About this mod

Five new craftable radios tuned to Atomic Radio, all based on my modified version of the pre-war model. Features include a variety of colours, unique styling and a glowing back panel.

There's nothing better than wandering the wastes, listening to the radio and working on our aim.

~ R4-04, Natural Born Killer and Top 40 Aficionado

This mod is mostly the same as my Radiant Radios - Diamond City Radio Edition mod, but the radios are tuned to the excellent, amazing, can't-say-enough-about-it, radio station Atomic Radio and have an additional style change.  Even if you don't install this mod, I'd highly recommend installing Atomic Radio.

Radio Details

* 2k textures (2k diffuse, 2k normal and 1k specular maps)

* 5 colours: Blue, Red, Yellow, Black and Wood - okay, maybe wood's not a colour

* Radiation King logo on the front, with an upscale version for the wood model, with the front "fins" restyled to fit the logo. Radiation King label on the back

* Cleaned-up dial, but left just a bit rough to look like there's some patina when the radio's off.  When the radio's turned on, the glow cuts through the patina. The glow is turned down from the vanilla settings for a more subtle effect

* Activating the radio also lights up the vents in the back panel

* The tough vinyl face is in excellent condition, but you can see a few smudges in certain lighting conditions. The casing is also in excellent condition but the protective clear coat has a few dings.  The back plate is a little scratched up too. It's far from a wasteland grunge version, but not quite100% new either. (But there's also an optional file if you'd prefer the casings to have no scratch marks.)

* Stylized atomic symbol on the front colour bar

NOTE: A couple of the screenshots don't show the dial very well.  Don't know why.  In-game, they're all equally detailed and sharp.

Installation

Install via mod manager or download manually, unzip, and copy the esp and ba2 files into your Fallout4/Data folder. Reverse the process to uninstall.

Compatibility

This mod doesn't affect any vanilla records, so should be conflict-free.

File Requirements

Atomic Radio You don't need Tales from the Commonwealth, just Atomic Radio. (But I'd recommend DL'g from Kris's site as mentioned in the description.)

Optional Files: Combined DCR and Atomic Radio Editions

If you want both Diamond City and Atomic Radio Editions, save yourself an esp slot and download one of the optional files.  There are 2 versions:

The first one is for people who don't have Radiant Radios - Diamond City Radio Edition installed.

The second one is for people who've already installed Radiant Radios - Diamond City Radio Edition.  Install this version instead of the first optional file, otherwise you'll lose any DCR radios you've already built.  Overwrite the files when prompted.

Optional File: Scratch Remover

For people who'd prefer the casing to have no scratch marks.  It's a loose file that will override the one in the ba2 files for all versions.  Install via mod manager or download manually, unzip and copy into your Fallout4/Data folder.  Reverse the process to uninstall.

How to Remove a Radio

If the mod makes your crafting menu too cluttered, or you just don't like one or more of the colours, click the spoiler button for a step-by-step guide on how to remove any number of the radios from your game. It involves Fallout 4 Edit but, no worries, it's easy as pie.

Spoiler:
Show

1. Download FO4 Edit from here and install according to the instructions.

2. Run the FO4Edit.exe file

3. A pop-up window will show all the .esp's in your game. Right click and choose "select none" to clear all the selections, then click to check the box beside RadiantRadiosAtomic.esp. (or the .esp from one of the optional files, depending on your download) and hit ok. No need to check Fallout4.ESM or AtomicRadio.esp, as they'll load automatically, but no harm if you do.

4. Wait until the program loads all the data. You'll know it's done when "Background Loader: Finished" appears at the bottom of the right-hand pane.

5. RadiantRadiosAtomic.esp will be the last entry in the left-hand pane. Click the + sign beside the esp to expand its contents and you'll see 2 sections: "Activator" and "Constructible Object". Click + to expand those sections to see the the 5 radios inside each one (10 if you downloaded one of the optional files). The colour of each radio is part of its name.

6. For each radio you want to remove, right click anywhere on the row containing the radio and select "remove". You'll get a rather startling warning message, but just choose "Yes, I'm absolutely sure." Do this in both the Activator and Constructible Object sections - you have to remove both records for each radio.

7. Save this newly-edited .esp by hitting [CTRL] [S], or simply by closing FO4Edit and, when you get the pop up window, making sure the RadiantRadiosAtomic.esp is checked and clicking "ok" before exiting the program.

8. And you're done! Next time you go into the game, the radios you removed won't be in your crafting menu. Might be a good idea to go into your Fallout4/Data folder and copy the esp and save it somewhere. If you uninstall/reinstall the mod later, it'll install the original .esp so it's handy to have a copy of your edited one to replace it.  That last part comes in handy if you make a mistake - just uninstall/reinstall the original download and try again with a fresh file.

Gratitude

Many thanks to ehtyeci for his work in making the glowing back panel a reality. I'd pretty much given up trying to figure out how to do that but, when I reached
out for help, ehtyeci explained it all in detail and, what's more, even provided me with a working example. In the words of Travis Lonely Miles, I really do appreciate it. If you like this mod, please consider throwing a Kudo his way.

And much gratitude to Kris Takahashi for making Atomic Radio, and to all the incredible voice actors who contributed their talents.  The quality of that mod is absolutely mind-blowing. It's funny, smart and blends in perfectly with the game.  And thanks to Kris for giving this mod his blessing.
