin for somethink like this and im glad, that i find it. I was a little voried about compatibility with MAIM but it is compatible, so im glad, that i find it and don't need install massive overhaul like Horizon... Thank you one more time for your work.
So I just gave Horizon a try and though it really make some great changes I had mixed feelings about so I'm kicking it to the curb and searching for mods that can bring back some of the things I like about Horizon, I'm surprised that this mod has a low endorsement count as it finely gives use to the contaminated food that's normally useless.
Yes without radiation poisoning (like added in advanced needs) or the buffs added with the perk "Gourmet" it can sometimes kinda defeat the purpose. What would you suggest?
Do you mean like the lvl 4 of ghoulish? Removing radiation over time? I don't know, I think it could be a little bit too overpowered to have be a buff for evry food, and I already added lots of buffs.
Maybe I could make rad from food take effect over a period of time, so you would need to wait in order to get effect useful from radaway. That's what I understood when I first read your comment so maybe that's what you ment :D (I'm not english born and I'm not familiar with the word scrub x) ). And I really like the idea.
I will think about both ideas. If someone else sees that feel free to comment. The more opinions, the better.
Well it's probably way too late now, but my suggestion would have been to add another item called something like "Food Decontamination Unit" or something along the lines, add a new recipe that turns one radaway into 300 such unites and have the recipes for food contain as many units as they have radiantion instead of the radaway. Of course those units could only be used for food recipes, not on youself.
My good Sir, your mod comes out exactly when I am about to start a second playthough of this GEM OF A GAME. And it´s seems really useful for survival mode!
Thank you.
PS: I will give you some feedback after using it for a couple of days.
The feedback will mean a lot to me indeed! I have not myself tested it in a new playthrough yet. Hope it does not make things too complicated for a freshly decryogenized sole survivor. It will probably force you to eat some homemade dogfood. It's one of the few recipe I actually created myself (I just love the scene from Mad Max 2 haha).
If you feel there is not enough recipes I recommend above all Mutant Menagerie, of all the mods I made a patch for, it is the one with the most recipies for each sort. And of course Wasteland Imports, mainly for convenience food.
My principal concern is for Radaway. I hope it's not too hard to find enough so it's not too frustrating at the beginning of the game. I will test it myself soon enough, but your opinion on the matter will be more than precious. And I will update soon if needed.
Sooooo...Here is my feedback. Indeed the concept is very interesting and makes things more difficult and realistic. Indeed...no one will eat contaminated food without properly "cleaning / decontaminating" it.
It´s a bit complicated tho because even with lots of foods....I still have " empty cooking lists" where tons of variations of foods are needed in order to cook more complex recipes.
Anyway, I like the fact that food needs to be decontaminated before proper ingestion which makes things very realistic.
I found a way to make recipes only apparent when you have got the ingredients on you. Problem is, I can't extend that "on you" parameter to the food you have in your workshop(s).
So I'm thinking of making a new category, "Available from your backpack", which will be at the top. That way when you come back after wandering or if you take all ingredients from your workshop (or cooking station) you will have an easy way to find the recipes you can actually make.
It will be quite a long thing to do though, and I need to think about the logistic. So I don't know when I will have the time to do it, but It will probably be the major upgrade of V2, maybe even a standalone mod.
Hello! I wanted to ask if you have any plans to make this compatible with Horizon? I use Horizon with all of the hunting mods, and I would ABSOLUTELY FREAKING LOVE if I could somehow add this as well and have it work properly.
Unfortunately, it overwrites the Survival trait, and even if you don't have any selected, it requires you to be level 80 to select any at all - if combined with Horizon.
I suppose I could just remove all radiation damage from anything/everything with IHO and all, but I feel that it would ruin too much of the experience in survival. But not having some method of removing any rads from foods... Yeah, I feel that is a serious issue with Horizon!
I also have a feeling it would need to require something with IHO as well... As it seems the rads that mod has with foods is separate from the main games (I mix IHO with Wasteland Menagerie, Mantises, etc etc etc. (To be clear, the mod is called "I.H.O. - Immersive Hunting Overhaul". I LOVE it).
Anyways, I hope to hear back from you soon. Perhaps I could assist you somehow?
By the way, I wanted to take the time to say you have made an incredible mod, and I SERIOUSLY love it. Which is why I am hoping something can easily be done to have it work with all of the other mods I utilize, as I feel it adds far too much to NOT be utilized! Seriously - THANK YOU for taking the time out of your life to make this mod. I do not believe you hear enough praise!
Oh also, just to make sure I was not too ambiguous or anything -- where I say "and even if you don't have any selected, it requires you to be level 80 to select any at all" - I am talking about the one added by this mod.
I'm currently working on a standalone mod that adds a category "Available from backpack" for recipies. I was supposed to release it this week end but I didn't have the time to finish it, so I will release it next week-end then I will look into all of that.
I did not know IHO, just checked out the page quickly and it does look quite awesome indeed, so if I download it, I will make a compatiblity patch. But Horizon I never took, and I think I never will play with it, because it has too much incompatibilities with other mods. Then again, I'm not sure I understood everything, but if it's just a problem with the perks and recipies I will see what I can do.
A patch for the Darlene companion would be dope, she adds lots of food stuff
Also for the Mojave Gecko mod would be cool :)
First feedback: Could you change the categories for the cooking station a bit? At least with FallUI it looks really rough. I'd love if they were all caps like the other categories (vanilla categories are all caps too, aren't they?) and the x3 indicator on a different place, so the list is more condensed.
I prefer not all caps, but the Keywords are all in DecoFoodAllRad.esp so it will be really easy to make an alternate version more adapted for FallUI, I'll make it.
