Thanks for this. Some might argue this "breaks immersion' (yet ammo is weightless), but it saves me quite a bit of space and hassle, and I can carry my mods with me everywhere so I can actually make use of the weapon and armor workbenches in the world, aside from scrapping items. I should note that power armor mods are still weighted, and they're quite heavy. Not sure if you plan to change that.
Huh. Kinda wish someone would have reported that earlier, considering the mod has been up for 6 days. I did change them in the files... I'll have to double check it later. Got quite a bit on my plate right now.
No worries. Appreciate the mod either way. Maybe one of my other mods is conflicting with it. I have the mod Power Armor Materials and Paints, so perhaps that is conflicting with yours. Also have one that makes to t-60 as powerful as the x-01, but that one doesn't affect PA armor mods.
Probably not a big issue but it seems the "upgrade" mods aren't included. example: you have x-01 mk 2 and upgrade to mk3. the mk2 mod is still weighted. The items in question have editor names starting with pa_comp_...
I made a simple FO4Edit script to assist with changing weight Over here in the misc section.
I presume you know how to sort by editor id and mass copy as overwrites using a selection instead of doing it one by one.
Ever since Fallout 4 released, it really annoyed me that weapon mods weighed so much. I knew someone would make a mod that fixed this problem, but I didn't think that it would happen so soon! Thank you!
I don'tmean to be an ass, but you can toss mods (and cooking suplies) into the crafting station's inventory and the game will use them the same way as if it were in your inventory.
Unless you're a packrat who carries everything with you, there is no need for this mod.
I am aware of that, I did it because it was requested on the forums.
Also, I personally sell all mods that I don't want after upgrading to something higher. Sometimes I can have over 100 mods at a time, depending on what else I have to sell that 50+ weight can be too much to take everything. Yes, I'm a packrat, but that's just how I play. And I'm not the only one.
Edit: Sorry if this sounds rude, by the way. I wasn't intending it that way, just trying to explain.
Understood. Just wanted to put it out there, in case someone didn't know. I too am a bit of a packrat, but I do it with weapons. I use a mod that adds more weight and another that makes junk wightless
Izeck, I don't mean to be an ass, but I find plenty of use for this mod, particularly on newer games. Now I can carry all my mods around, so that when I find a new weapon/armor in the world, and I happen to have a mod for it, I can upgrade it immediately with any workbenches I come across (which are pretty much useless without the scrapper perk; this mod actually gives them some usefulness). This saves me the time it takes to fast-travel to a settlement, and I can continue exploring unhindered.
IN THE DESCRIPTION: I know there are already mods that do this, but when you actually try to SEARCH for "weightless mod" none of them pop up. So here is one to help people trying to search!
I have no idea who it was, but whoever the first two people to download were: I accidentally uploaded the wrong .zip, you need to update your file. It was still showing 0 downloads when I fixed it, but changed to 2 afterward, so I didn't actually make it look like an update.
One of them was me. Thanks for the head's up, and for the mod. I've been looking for something like this for a while, too; those item modifications get heavy after a while.
I was the other. It did not work. I'll get the new file.
Edit; I just tried the new file. It works fine. One thing I did notice is that any mods created before installing this have the original weight. That may help answer questions here later.

I'll look at the materials & paints mod later and see if I can patch it, should be able to.

Thanks for sharing your work!

The current file should work properly, I'm sorry I didn't catch the incorrect file in the first upload.
Hmm good to know, I didn't realize that, and I'm not sure why it's acting that way. I'll make a note on the file page
