Excellent mod for the most part, but I noticed it introduces a scratching sound at the beginning of the run cycle that isn't there in the vanilla sounds. With a weapon drawn, even tapping a move key triggers it, so you can spam it and hear it hilariously scratching away. That said, it's good to see there's people out there who recognize the importance of footstep sounds!

I wonder what would be causing that. Is it for any weapon?

This is happening to me as well.  Build mode is when I really notice it.
Anytime I even lightly touch any movement key, numpad and arrow keys as well, I get what I assume is a footstep sound, but does sound a bit like scratching.  I guess the vanilla game does not make a step sound on the first step?
Just installed this and it was really noticable and annoying. Was kinda hoping there was a solution cuz I gotta uninstall it.  When placing items in build mode using Place Everywhere you have to use movement keys to place or shift items up, down, left, right, sometimes a step at a time for precision, and getting that sound every keypress is a deal breaker.

So I haven't really noticed much, and concrete walking is still silent.  I see in xEdit that all of the sound files that the original game references are identical to the Audible footsteps esp.  It doesn't look like any filepaths were changed at all.  What's more, the data\sound\fx\fst\npc folder with those .wav files doesnt exist, even after reinstalling the mod to make sure.  The only file contents of the mod are an ESP file with no BA2 archives and no loose files as per archive invalidation.

I am only a wee derpling n00b in the world of modding, but I'm assuming it's because of archive invalidation?  I mean, barefoot steps also is only an ESP so im comparing them both right now to see why barefoot works but audible doesn't.

If I'm doing something wrong, please tell me.  The mödders blöd, it flows through me like RADIOACTIVE RUBBER PANTS

The files it references are inside the game's vanilla .ba2 files.

Why are you touching archive invalidation? Let Mod Organizer 2 handle it.

Most likely, you have conflicts to be resolved in FO4Edit.

is there a reason why when im walking in the tar surface the footstep is absent in first person but in third person its audible?

That will be a bug with the animation file itself. There is a similar issue in New Vegas; the wounded movement animations don't have sound in third person, but do in first person.

Unfortunately, there's no documentation on fixing that bug, so I can't fix that.

I'm gonna track this because I noticed there are no concrete footsteps when I play. I use that barefoot steps mod and run around barefoot.

Those mods will work together right?

Yes they do. I use the bare foot step mod and I hear footsteps on the concrete.

Not sure if 'Audible Footsteps' will work with Fallout 4 Footsteps, or if this is what you are after, but Fallout 4 Footsteps Redone fixes the vanilla surfaces sound issue, and adds 18 different cycles to make sounds less repetitive, Footsteps Redone doesn't mention volume level changes, but users have mentioned they are louder but unbalanced. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8922

Nice, love this mod. This is gonna sound cliche and lame, but it maxes immersion for me.

Can actually hear myself stamping through the bush now also. Endorsed.

Hi FiftyTifty .. Wanted to check out this mod. I'm gonna track this mod for now.
    Installed, looked at it via FO4Edit, no errors reported, No conflicts shown, all "green" however;
    - upon load of current save and immediate new save, the game crashes when exiting and you get a windows crash message.
    - upon load, immediately quit to menu game crashes.

Edit: Moved .esp to bottom of the load order, then back up the load order to possibly find conflict with other mod, can no longer reproduce issue. Im got it all the back back to the top, nothing. So much for that. :/

No idea how to troubleshoot this. Unchecked at this time.

    Regards,
    Euther

I've never had problems with my mods causing crashes. You most likely have a fucked mod installed.

Do you think you could take a look at making non-human NPC footsteps audible? Dogs/hounds in particular -.-

I've never had any issue with the sound of animal footsteps.
