V2 Uploaded. See changelog for changes.

Important note : This is not a song / music mod. You will need to add your own tunes or to take them from other mods. 1

This is primarily made for you to import modern songs into the game, and add them in a lore friendly way. 1

Reminder: In order to have Radio Freedom available, you need to finish the Battle of The Castle quest with the minuteman.

Features:

What this mod adds:

- A co-host for Radio Freedom, B12 13, a sassy robot, with lots of random comments (127 lines).
- Modern jingles for Radio Freedom (10 different ones).
- A fairly rare special bulletin presented by King Sweedee 3000 at noon (10 variations).
- Choices. 2

What this mod keeps:

- A true random system for your songs. 3
- Alerts, hours reminder, air strike informations from the minuteman radio host.

What this mod removes:

- Very few useless lines from the minuteman, so he doesn't talk at the end of every single song.

Installation:

Use Vortex or place manually in ...\Fallout4\Data\

Can safely be installed mid-game.
Safer to turn off Radio Freedom in your save before installation / uninstallation.

Updating:

-> /!\ Don't forget to make a copy of your playlist somewhere before updating to place them again when the mod is updated, or you will loose your converted songs!
And re-Deploy with Vortex or other mod manager (if needed) and save changes, after.

1 How to import / change the songs?

A – I Just want to put tunes from an other mod:

Here is the folder where you need to replace the songs:

...\Fallout 4\Data\sound\FX\mus\radio\minutemen

Name them appropriately then replace them.

Good to know!:
In the Windows explorer, just select all your tunes, then right click and rename the first one “mus”. They will all be renamed automatically accordingly (as “mus (1)”, “mus (2)”, etc.).

If you use Vortex (or other mod managers too I think), Deploy and Save Changes.

/!\ If you let any file unchanged, you can have announcements twice on a row (because default files are blank), so try not to.

B – I want to put songs from my own playlist:

You need to convert them.

(Optional Step 0: using audacity or an other music editor, chose “compress” in “effects”. Your song will be less perfect, the volume will be standardized, all up. It’s a bit ugly but not that troublesome from my point of view, and far better to be able to listen to your song at any given moment, so you can hear it in fights, below thunder, etc. You can also delete silences from the end/the beginning of the song. The way the radio works engenders enough silences on its own. Then export as something you can’t later convert with LazyAudio (.wav, for example)).

Step 1: Use the brilliant “LazyAudio”from cptPauer :
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71749?tab=files

→Install it wherever you want. Put songs in “audio”. Open audio2xwm-HQ.bat. Wait for it to tell you he’s done, then you will find your converted tunes in “converted”.

Step 2: When it’s done, here is the folder where you need to replace the songs:

...\Fallout 4\Data\sound\FX\mus\radio\minutemen

Step 3: Name them appropriately then replace them.

Good to know!: In the Windows explorer, just select all your tunes, then right click and rename the first one “mus”. They will all be renamed automatically accordingly (as “mus (1)”, “mus (2)”, etc.).

Step 4: If you use Vortex (or other mod managers too I think), Deploy and Save Changes.

/!\ If you let any file unchanged, you can have announcements twice on a row (because default files are blank), so try not to.

2 Choices:

A – You can choose between the 55, 110, 220, 330, 440, 550, 660 and 770 tunes version. Yeah. And you can easily go from one to the other mid-game without any problem, just replace the ".esp" and add more tunes!

B – I wanted this mod to be fully customizable. So you can find“WhichIsWhat.txt” in:
...\Fallout4\Data\sound\Voice\Fallout4.esm\NPCMMinutemenRadioVoice

It will tell you which commentary from B12 13 is behind every file. If you don’t like a comment, just replace the appropriate files with a copy of one marked as “nothing”. Be aware: you will also need to replace the same file in:
...\Fallout4\Data\sound\Voice\Fallout4.esm\NPCMTravisMiles.

For example, it’s actually an English-French Radio, because I’m french and my version contains french songs too. If you don’t like it, feel free to remove the few french elements (Some jingles and three commentary from B12 13).

3 Random:

Some customization radios promise you a random system. But the song will repeat always in the same order. This mod, on the other hand, is based on the excellent “IndependenceRadio - NOW IN NEW VEGAS” by Whybother123, wich is powered by “JRavens Extra Tracks”. It makes a truly random system. It is in fact so random, that if you don’t like the song currently playing, turning off and on again the radio can play an other one, which is not very radio-y, but soo practical.

Highly recommended:

This mod is ment to be used with “More WhereThat Came From - Diamond City Radio Edition” by“OldManMose76”.
It’s not mandatory, but it’s highly recommended.

Why?
A – Because it’s a fucking great mod.
B – Because it’s ment to be used with it, or with “MuteTravis' Introductions to Songs” byDeathWrench. Because I actually use those Travis’ introductions files for B12 13 dialogues. So it will remove most of them anyway. I didn't find any other way to add comments working like the real ones from the game, from Travis or the minuteman. It was important for the comments not to be with the song, to be truly random, and to be said after the hour announcements.

I want B12 13 to say more!

Yeah! Me too lads. If you have ideas don’t hesitate to tell them in the post section. Or, if you want to make her say anything you want, customize her to the maximum, you can find her there:
https://acapela-box.com/AcaBox/index.php
English (USA), Laura, Speech rate +36, Voice Shaping -9

Known issues: (None, really)

- I have not changed the subtitles for the radio comments. I think you can have them on but I’m not even sure how. If it actually bothers someone I think I can do it. Meanwhile, me too lazy.
- I didn’t actually create a B12 13 character for the castle. You can either think it’s just the console’s name, that has an AI, or create a robot with Automatron, give her no voice, name her B12 13 and send her to the castle. If you want to create her and make a mod for it, you have my full support. I will even send you some lines from her if you want, and add a link from this page. However, I will not make her myself, I don’t know how and I’m not particularly interested in learning.

It is the simplest mod in the world, made only with acapela-box, FO4Edit, Audacity and my imagination. Cant’ think of any issue you could possibly encounter.
