Thanks to the Drivables creator BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah helping with the fix, we have a solution for those who build their LOD with LODGEN & have blocked view in the interior. I went ahead & published a patch, go ahead & test it out. It should work out of the box, even on existing save, no need to rebuild your lod again either.
If you use a mod that screws with containers, it can adversely affect your ability to access the APC to fix it via the “Fix” Button that was pups night orally show as an option when viewing its initial inventory (after destroying the surrounding enemies)..
What an amazing mod. I tried a drivable mod a long time ago and didn’t really see the appeal.
This APC on the other hand is a whole different beast and incredible for a hardcore survival playthrough thanks especially to the outside workshop and the inside cell of the APC. And it drives and swims very nicely with great cannons to boot :)
Unfortunately it isn’t the easiest mod to use, so here a few hints that are really helpful: To get inside, use the RIDE option, then switch the camera view to 1st person and hovering over the APC press R to get a menu with option like Enter Tiny House which brings you inside the APC where you can build. That is also where you find the books the quest asks for.
Another thing that drove me nuts is accessing the Outer Workshop. It’s an awesome feature and I just couldn’t get it. I fooled around with my load order, tried everything and nada. Only entering the Tiny House showed in the menu. Turns out that it isn’t actually accessed that way, the info on the menu is misleading. Once you craft the outer workshop and equip it via the terminal inside the APC like you would equip armor on a companion or settler you don’t access the workshop from the menu when riding the APC. You access it via the dialog that shows outside the APC (press R for Do Stuff).
In my case still some mod prevented the option to show up and I only get Ride. It does appears for me with two workarounds: 1) Not having a weapon equipped. 2) Having something equipped on your character that forces additional dialog options. For me having the Security Outfit Manager Tool equipped from NPC Outfit Manager did the trick, when I approach the APC its dialog comes up and I can use the outside workshop, among other things.
It’s a mod conflict on my end, but considering how many mods add or modify interactions these days I assume more people have that problem.
Another useful hint: sometimes when I mount the APC I end up in the front seat rather than the turret. Entering the inside cell, looking up and interacting with the turret hatch puts me into the gunner position.
Hello I was wondering if there was a way to get this mod working with Fallout 4 VR. I love this mod. This is literally the center piece of my playthroughs without this mod fallout 4 VR is just a walking simulator to me. I love having that mobile base aspect. Thing is I can get the APC to go froward but I cannot steer it to the left or right. If I can the APC to steer left and right in then fallout 4 vr is pretty much complete for me(as complete as fallout 4 can be with all its bugs but I still love it).
my mission has check marks for the magazine and apc but the locations of the other books arent shown. help? (and yes i picked the first magazine up in the interior of the apc.)
Love the driveables series of mods, great stuff. I have unfortunately run into an issue on my newest playthrough in which the quest won't advance after finding the APC. Got in and fought biscuits, then later he disappeared as well. Now the quest just says find more magazines. The APC is working fine however and I can upgrade it with items but again the quest just hangs on that point and there are no quest markers pointing to any further magazines. Any input would be grand. Cheers.
This has become one of my favorite mods. Came across it over a year ago, but didn't download it until last month. The only issue I have experienced a few times, is where it won't let me get in as driver and gunner; but that is easily solved by going into the interior space, and entering the cockpit or gunner turret from there. No need to load earlier saves.
Besides this mod, a couple of the DOTC mods, and Humvees of Fallout; I haven't tried any other mods that add driveable land vehicles; but I definitely like the driving controls on this one best.
You can still go there 1st, in Fallout the areas are leveled with the player to promote exploration. Since you know where it is, hire follower or bring followers to help, bring LOTS of weapons & heals lol, Make it your first boss fight & then you can use it all game.🤷
awesome mod I'm really enjoying it only problem I'm having is I cant aim the turret I can move it around but the crosshair stays in the same location causing every shot to hit the same area no matter where I'm pointing the gun if anyone knows a fix for this you'd be much appreciated thanks in advance and great job again to the mod author the apc drives super smooth compared to other drivable mods
Its not doing that for me if I remember correctly, maybe you have a custom camera setting thats changing something? Do you mean whilst you're inside driving, or on the roof driving? I definitely was able to move the gun around while on top, but not sure if I tested while inside.
its when im on the roof driving and i dont have any custom camera settings on atm i can also move around the gun in first person its the crosshair that stays in the same location for some reason lol
Hmmm, I will have to test again shortly to be sure thats not also true for me, I do use the Custom Camera mod, Comprehensive Third Person Controller Camera Tweaks mod, & See-Through Scopes mod, but im not sure if any of those would have any effect. It could b something else entirely. I'll let ya know if I find anything.
Edit:I just tested driving on top in gunner position, the crosshair is moving for me in 1st person, but 3rd person seems he locked aiming to forward to allow the mouse movement to steer the APC, likely had to make the call on that, because steering is important. If you notice, in 1st person you cannot steer, only go forward/backward.
Also worth noting maybe, im using all the FallUI mods that alter the UI too, still not sure if they'd make any difference though.
That really was quite a fight there wasnt it? Got my rear kicked several times. Also I had forgotten I installed this so it was a huge surprise to find the APC there, & its huge list of requirements to repair, took a while to retrieve it which made it feel more rewarding.
After testing it is indeed my Generated LOD. That Trailer is there but invisible. But if i Generate LOD it becomes visible and messes up the APC home.... Is it possible to move the home to another location? Would just place it higher. Looking into the FO4Edit
Same here, I looked thru the esp's, & thru the lod files, its not easily apparent what breaks it, I might look a bit more, but its some deep oddity. The cell its placed in doesnt appear to even be in my built LOD, though those file names are not too useful, not sure how we can exclude this cell either. I think your idea of placing it somewhere different is best, just moving it upwards may not be enough, considering how many parts there, may as well put it somewhere very far away from any objects, guess we could try that.
Edit: I loaded it up in creation kit, but its not apparent what to do, the ASmallNewAPCInterior is invisible & the visibility commands dont change it, maybe script does later when running? I dunno, anyhow, not sure why running FO4LODgen is even touching this cell, simplest fix would be disable this mod when you run FO4LODGen. I dont want to mess with their layout here, moving everything up could break things, & is not guaranteed to fix the problem anyway. Perhaps this cell needs to be marked as something FO4LODGen wont touch, might be the easiest fix, but not sure how to do that.
Edit: On second thought, disable before build LOD might not work, seems its in an actual game cell, I went to the spot in game (in downtown boston) & investigated, but its not visible there in any way, only if you enter interior thru apc door. I guess just dont use the inside of the APC, everything else works fine, but interior is wiped out & obscured. We might figure it out eventually, or just move it to another cell somewhere far from objects, or wherever fo4lodgen wont touch it.
Adding here too in case anyone lands on these comments & not the other spot.

For enemy APCs (and a very few tanks) scattered around the Commonwealth:

I don't have VR stuff, so yeah.
If anyone wants to take that task on, though, I'd be happy to provide permission to post patch (mastered to this) on Nexus for sure.
Sorry.

I would love to have that thing at the start.

I m wondering if has anything to do with LOD
Is it possible to move the home to another location? Would just place it higher.
