i hope this works, and i wish Kingath would add this mod to his required list so this whole situation could be avoided in the future. i have been having this issue for so long now, i finally got fed up with it and decided to figure out what the hell is going on, because it's so damn hard to get invested in playing sim settlements with this issue of the crazy long save times.
Agreed. I know it's not on Nexus, but I saw this and other mod suggestions on the Sim Settlements Wiki (https://wiki.simsettlements2.com/en/customization/suggested-mods).
yeah i have read extensivly into all of these mods, and unfortunatly none of them really solves the issue, they are great tools i will say, but they just don't solve anything.
i tend to run into issues in sim settlements when the script updates any plot, and that's when the save bloat and script lag and CTD issues start, actually the save bloat happens earlier than some of these, so you start out only waiting a few seconds to save your game and then it suddenly turns into 30 seconds and progressively gets worse the more you play, i once waited 5 minutes to save my game, and at that point i just decided to take sim settlements out of my load order and i don't think it's worth my time anymore, don't get me wrong i think the story is great in his mods, it's just that i can never finish these stories and they corrupt my save game so damn quickly that it's not even worth my time using it.
i usually start seeing the signs within an hour of play time, but when i go without, and do a sim settlement free load order i could last days and days without running into any issue like this.
again i love the mod, it just comes with way to many issues that i don't want to waste my time with anymore, i would rather either build my own settlements or use blueprints. i guess it's too bad the story isn't separate from the mechanics of sim settlements, but that doesn't exactly make a lot of sense story wise since it's integrated into the story lol.
yes, it's with both of them, and yes i found the same issues for both mods, i thought maybe his earlier sim settlements mod would be less script demanding, but no, it suffers from much of the same issues as SS2 does.
like again i love the story and the gameplay tools he created, it just doesn't work well ultimately in the end, if you want to try out the mod, go on ahead and try it, but just understand that at some point it will corrupts your save sooner rather than later in your game.
Crazy, thanks for telling me. I'll probably go ahead and check it out since I'm pretty sure everything is gonna break anyway when Todd releases the next gen update.
Sounds like you may be using these already, but this is for those who don't know. I have a mid-range card RTX 2070 Super, 32 GB RAM. I also have SS2+3, plus most of the add-ons and a load order of 700+ mods. The long save bug fix mod works for me, see the posts for user comments and possible tweaks.
The BakamaxPayrusOps mod has Maximum papyrus operations per frame facility. A higher number means better script performance on average. I set mine to 1900. Currently having few issues, long may it last.
Again for those who are unaware, It is generally advised not to have more than 10 saves in your saves folder. FallrimTools mod can be handy to clean out saves that have deleted scripts due to deleting script mods mid-save. I sometimes do trial runs and do the dastardly, but for a new playthrough I never delete mods mid-save, unless they are of the kind where it is safe to do so, normally the modder will indicate that...
jmaccamb thanks mate, i discovered the long save fix some time later, Kingath really should put that in the requirements so that people trying out his mod don't have to run into all the frustration in the world, now i didn't know about that mod when i was playing sim settlements, i only discovered it like a few weeks ago, and by that time i completly abandoned SS chapter 3.
as for the other mods, i was using these for other mods funny enough.
however you did bring up something that is new to me, FallrimTools i have not yet used this mod, i heard about it but didn't spend a whole lot of time investigating it, so thanks for letting me know what it does.
again there are just some mods that i wish kingath would put in the requirements so people know what to use to avoid all the nonsense in his ss mods, but one other issue i found within his mod had to do with significant script lag, now i don't have as beefy as a machine as you do and that could very well be one of the reasons, but it was effecting more people than just me in my findings, and i also don't have a very big load order for this game, i mostly function with 200 plugins max, i rarely ever go over that because i hate the conflicts that i could possibly run into, i just want the game to run stable and for a long time without issues.
So, weird thing happened. It seems that the message "Failed to load Settings" is quite rare, so I dont know if this will be answered. But if you could give me some pointers on what to do, i would be grateful. (Man, this feels too formal)
Hi, does this mod still require Microsoft Visual C++ even if I don't use commonlibf4? I tried looking around to see if it does but I can't really find anything on it.
@baixiongshijiu Well, I'm not going to pretend like I know the ins-and-outs of what's going on...but the last time this mod was updated was in 2020. Buffout 4 is still being updated and right now people in the community I guess are debating it's usefulness.
That being said though, people still swear by Baka ScrapHeap. Saying that they do see a performance increase with it.
Thing is right now, if you want to use Buffout 4 & Baka ScrapHeap, you have to make some manual changes.
You would need to go into Data/F4SE/Plugins/Buffout4, open the .toml file in a text editor and change the line 'MemoryManager' to false. Then go to Baka's .toml file and change the Memory Multiplier to 4.
@LDream5 That's very kind of you to help! Now I have a clear conception of using this mod. BTW, this mod would help whether I have Sim Settlements 2 or not, is that right?
I suggest using this only with older Buffout 4. ( <1.26) The new Buffout 4 has papyrus tweaks of its own. That said, This is a awesome plugin for low vram gpus. Combined with B4 it shifts alot of the rendering info to your cpu/ram. Fallout priority mod works well with these too. Weapon debris crash fix is only needed for newer Nvidia cards above GTX 10 series. Although I see it in all the build guides. You can use the games NVflex features with GTX 10 and below, without mod or plugin. Stayed above 30fps with 300+ mod builds several times, with a GTX 750 Ti 2GB. Make sure you keep a archive of your mods of Fallout 4. It is getting elderly. :)
Why you include the dll file, it will be out of date before you know it, this could just be in a comment with the text for copy paste. Suspicious with a dll DL that is not from the creator, bad.
I'm having a error popped by BakaScrapHeap.dll wich says "Failed to load settings." And I can't figure out what have happened. And my game doesn't launch without this mod. Already made some tweaks in the High FPS Physics fix and Buffout 4, but with no succes. Can someone plz help?
Edit: Fix is to add the files manually to plugins. When you install with a manager, it doesn't add the .toml file. Adding it manually seems to entirely fix the issue!
I'm getting an error that says "c++/settings.h(47): Failed to load settings" which I've never gotten before. I have all VC libraries installed at the latest versions. The only thing I've changed is to add -forcesteamloader as an argument to my F4SE loader from MO2 because it was necessary to get the MCM to load on my GOG version of the game. Disabling the mod removes the error but since I'm using SS2 it would be nice to have it.
I was starting to have persisting CTD's for the last hours, and I was clearly feeling that the many, many scripts from Sim Settlements 2 and related appreciable city plans were most certainly the culprit. The load was getting heavier and heavier ; when Starlight Drive-In City Plan turned to level 3 it seemed to be just too much, and I would start crashing a few minutes later whatever I'd do.
Installed Baka SH, tweaked it according to the description and the last comments (deactivated all OS allocators except for ScaleformAllocator in Buffout ; set ScrapHeapMult to 4), and my save now runs like a charm again, I'm so delighted - I just hope I didnt only delay the inevitable =D
I'm sorry to ask but what description are you referring to? I feel like I'm missing something, I see no guide or anything for tweaks on the description page.
