The definition of "cheating" in single player games - your own opinion. Please remember that before posting anything down in comments. Thank you for understanding.
I couldn't get this to work when installing it with Vortex, but you can replicate the behaviour by setting: [General] sStartingConsoleCommand="setgs iHackingMaxWords 1" in your %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Fallout4.ini file.
If you have more than one startup command, you can use [General] sStartingConsoleCommand=bat StartupCommands instead, and then create a file in your C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\ directory called StartupCommands.txt. Inside the file, just add each startup command on it's own line, includingsetgs iHackingMaxWords 1
Working great for me! I like the idea of it being craftable, but not crazy about the required "Science!" perk - my current character is enjoying Idiot Savant perks with a whopping 3 INT, so I would have to sink like 5 levels in before I could craft it.
To those who don't want to level their INT, I found a work-around with Console commands that will spawn the item for you.
Simply open the console commands and type: HELP VERTIBIRD 4 ALCH -- This will give you the ID tag for the item, it will be the code between the brackets.
Then to spawn it on your character simply open the console and type: 14.ADDITEM ID_TAG_GOES_HERE -- So for me it was 14.ADDITEM 13000F9B
Not sure if the ID tag changes at all, but that should be an easy way for yall to add it to your character without having to spend level-ups into Intelligence. Remember, it will be under AID in your inventory.
