This mod has major issues with lighting, it is not optimized in the slightest to handle an increased value when you have different lighting going on, you can almost count on a crash if you have a good ENB enabled.
Works fine on my ENB, Also running a mod setup with a custom patched horizon version with over 700+ mods and haven't had a single crash using the flamethrower, or enemies using the flamethrower. It's certainly on your end. Tweak your ENB(or stop using ENB's that use exaggerated contrast levels and ambient lighting configurations - also - check xedit for conflicts and compatibility issues..
Im also crashing but that is because of an incompatibility with CROSS gore-crits. If an npc uses it no problems. Still by far the best flamethrower mod on the nexus.
The game WILL CTD if you have CROSS Crit Gore-Verhaul installed and you kill someone with this flamethrower. I have tested this several times and I am positive that CROSS Crit Gore-Verhaul does something that causes the C++ R6025 error - Pure virtual function call error and hard crashes.
Yup, i just got that aswell, updated my libraries and reinstalled net.framework just to be sure and nothing. I assume both mods conflict. other than that by far the best flamethrower mod for fallout 4.
I havent had any problems, however, I've noticed that when modding the weapon, the fire damage values 'disappear'. I dont know if thats normal or maybe the values are still there and just not showing, I dont know.
Anyway, badass mod, makes clearing ghouls and large groups easier. Only thing is, I would love to see a more powerful 'blue flame' mod to the weapon, like 'Black Napalm' from CNC Generals
The reason this weapon can become OP is there is a bug where the fire rate is almost double what it should be while in 1st person. It spits out flame fuel at a rate far exceeding what it's supposed to.
Still a great mod nonetheless, but it would great if someone knew how to fix it, I'm not very well versed on animation bugs and the such.

update: suddenly noticed it did install (somehow) but when I spawned it in-game it was invisible!
