About this mod

Mod adds the soundtrack of Fallout 1 and 3 to Fallout 4 without removing anything, as inspired by Fallout: New Vegas. Audio is not included for obvious reasons.

This mod by no means removes the existing tracks from Fallout 4, but simply adds new ones to the mix from Fallout 1 and 3. I also edited couple of areas with tracks included from this mod, such as military installation and places occupied by the Children of Atom. Essentially, I did what is included in this mod, but adjusted where the music is played to my liking and added the Fallout 1 soundtrack.

The "tension" track from the final Fallout 3 quest has been added to the quest Brotherhood of Steel quest "Ad Victoriam" and a questline of the Institute. The combat themes "should" have the finale parts that weren't included with the original mod.

And just like with the previously mentioned mod, NO AUDIO is included with the downloadable content.

Luckily, as provided in "Classic Fallout Ambient Music" -mod's comment section, there you can download the soundtrack for FO1, which has its volume adjusted to preferable levels:

https://www.mediafire.com/file/ms70431zgdmihx5/FoClassic.rar/file

I had to reupload the file to my account. It seems that the soundtrack is still in public domain, but I'll keep it as a separate download just for the safe side.

Installation:

If it's not clear yet, NO AUDIO IS INCLUDED WITH THIS MOD. You need to own Fallout 3 to be able to get the music from the game files, or you have to get the OST from elsewhere, such as buying the official soundtrack from Steam, but volume of the audio has not been properly leveled, so I recommend using the audio directly from the game.

Modified Fallout 1 tracks can be found in the links provided in this description, which at least have the volume adjusted to suite the game, though you can get the soundtrack somewhere else, but it will have the same problem as with the Fo3 soundtrack not extracted from the game.

Update 12.4.2023, VERY IMPORTANT:
So, after almost 2 years since I uploaded this, I realized that Nexus doesn't want to actually upload empty folders, which means the mod structure has been fucked for that amount of time.

Well, since I decided to replay the game and fix the error, what you need to do is make a folder structure with this exact naming setup inside Data folder where you also will find the ESP files.

Fo1Classic is obviously for Fallout 1 tracks and FO3 is for Fallout 3.

Data\Music\FOClassicMusic\Fo1Classic and
Data\Music\FOClassicMusic\FO3

1. Move content of the archive to \Fallout 4\Data\ (or you can use the Vortex mod manager, but you need to add the audio to the folders anyway)
2. Add music to the appropriate folders (Update 12.4.2023: Mod structure above).
3. Convert music to XWM with MultiXwm

Important:
As discovered by the user Superirish19 in the comments of the previously mentioned FO3 soundtrack mod, to fix the low quality sounds for example with the converted FO3 audio files, you need to convert the MP3 files with a constant 192kbs -bitrate. You can achieve this either with online converters or with Audacity, that is totally free.

(Do not use OST names with this mod. For example, Base_01 would be called New World, New Order in the OST. Rename the tracks to the file names listed below, which would be for example "Base_01" or "Battle_01", then place them in the FO3 folder you created.)

Here is the FO3 track name structure, which works with this mod:

Base Folder:
  • Base_01 -> New World, NewOrder
  • Base_02 -> Lockstep
  • Base_03 -> Price of Honor
  • Base_04 -> Fortress

Battle Folder:
  • Battle_01 -> Unwelcome Guest
  • Battle_02 -> Ambush
  • Battle_03 -> Never Surrender
  • Battle_04 -> Metal on Metal
  • Battle_05 -> Behemoth
  • Battle_06 -> Think Fast, Shoot Faster
  • Battle_07 -> Chance to Hit

Dungeon Folder:
  • Dungeon_01 -> Forgotten
  • Dungeon_02 -> Clues in the Darkness
  • Dungeon_03 -> No Way out but Through
  • Dungeon_04 -> Out of Service
  • Dungeon_05 -> The Ferals

Explore Folder:
  • Explore_01 -> Gotta StartSomewhere
  • Explore_02 -> Old Lands, New Frontiers
  • Explore_03 -> Pieces of the Past
  • Explore_04 -> City of Ruin
  • Explore_05 -> Wandering the Wastes
  • Explore_06 -> Ashes and Sand
  • Explore_07 -> What Remains

Public Folder:
  • Public_01 -> Place of Refuge
  • Public_02 -> The Smallest Hope
  • Public_03 -> The Caravans
  • Public_04 -> Megaton
  • Public_05 -> A Stranger in Town

Tension Folder:
  • Tension_01 -> Unnamed track that plays during the final Liberty Prime escort mission in Fallout 3

Battle\Finale Folder (rename them to what is shown below, eg. Battle_finale_01):
  • Battle_finale_01-> Unwelcome Guest
  • Battle_finale_02 -> Ambush
  • Battle_finale_03 -> Never Surrender
  • Battle_finale_04 -> Metal on Metal
  • Battle_finale_05 -> Behemoth
  • Battle_finale_06 -> Think Fast, Shoot Faster
  • Battle_finale_07 -> Chance to Hit

Use the exact same naming as listed here:

  • mus_FO1_VatsOfGoo
  • mus_FO1_UndergroundTrouble
  • mus_FO1_TheVaultOfTheFuture
  • mus_FO1_SecondChance
  • mus_FO1_RadiationStorm
  • mus_FO1_MoribundWorld
  • mus_FO1_MetallicMonks
  • mus_FO1_Khans
  • mus_FO1_IndustrialJunk
  • mus_FO1_FollowersCredo
  • mus_FO1_FlameOfTheAncientWorld
  • mus_FO1_DesertWind
  • mus_FO1_CityOfTheDead
  • mus_FO1_CityOfLostAngels
  • mus_FO1_ATradersLife
  • mus_FO1_AcolytesOfTheNewGod

If you want to use any other audio format, use Notepad on the main addon file to change the file headings to anything you want. (Credits to Asrakorn for this discovery in the Fallout 3 Ambient Music comments)

Bugs:
- Finale parts not playing on battle music, except with "Think Fast, Shoot Faster". I don't have a clue why, everything is set to be ready, they just don't work for some reason.
- The track in Ad Victoriam will play endlessly once it activates, working on resolving this (Reloading the game after reaching the next quest might help).

Compatibility:
Mod is incompatible presumably with any mods that change where music is played in the vanilla game and any that change the same tracks.

Updates:

21.6.2021:
- Added music to Nuka-World and Far Harbor DLCs (multiple optional files to choose from).
- Adjusted tension track in the mission "Ad Victoriam".

25.6.2021:
- Added music to Vault 88 (same as in Vault 81, which also has been changed with this mod)
Note that it is part of the base game + DLC mod

27.6.2021:
- Adjusted where and when music plays with the base + DLC mod

12.3.2023:
- Added info about creating the missing mod file structure.

16.4.2023:
- Fixed missing music tracks (By the way, as a note, if you are also making a similar mod, when pairing custom music together with existing tracks, make sure that within the certain music type you're editing, you only place certain names the type supports. For example, some music types do not support the name "MUSzXXXX" and so you need to name them "MUSXXXXXX". So, in short, make duplicates of the same track with and without the "z" letter. If you place music in such a place, your custom music will not play at all.)

I will not take any requests for any other mods. However, feel free to give feedback about this one.
