Why would you need to pay rent in a post-apocalyptic world where the vest majority of homes are vacant? Also why worry about debt collectors? Shoot them dead like raiders...
Society without government can only work if the people abide to the honour system and share an absolute moral standard. You wouldn't shoot dead debt collectors, you would make your payments. Having said that though, doesn't the player OWN all his homes? Why the rent? Land rates are a form of theft, so if that is why you're paying, then yeah, shoot 'em dead.
It's for people using house mods, some of them involve using a apartment and buying the key from the Teller, like Cyberlight Apartments. It's not too crazy to think someone would offer housing for Rent in Fallout, hell every town has a Inn. And if they send Debt collectors.. HELL YEAH, you wanna' shoot em, do it. That's what they are there for.
It's sole purpose is immersion. If you have a housemod you would think makes sense to have rent paid for, this mod would be for you.
@RobinFWilliams I see your point. I thought a while after posting that it may be for those with house mods which conceivably you're paying rent for upkeep of the property. If I use a already cleared house mod I may use this mod as it would make sense. Cheers for the replies.
It's a extra little immersion tool. It may not apply initially, but you could easily head cannon a reason to use it. It's another neat tool for immersion. It can be off, it can be on. We like tools, I'm sure you do as well. But yes, awesome discussion, I hope you find a use for this mod, I sure am.
What about charge the real time player in bitcoin currency towards the mod house author for real time daily rent? Even more "LORE" friendly, charge your Steam account or Creation Club points to pay the "Debtor"?
I sure will use this, it's just that I've not used any home mod or anything which I could imagine being a rented property. I was thinking of buying Charlestown Condo but rent wouldn't fit with this mod either as the quest story to attain the home opposes renting. Cyberlight Apartments? Beautiful looking apartments/mod, too clean. Ain't I picky? :) Anyway... Sorry if my comment seemed rude and dismissive of this mod, I've been under a lot of stress and worry lately...
dont worry dude happens to all of us at some points the mod aint going anywhere. plus if you install it, it wont be enabled until you actually use the holotape so theres no worry
You are the greatest! I had thought about a taxation mod that would eventually lead to a become the new mayor mod because I would have wanted to set up the ability to raise or lower tax for diamond city causing events like lack of funding for security and things like that. Just the thought of it its daunting I never even started making it. I never thought about something simple like this, simple is better! although I still think diamond city needs a new mayor.
The one thing I don't get is... this can't be immersive. It would be immersive if let's say your Pip-Boy or something remind you rent is up and you have to go to them to pay before they hire maybe gunners or someone to come after you and get the pay from you by force. OR When the time is ready, a randomly generated NPC for wherever you owe rent comes up and asks you for the pay, where you pay them OR you can say no and they try taking it from you by force. The less you pay, the more hostile the NPCs become when it's time to pay the rent and not paying it causes wherever the house is for the town to be hostile to you or something. Just magically taking caps from you from the middle of no where is "immersive".
These are all understandable points. But this mod is made with ease of use in mind. Rather the setting up a whole area which takes up space in the wasteland where something else could be ( Other house mods. ) all the actions are internalized. Having the mod set up this way ensures it has the widest compatibility and use. Making a teller for Every Single house mod that comes out is insane to expect, and going to the area of this NPC would be immersion breaking as all heck, what are you going to do, install a house mod, walk to this teller's location that could be far away from the home you are at and tell him to charge you money?
This way, you get a house, walk in, set the rent to what you would want, carry on your way.
Oh snap, I want this... There aren't nearly enough money-sinks in the game. Or time-sinks for that matter...
It's just, once a week seems awfully slow, especially for such a low max cost. Any chance on a version where the caps are collected daily? Or maybe an increase to the max cost?
hello yes i will look into it. first ill implement the debt collectors.
by the way, just keep the caps/money value in-game in mind. 1 prewar money is 8 caps. if you translate 500 caps in dollars then, thats quite a bit. plus people usually only have about 15-20 caps on them. almost nobody in the commonwealth is rich so in my opinion, 100-300 caps is pretty immersive per week. the vendor prices are totally overkill by the way lol a beer shouldnt cost more than 4-5 caps
Im happy to see an active modder who releases interesting little tweaks every week. Keep it up man. Im sure I will test some of your creations when I return home from work in two weeks.

ive got some other things on hold but the mayor thing is a nice idea. thing is i dont have anyone to voice act lol
but btw if you get far enough into the game, one day when you come to diamond city, something happens that you might like
