you forget to tell that food will also heal you, which is great. i hate how inconstance survival is, like why water can heal you when thirsty but food no when hungry. anyway thanks for the mod.
This was the main reason for me, alongside this when you remove the healing from dirty water and up the rads done by food it actually makes the survival gameplay loop make a little bit of sense
Thanks, this never made sense to me since when you're hungry if anything food feels even better and seems to do more, combine with food mod so I can't use it for free healing this is perfect.
According to the changelog they finally fixed a long standing problem when bonuses from a food could stuck at player when he sleep.
From here: "Food buffs become permanently stuck on the player in survival mode due to incorrectly using a perk to hard set the effect values to 0 each time something is eaten instead of using a multiplier to correct it. (Bug #27210) [NR]"
But your mod overwrite this change: HC_SustenanceEffectsTurnOffFood [PERK:000008B2]. My skills are insufficient to understand what both you mod and this UFO4P fix do and how to combine them :-(
Okay I think I understand this now. So my mod "food works when hungry" does not need to be updated and should still work just as it did. I removed the effect completely as an intended gameplay change, while the unofficial patch changes the existing effect to prevent the bug.
If the fix included in the new unofficial patch actually works, that means that my mod actually prevented the survival bug from happening by removing the effect that caused the bug - LOL. Who knew? The entire feature of buffs being disabled while hungry is what was causing the bug.
Very neat info! Glad somebody figured out what was actually causing this.
Hmm... I have been playing with your mod for a very long time and I think I still experienced this bug for a few times. But I'm not sure, probably it needs more testing.
That is unfortunate - If the fix provided by the unofficial patch does work, that might imply there are other things that cause the bug to happen besides this hunger feature. I know certain med + enemy spell combos can cause special stats to bug out sometimes, but that's different. One modder believed that it was caused by the rested bonuses somehow, and I could have swore that worked at the time, but it did pop up again.
I don't believe I am missing anything in regards to what the patch changes, but there's still a possibility that they changed something else that when combined with the perk edit that my mod removes altogether, fixes the problem. The actual bug report on the bug tracker doesn't seem to suggest this, but there's also a few script changes I believe which could contain edits in regards to hunger and food.
I am about to start a new play through and will just be using the unofficial patch in regards to food edits, so I will try to get the bug to trigger often as I play. Normally I play with food buff effects disabled altogether just to avoid the bug, I guess I will see what happens with more testing. Let me know if you discover anything.
this is the mod I was searching for decade ago! seriously no one ever report to bethesda to fix this food f***ing effect missing?! this mod seriously need to get into unofficial fallout 4 mod patch to fix bethesda survival mode lazy ass BS!! >O<
It's not really a bug or oversight. The food you consume in Survival Mode is intended to ONLY sate hunger first, then eating when not hungry will grant effects.
Though I agree it's total trash that the effect somehow doesn't apply or matter just because you're peckish. Thanks for this mod, man.
As fallenangemon0 said, it's not a bug as it was listed in their changes for survival. I personally sometimes use it and sometimes dont depending on which other mods I'm using. Where as something like the unofficial patch I'll use no matter what.
