I've been releasing updates the past few days as I continue to find things that I either got wrong or had left untouched. With the 1.3.1 update now available I should hopefully be done with updates for a while, unless I find a glaring issue. Sorry for the update spam the last few days.
Edit: I'm sorry, but I apparently missed an edit to the lockers that was still causing them to spawn only 10mm pistols. 1.3.1 should fix this, but any loot already spawned in the lockers will still be there.
This mod is my attempt at making loot appear in more sensible places. I made this for myself when at the time there was no mod that did quite what I wanted, but it has been left unpublished until now while I tested it out (with like a 6 month break in between too). As of right now I'm happy enough with things as they are. I'd like to remove more Nuka Quantum from the commonwealth but that seems to require more edits than I know how to do right now. Maybe one day.
Right now what this mod needs is just more testing to make sure things continue popping up at expected levels so consider this to still be a work in progress. If you have suggestions for other immersive loot changes I'm happy to hear them, but I make no promises that I'll implement everything.
First off, I apologize for the delayed response, I've been away from FO4 for a bit over a year and a half.
Looking at my plugin with FO4Edit I don't see why pipe-guns would show up in safes. I removed short guns list entirely from the safe_prewar container file and replaced it with a custom safe weapons list which only includes knuckles, switchblades, 10mm pistols, and .44 pistol (weapons pre-war residents would want to keep locked up and away from children).
It's possible that you are seeing them spawn in safes that were not marked as pre-war, in which case I did not touch these containers (I'm not sure how many of these there are but I can think of one example being the safe in Corvega which requires a raider key to unlock).
It could be that another file overwrites yours, hence why the loot-list reverts to its original form, but I'm not sure what file that might be. :| Thanks for the reply anyway. I've actually not played FO4 in a while myself.
What I would love to know is where you got that artwork!! I just thought it was some random 40's era piece until I came back to this page and clicked on the actual pic. It looks like someone rose Norman Rockwell from the dead and then hired him to make fallout art. Where did it come from?
How are the level lists changed? Is it via script? I'm curious how it will affect other mods that change the LL's to inject their items. Your mod sounds great if it allows other mods to modify the LL's as well.
