Description

This mod replaces the low resolution vanilla textures for power armor decals with proper HD ones. You get new textures for Military, Brotherhood of Steel, Gunner and Vault-Tec decals. These 4 textures can be installed in 1K, 2K or 4K. Additionally, I've included 1K versions of the small Brotherhood of Steel arm emblems. Please have a look at the screenshots where I've put together some animated gifs for easy comparison of the different resolutions.

To be honest, the 4K version will almost make no diffenece, even if you zoom in with a scope. Because I used a resolution of 4096x4096 for my source file, I thought I could share the textures in their original size nonetheless. Maybe some of us are playing this game in 10 years with monitors that have an unbelievable sharpness and maybe than you'll see the fine details and scratches of the 4K varients.

Some nerd stuff: All textures are saved with BC7 compression. This gives the best quality without bloating up the file size. If you want to view or edit them, you need the Intel Texture Works Plugin for Photoshop.

Installation

Just use your favourite mod manager. The installer works with Nexus Mod Manager and should work with Mod Organizer.
If this is your first mod you may want to watch the tutorial from Gopher to get started. If something should still be unclear, just drop a comment and I would be glad to help you out.

Because this mod doesn't use an esp, you can safely install and uninstall it as you like, no clean save requiered.

Load Order

This mod changes only some textures and no plugin is needed so you don't need to worry about your load order sorting.

Compatibility with other mods

All power armor texture mods should be compatible because these decals will be applied on top of the regular metal/paint textures.

About the Gunner paint job

That paint is actually unused ingame. You'll need a mod that brings it back into the game. Because I didn't found such a mod for just that, I've made my own attempt. If you want you can take a look here: Gunner Power Armor Paint.

About the Military paint job

In the vanilla game, only the T60 power armor shows a decal when applying the paint job to the chest piece. If you want the miliary decal on T45, T51 and X-01 power armors too, you need a mod like Consistent Power Armor Overhaul.

Bug fixes

The vanilla paint jobs for the X-01 power armor had their textures slightly wrong aligned on the chest piece. A small part of one of the arrows and a part of the "R13" logo were visible. I fixed that by repositioning those elements. These issues aren't much noticable with vanilla textures but would become more apparent at higher resolutions.

Some of the included arm decal textures are not used in the game. The mod Improved BoS brings them back and show the ranks of BoS soldiers on their arms. However, the textures from Improved BoS are saved in a format that the game engine can't handle properly and tends to crash. At least that happens on my end when the game tries to load a texture with a resolution not divisible by 8. I fixed that by remade those textures from scratch.

To use more of the arm decals for T-60 BoS power armors, you can take a look at Improved BoS from THJT9.
