how can i make a short scope not zoom in through the scope? id like to have a short scope for 3rd person only just for the looks, like have a short scope that aims as the iron sight
here to report this does still work on nextgen in 2025!
entirely reasonably, though unfortunately for me, it replaces the recon scope on laser weapons with the laser scope mesh. I was hoping to use the rifle scope mesh on my laser musket, as I thought it would fit the look a lot better than the awkward laser scopes do.
it also doesn't seem to work at all on modded weapons, though I did not test this observation. (I observed this on the Laser Musket 2.0 from MarMobius. I also have Kentington's Union Blaster and MikeMoore's AEAR-1 installed, though I didn't think to check them as this isn't a priority issue.)
Thank god for this mod. the reacon scopes looked pretty alright on laser weapons but using them on rifles was just ugly, plus with night vision as useless as it is it made reacon scopes the go to option for sniper characters
Is there a way you could just reduce the absurd size of the recon scopes? I like the model for them, but they're just ridiculously huge. If you can, perhaps 50-75% of the default size.
Gonna be using this mod until someone can reduce the insane size of the recon scopes. I actually don't even mind the recon scope on the pistol, it's the rifles that it's ludicrous on.
Do you like the recon scope's size on the pistol; is it smaller then that on the rifle? Because if it is then I could do that without having to mess with the actual model files.
I think the scope on the pistol may be smaller, yes. I'm not 100% certain, but it certainly seems to be. I didn't even consider that when I made my post.
If you don't mind giving that a shot, I would be extremely grateful. I started looking into nifskope and tutorials for it and... maybe it's cuz I'm getting old, but it confused me. =/
My search for a 'fix' for the Recon Scopes brought me here and I wanted to let you know that I would also massively appreciate a smaller recon scope. Just to maintain the high tech feel without it getting too clunky.
It's been almost three years since this conversation started and almost two since the last post, but I thought I'd let you know I made smaller versions of the recon scopes.
Had to do a reinstall of FO4 and I'm reinstalling all my mods. Came back to reinstall this and just wanted to say again how grateful I am that you did this.
Just curious, do you change the reticle also (since there is no screenshot), to round or is it the default rectangle? I do understand the might involve modeling (changing the .nif file) or is there an alternative .nif available? Does the scope use a script to track targets?
Sorry for all the questions as I don't, as of yet, have a way to check this myself.
God I was so afraid this mod didn't exist. I'm almost always a sniper but that meant ALWAYS having that hideous chunky scope that belonged on an Institute gun rather than a proper rifle. Thank-you SO MUCH for fixing it, and making my guns just a little bit more aesthetic.

Finally got the update out, now it replaces all recon scopes in the game!
