Q: Is there documentation showing all the icons in the iconlibs2.swf file?
A: Why yes there is, click me to see them all.

Q: Do I need to use the HUD Framework DEF UI compatibility Patch?
A: No the file that comes with this already makes the two mods work together.

Q: I installed this but I'm not getting all the fancy icons on weapons and apparel?
A: Weapons and apparel use a dynamic naming system. To change the items names on pre-existing items after installing this you need to force the items name to reset. To do so drop them and pick them back up, this works most of the time but not always. You can also take the item to a weapon/armor bench and mod it, that resets the name 100% of the time. Keep in mind you will still encounter some npcs dropping items with the old naming from before you installed this. That is because the npcs you encountered were created by the game from before you installed this and they've just been sitting waiting patiently in your save for you to come kill them.

Q: I picked up a legendary or examined an item and my game crashed.
A: The vanilla game's limits on available scaleform memory for UI elements are not really adequate, and while this mod is stable on it's own, in combination with additional mods making demands on the limited scaleform memory, there are certain actions can can tend to push the engine past it's breaking point.  The excellent mod Buffout 4 increases the available scaleform memory pool which can alleviate possible instability issues.  As a bonus it also has a crash log which can help user identify the cause of their crashes.  This mod should be in everyone's mod build.

Q: Are older VIS patches still compatible?
A: Some more than others. VIS-G has more categories than VIS so some stuff will need a new tag to be in the ideal category, but VIS-G still has all the old categories so you shouldn't see missing icons on items. Patches for guns will need updated because the icons and part of the naming is controlled by new gun class keywords, and the old caliber keywords just control the ammo suffix tag now.

Q: Can I get a list of non armor/weapon tags used by VIS-G for making patches?
    A: Here you go

the mod crashes the game when I try to access a weapons workbench with vis-g installed. Buffout 4 was able to tell me this was the source of my crashes. I installed following the settings given in the description but it still crashes.

It is what it is. If you want the best item sorting experience then mods need patched to have it. And patches for FO4 can always be esl flagged so it's really not any issue. You can always change a regular esp patch into an esl flagged one with FO4Edit.

It is said in the description that you should overwrite def_ui when prompted, which means you should loadVIS-G AFTER def_ui

    What are "INNRs"?

Everybody keeps mentioning it, but when I try to search for it, I get crap like "International Neuroscience Nursing Research".

I wish people when using these shortcuts would at least the first time in the piece they are writing mention what it is, which is a common practice in professional and even a lot of casual writing, for what should be obvious reasons.  It is not hard, just for the first use in whatever piece you are writing, just follow it with what it stands for in parentheses or brackets, again, not hard, but you KNOW in public posts there are going to be a significant number of people that will not know what a particular shortcut means, then in the rest of the piece you are writing you can just use the shortcut confidently knowing that people will know what you are talking about.

So, instead of just giving a single simple one line realistic answer, you gave a snarky insulting response.

So apparently, I gather from what you said, it is specific to Fallout 4?  I mean, it could have been relevant to other games, or maybe just Bethesda games, or programming in general, or maybe it was one of those new acronyms everybody keeps making up for basic conversation, or ...  There are so many possibilities, so, based on your insulting snarky response, I was supposed to make this assumption based on what?

Please note that not everybody else knows all the things and contexts that you do, and your assumption that there are things I am supposed to just already know through some kind of magical osmosis or something, because it is floating around in your head, it should be in mine, ...  Somehow.  Maybe, just maybe, your go-to response doesn't need to be snarky and insulting to try and make yourself feel superior, and if you actually know the answer, you could just say that answer.

For any other readers, INNR in this context apparently stands for "Instance Naming Rules", somehow we get an extra "n" for some reason, maybe "INR" already means something else?  Anyway, here is a reference found based on the search "innr fallout 4" here

1.) you need to download the mod "better console" and either console enabler for survival or a difficulty level that allows console
2.) type coc qasmoke (haha..coc..) this warps you to the dev room
3.) open the armor boxes and look for any armor / weapons that are not tagged /icon'd
4.) click them in the console and write down the baseid
5.) open xEdit, find that id and manually add the appropriate tag.

This is basically how I figured out every item in the game that wasn't getting tagged properly.  It's also likely that another plugin is overwriting the tags in your load order.  I know for a fact that Grognaks stuff is never tagged correctly and I had to manually add them even when vis-g is loaded last.

side note:  download the Vis-G-ifier script for F4SE.  It is an absolute GOD SEND.  it will automagically tag everything into a new plugin for you.

This feels like the definition of feature creep. Color me surprised when ALL of my s#*! is renamed to extremely specific things like Colt N99 heavy pistol, General Atomics etc etc. Where in the world does it say it was going to do this? I'm really upset because it finally fixed an issue with VIS for me I just coulldn't get working.

I get it may be lore friendly, but make that optional yo.

Sorry for asking, but is this mod supposed to add icons to objects that are found in tables or something like that? because in mine if it was supossed to work like that, it doesnt (i mean when its says the name of the weapon, its supposed to add an icon besides the name before picking it up) sorry for my bad english
