NOTE: additional inspiration was derived from the fine work of Vlad Prokudins as to how the weapon should look.

Warning:  The animations are vanilla (using Junk Jet at this point for a couple reasons) and totally wrong for this weapon.  We are in search of help with this issue as no team member is into animations at this time.  So please do not complain about the animations, as we are obviously aware of the issue, unless you can help us fix the issue.

1.  Description: The M56 Smartgun is a man-portable heavy machine gun with automatic targeting capabilities chambered for the M250 round, a 10×28mm High Explosive Armor Piercing caseless ammunition. It is notably employed by the United States Colonial Marine Corps.  When powered up, the gun begins tracking targets via the infrared detector mounted directly above the barrel.

2.  Location:  The initial weapon, some ammo and the schematic to build it may be found inside BigJohnsSalvage01, where the two skeletons are holding each other on a bed.  This is inside of a tanker cargo carrier.



3.  Ammunition: There are 4 different ammo rounds available for this weapon.  They may be made at the chem station if have the right materials and skills.

-Form ID: xx002E13 - Standard 10x28 caseless round.

-Form ID: xx002E19 - A Dirty 10x28 caseless round. This is in homage to the M57D an utterly vicious weapon that fires rounds that shatter into hundreds of radioactive splinters inside their target.

-Form ID: xx005434 - An electrical bolt that causes the weapon to release an electrolaser discharge.  Based on issue #5 of the comic series Aliens: Defiance, where an arcing electroshock weapon in what looks like an M56 chassis is shown used by a USCMC marine against Xenomorphs.

-Form ID: xx006B27 - A flame bolt round.  Produces burst of tightly controlled flame that envelope the target upon impact. Did this for the fun of it.

All the above rounds are determined by the barrel you install on the M56.  

4.  Modifications: May enhance the weapon in various ways as detailed below.

4a. Barrels: There are four different barrels that can be installed on the weapon.  Each barrel requires a different type of ammo and has a different look and projectile.



-Base Barrel: The standard barrel that the weapon starts with .. uses the base 10x28 round.

-M57D Barrel: A hardened barrel that fires the dirty rounds.

-ElectroLaser Barrel: Converts the weapon to use the electrical bolt round and fire electrolaser bursts.

-Flame Bolt Barrel: Converts the weapon to use the flame bolt round and fire controlled flame bursts.

4b. Muzzles: There are six different muzzles that can be installed on the weapon.  Each has a different look and a different effect for the weapon.



-Standard Muzzle:  Start with this installed on the weapon.  Acts as a muzzle brake.

-Compensator Muzzle: Improved per-shot recoil. Improved recoil control. Reduced range.

-Splitter Muzzle: Splits bullet/bolt into multiple projectiles covering a wider area with improved per-shot recoil. Improved recoil control. Reduced range.

-Flame Charger Muzzle: Imparts a stabilized charge to the bullet that causes fire effect upon impact.  Improved per-shot recoil. Improved recoil control. Reduced range.

-Suppressor Muzzle: Silence at last .. peace and quiet on the field except for the flying body parts.

Focuser Muzzle: Superior range and accuracy .. for those that wish to reach out and communicate with the other side from a safe distance.

4c. Receivers: In addition to the base receiver there are 6 enhancements that can be made to its ability to damage the target.  At the Vasquez version a minor change in look occurs with the addition of the word ADIOS on the side.



4d. Sights: The weapon starts with a 4x recon scope installed.  May mod it to increase the power to 10x.

4e. Magazine: Starts with a drum mag as standard and there is one modification that will increase the number of rounds the mag can hold.

Note: If other mods are desired just ask and we will attempt to add them to the mod as we improve it.

5. Plans:  Will hopefully be able to find someone to help with the animations in the near term otherwise will try to learn the ins and outs and see if one of the team can fix (will take a long time for this).  Also will retrofit the look of this weapon into the CM mod that the team posted here on FO4 NEXUS.
