The guide is now finally feature complete and has its own optional modlist. Future updates will be far more frequent. With over 50 core mods, 500 optional mods and 800 extra mods listed in the spreadsheet, that's close to 1400 total mod links. Likely the largest combined list of mods for Fallout 4 so far. Now I can completely focus on updating all other stuff and work on my other projects.
For anyone wondering about Cathedral Assets Optimizer, the 5.3.13 version and newer can be safely used with Fallout 4. Do not use 6.0.X versions, these do not fully support Fallout 4 yet.
Just wanted to say thank you. Got back into Bethesda modding after years of being away. Really appreciate this guide and everything that went into making it. I came up with a version of Fallout 4 I'm extremely pleased with. Cheers!
I'm not too knowledgeable on your release schedule but will there be a 2024 updated version coming? I'd love to see the guide updated with the newest mods and releases. P.S. I use this guide a lot, thank you very much for taking the time to create this entire thing.
Very useful collection but I would like some help. There are three types of vaults and I would like to mix them. I am not so good at this so I wonder if it is possible to give a different style per vault using only textures.
Not using only textures no, theoretically it's possible to set up custom vault textures for different things (I've debated doing such but never really bother due to the sheer amount of work involved/lack of energy for such) you would have to set up custom material swaps (and basically all the work a standalone mod entails) then also tweak existing vanilla vaults to use the different ones, and probably a few other things I'm forgetting offhandedly...
I seem to be having an issue. I follow the instructions to the letter on Replacer's List and everything seems to be working to a point. Once I start merging the files from Landscape on, I eventually reach a point through testing where the rocks have purple textures. Not sure what is happening and what keeps disappearing with the rock textures. Is there a BA2 file size limit and I need to break the mods up into separate files? Appreciate any assistance.
Fwiw, there's an incompatibility between m8r's MCM Categorizer and his MCM Settings Manager that can/will cause a CTD when trying to save Settings while Categorizer is enabled. (re: page 15 of "Fallout 4 Modding Is An Absolute Nightmare")
There is purportedly a fix for the CTD in some un-released version (on Discord?), but it remains unavailable on Nexus (cuz the collective that supports the mods for some reason isn't ready... I've nudged a few times, but nothing further for several months).
