This is for 16:9 resolutions only. (1920 x 1080 or similar ratio of small number to big number. Works at 4k, 1920 was only an example. Works at smaller resolutions too, so long at the small number (height) divided by big number (width) matches 1080 / 1920.)
If the mod manager or file explorer asks you to overwrite DEF_HUD.xml file, select "Yes", or whatever button is appropriate to overwrite the existing file. If you do not overwrite, the mod will not work, because you won't actually be using the mod's file! Go figure ;)
-----------
Note: This preset has everything enabled. When I personally play, I disable a few of the HUD icons included in this preset. But this preset is intended as a one-size-fits all for the greater amount of players, so everything is enabled.
If you would like to change, move or disable anything (or enable, for that matter), please feel free to edit this DEF_HUD.xml file by navigating to your Steam folder, let's call that "Steam" for now, and then steamapps > common > Fallout 4 > Data > Interface. So your file path should look like:
[OS Path here]/[Program Folder]/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 4/Data/Interface/
If you are on Windows and have not setup custom folders for Steam, then your specific path will be
C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 4/Data/Interface/
or possibly
C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 4/Data/Interface/
However, if you are running a 32-bit Windows, which you SHOULD NOT IN 2018 for security reasons and more, then you will not have separate Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders.
Instead, you will have a single Program Files folder, and your Steam folder will be inside of that.
----------------
Back to the tutorial!
If you'd like to edit this preset, navigate to [all the other stuff]/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout 4/Data/Interface/
and open the program file called HUDMenuSet.exe or it might be called HUDMenuSet depending on how you have your operating system setup.
In either case, that program will allow you to drag and drop and edit my preset with pretty easy-to-use tools.
BUT you must install the mod first before you try to edit it, or else it won't work! The HUDMenuSet program will only allow you to edit my file if it can actually find it in the regular folder. Obviously. So install the mod first, then edit as you please.
