Hey there, this mod sounds just like what I’ve been looking for and I was wondering if you were thinking about porting this to XB1 since no mod I seem to find can do what yours says it can do
Oh my god, THANK YOU for this mod! I'd been using a mod that simply enhanced the damage but it still felt wrong for such a big round to lose damage (velocity I guess) so quickly! Now I can reach out and touch the enemy as I should be able to!
Works very well with the Search and Destroy mod as they spot you from so far away you really need the extra range on a stealth/sniper build!
Thank you for posting this file, it's a well-rounded and much needed improvement for a solid weapon. Finally, i can put all those .50 rounds to good use. If you'd consider taking a request, I'd like the Hunting Rifle's bayonet to look more like the large bayonet on the Pipe Rifles, which includes a handle to make the bayonet look more realistic. The Hunting Rifle's current, handle-less bayonet looks a bit flimsy for my tastes. Would you be willing to change this in a future update?
SO great mod, as the hunting rifle actually sucks. I would like to know if you can add, more customisable changes, as for example to act only on the range because for me, a scoped rifle .50 caliber, shooting at only 300m ... there is someting wrong.
If you use a long barrel with your .50 receiver it puts the range at just over 400. While I know thats only about a quarter of what it could realistically be accurate to, the game doesn't quite work like that, as far as im aware, the range indicated is the range were it still does full damage not the max range of the gun, so it will still damage targets beyond the shown range but with reduced damage out to 2x the shown range. And as far as im aware, there is no place in the game were it will draw npc's at that range
Hi Thanks for your reply, because when you are on the Mass Fusion Tower, you can spot some npc below, but it can't touch them, was thinking about the high... May be
That's interesting, I'll certainly be testing that, it's entirely possible that there is a limit in the game engine that prevents damage beyond a certain range.
Unfortunately I'm pretty busy at the moment and I doubt I'll get time until after the new year.
I think the intent was to make it into a carbine. Would have made more sense if it was went to .44 instead and also replaced the bolt action with a lever action to give you a faster fire rate. But even then it would still be inferior to the combat rifle. All the reciever upgrades sound dumb but I haven't been able to come up with a better and balanced way to level up a weapon AND work within the Gun Nut tree.
Thank you so much for this mod, Hunting Rifle kinda became useless to me after I got a good Laser Rifle, hoping this mod will add it back to the rotation of weapons I use.
Would you potentially consider a mod changing the Assault Rifle to .308? Since it's clearly a water-cooled machine gun, not an actual assault rifle.
You're welcome, I hope you find a use for the hunting rifle again.
As for your request, I've not got to the point in the game were I've seen many, or used the Assault Rifle, When the time comes, and if I can't find a mod that changes it to my satisfaction, I'll make one.
In the mean time you might want to check out this mod http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2278/?
That's actually a really good point, I will probably make the weight of it with the long barrel 9 pounds, and look at adjusting the weight of mods to suit
I did some research into actual weights of rifles and various different attachments, while the vanilla figures are out, they aren't out by that much and except for the basic short hunting rifle are actually about 1 pounds lighter for most configurations, so if I was to change the weights, it'd most likely end up being heavier for you.
The hunting rifle uses .308 not .38. "Ammo308Caliber ".308 Round" [AMMO:0001F66B]" not "Ammo38Caliber ".38 Round" [AMMO:0004CE87]" The .308 would be the correct ammo for it, 5.56 isn't a good round for hunting.
ultrasabersalex is correct, the primary ammo type of the rifle, .308 is not changed, it is only the .38 receiver that you can craft that I changed to 5.56
.223REM(5.56) is used a lot for hunting, here in Australia anyway.

".38 receiver, Reduced damage. Changes ammo type to .38 Caliber."
He changed the mod to a 5.56 receiver, which makes alot more sense since 5.56 bolt action rifles actually exist but 380 ACP bolt action rifles do not.
