About this mod

This mod makes those goo pools in the glowing sea green, like they should've always been. There are other colors available as well, such as acid, yellow, quantum, and lava.

Summary

Ever since I first played Fallout 4 on the PS4 I wondered to myself "Why isn't this green?" Radioactive goo is like, always green. And rad storms are green, and nuclear material is green, and "The Glow", or the nuke crater in the center of the Glowing Sea glows... green. C'mon!

This is a real simple mod which changes the the radioactive muck pools and all water pools found in the Glowing Sea, to green goo, or another goo color of your choice. The goo also glows, and the color of lights surrounding them has been adjusted accordingly. No more muddy water puddles. Goo!

Customization

  • There are multiple colors to choose from:
-The original green. This is a very green green. Like, in RGB space, it's 0, 255, 0 kind of green.
- Nuka-Cola Quantum (cyan) goo.
- Yellow Goo. Inspired by the Toxic Mutagenic Waste from Fallout 76
- Lava (red-orange) goo
- Acid (yellow-green) goo. This color is between the Green and Yellow goo.

Don't be afraid to suggest other colors, I might just add them. I'm not doing all 16,777,216 though.

  • If the colors are too saturated/bright or too glowy for your taste I might consider adding less-glowy versions if enough people seem to want them. Until then, if you want to remove the glow effect yourself, you can simply delete the "materials" folder from the mod. This will make the goo glow considerably less.

Installation

  • Use your mod manager of choice to install it. Should work fine. I heartily recommend MO2.

  • In your load order, put this mod after Clean Water of the Commonwealth or after any other mods that modify water

Changelog

1.4 - Fixes a rendering issues which caused clipping at different angles for muck pools. Updated the goo textures to have more detail (still 4k). Changed the overlying muck texture to be more "gooey", and now it isn't just a recolored version of the vanilla texture, its actually an original texture. Gooier goo!

1.3.1 - Thanks to the words of nightblade097, now this mod is an ESL again (ESL-flagged ESP), AND you can also sort it in your load order.

1.3 - Fixes some invisible textures, and officially replaces all the toxic water pools around the Glowing Sea with goo. Due to the changes to ExtGlowingSeaWater,  this mod has a minor conflict with Clean Water of the Commonwealth, and possibly other water texture mods. Put my mod after those mods in your load order. If another mod does conflict in this way, the water pools may look brownish, or whatever color that mod sets them to.

1.2 - Upgraded the green goo to a 4k texture, and darkened it a bit compared to version 1.1, but not as dark as 1.0. Removed files changing
unnecessary textures around the Glowing Sea, and made the goo pools transition with adjacent terrain better.

1.1 - Changed the color of lights which surround the pools to green, which means it needs an ESL now. Also changed the goo itself to emit
more
light. Glowing goo!

1.0 - Original version. Only changes textures. The goo does not glow nearly as much as in version 1.1, but it still does a little.

Other Information

I highly recommend sending in your screenshots as this will help me assess how well it plays with other people's ENBs, weather mods, texture overhauls, and whatever else.

Diffuse and glow maps are 4k, normal and specular maps are 2k. Files were saved in BC7 format if that matters to you.

The mushrooms in the pictures aren't me. If you're wondering, its the by The Fungal Forest by Spiffyskytrooper.

For the screenshots that I took myself, any land textures which aren't affected by this mod are purely vanilla textures. I also don't have any weather mods enabled in those screenshots, but I do have Visceral ENB installed (with some personal tweaks).

Thanks to:
-Bethesda for their Creation Kit, even with its issues and limits.
-Ousnius for his Material Editor. Couldn't have made my goo glow w/o this.
-Ousnius again, for Bodyslide and Outfit Studio. Couldn't have made all the water into goo without Outfit Studio
-Rick Brewster for Paint.NET
-null54 for DDSFileTypePlus, a DDS editing plugin for Paint.NET
-MJW for NormalMapPlus, a CodeLab implementation which enables Normal Map creation in Paint.NET
-The creators of GIMP. Much better for editing alpha layers than Paint.NET
-ElminsterAU for FO4Edit. Really made making this less of a pain in the neck
-You all for getting this on Hot Mods. Hype!
