  • Scientists discover new DECAY update - study says

After years of me being a dick to people who complained, I finally felt kinda bad and decided to address the balancing issues of loot and crafting. Might do more in the future if I think of something. Hope you all enjoy.

PS: Was unable to test the patch, but it's really basic stuff and I can't imagine how it would crash....

  • Gone Fishin'

Small thing to let you know that I am taking a vacation from modding. Simply because over the last few years I've modded games more than I've played them. I haven't even finished the main story of Skyrim yet. So, yeah. See you all when I get back. You've all been great to me, but I feel like I need to do this and actually play some games for once.

So take care, everyone. I'll still reply to messages and so on, but expect the releases to stop for a while.

Can't wait to finally see what Far Harbour is all about. ...

  • 2.2 update news.

So I have added a few things for the new update:

    Ghoulpak Mk. I - V
Lets you enhance your stimpaks to heal more. Comes with some side effects depending on which model you make. Each rank of the chemist perk unlocks a new upgradable stimpak.

Ghoulianka - Ghoul-made Vodka. Adds a lot of rad resistance, and if you have the ghoulish perk, it will slowly reduce radiation you have overtime. Meaning you can fully enjoy your radiation healing without the red bar reducing your max health.

Ghoulium - A craftable chem that provides benefits to ghoulish players only. First rank slows time. Second rank increases damage. Third rank increases damage resistance.

And yes, these effects do stack with one another. Making it the best combat chem in...

  • Good news, everyone!

I decided to re-write this article since, in retrospect, I may have offended 45% of the world population. Which I have no interest in doing since they're good people. It was just a small thing where I may have compared Bethesda's lore with holy scripture. Never really occurred to me how that's might be a bit unfair to the scripture. Autism, you know?

Anyhow, clean slate, let's discuss the next update. Long story short, it will contain skeletons. Not full on pirates of the Caribbean skeletons, but fleshy, skeletal ghouls with advanced decomposition. I was thinking I'd call them ancient ghouls.

This is a good idea, and, erm, sorry about before.

    As-salamu alaykum/Shalom,
    Thumblesteen...

  • D.E.C.A.Y Update is live!

Good thing I stalled the release, because sure enough, I got a small bug report.

The viable blood sample for the BoS can now be crafted out of three regular ghoul blood drops in the chemistry set.

I double checked every record to make sure nothing was amiss, so I would not expect any bugs. But you never know. ...

  • D.E.C.A.Y crafting update is being released tomorrow!

Yeah, tomorrow... more like D.E.L.A.Y, am I right?!

Still, big update coming out. With new items, and crafting.

    New loot:
Ghoul Arm (Bones with flesh on them.)
    Ghoul Leg (Same thing)
Ghoul Head (You get the idea)
Ghoul Flesh (Torso/Back/Pelvic region, full of organs to harvest)
    Ghoul Heart (It's a heart)

    New crafting parts:
    Ghoul Serum (Works as adhesive)
Bone Oil (Works as oil... as you might imagine)
Ghoul Ichor (Has a lot of purposes in crafting)
Ghoul Meat (Butcher some ghoul flesh to get smaller bits of it for cooking, can also melt the flesh with acid to get blood)

    New Chems:
Undertaker's Remedy; Cures diseases, adds 60+ rads. Craftable antibiotics with a pr...

  • A point about tech support

Alright, so one of my mods is causing baby Shaun to be on fire, and the console is printing swear words in Latvian.

Well, shit. Time to ask Thumblesteen what to do, right?

Now, I love helping you guys, and doing all I can to make sure your mod
works. But you need to understand the limitations. Such as these:

    - You might be explaining the problem in terminology that makes me think it's a totally different problem.

    - I don't have access to your computer, so I'm guessing most of the time.

    - I have no idea what your load order is, and posting it rarely helps
since I probably won't recognise half of the files on there, let alone
know what they do. Since I'm not the Nexus database.

  • I may have made a slight mistake...

So, I accidentally forgot to replace my own files, and as a result I thought the ghouls were bugged, using vanilla files for no reason.

So, I applied a "fix" to the rotting ghoul by omitting him from the spawn points until I could figure it out. So that you guys could still enjoy the update that I'm releasing today. Since, rotting ghouls are kind of boring anyway, and nobody's going to miss them all that much.

Now, I will reverse the fix, but it would take a couple of hours of testing and so on, might postpone the release until next time I have time to mod. So I kept the "fix".

Sorry about all this. But these things happen sometimes. ...

  • D.E.C.A.Y update and what I'm doing

So, new version of D.E.C.A.Y is in the works. I thought, why stop at textures? I promised better ghouls. So that's what you're getting. This first update will feature a few new things, and here they are:

    - Better ghoul AI. Ghouls will now behave differently depending on their class. Common ghouls, for instance, will stop dodging and lunging so much. Only special and more agile ghouls will. I'll give them a health buff to balance it, though. Ghouls can also roam now. Meaning they have no fixed AI position with a radius, instead they can wander around the map as they please. Giving them a more natural behaviour.

    - First "Special" infected. That's right. The Savage Ghoul will now spawn at level 32. He is more agile and speedy than his common...

  • Modding Politics (And the loud minority)

This is a small article about our community. I've seen the way that some modders who get a lot of attention tend to put you average users in a negative light, and you have no voice of your own in that dialogue. So I want to set the record straight. Particularly after the way you were treated when the Bethesda.net controversy exploded. What really triggered this video was how, again, after the nVidia mod contest, the same complaints resurfaced. I really want to make a small effort to try and, once and for all, put our ridiculous persecution complex to rest.

And since this whole thing is about people blindly accusing one another, I will provide no examples. You can find the tangents and rants out there on Youtube if you want to see for yourself. I just wanted to make this s...

  • I will improve upon these textures, but I won't change them.

All right, so some of you might think I'm ignoring your criticism when you say they're too green or contrasted, as some people have. There's a reason for this.

    Simply put, democracy.

I have 300 comments, or so, writing this article. Along with 4.000 endorsements. So that means that less than 10% wants me to completely remake the textures to look different from their current aesthetic. Especially since a lot of comments have nothing to do with changing the textures.

Now, aesthetics are subjective. It's a matter of preference. Right now, it seems like the dominant preference is how they are right now.

I've been very busy, and I'm slowly getting back to modding. So hopefully I can improve upon the textures soon, an...

  • Slight postponement

I announced this on my New Vegas mods, might as well do it here.

See, thing is, Fallout 4 is popular. Before it was some kind of niche thing for a select group of players who played games according to their preference as individuals. Now, a lot of people play Fallout 4 because it's "cool" or the "latest thing."

And, turns out, those people are insufferable. So, right now, I'm going back to New Vegas until Ubisoft churns out something else to grab these people's attention spans, and the nice, regular community remains.

Because these people don't really get modding. Or how to criticise mods. Idea is, you get a mod, you play it, you like the idea of the mod, but you feel it can improve somehow.

    So you tell ...

  • How to use the new optional sound installer feature.

Don't like the sounds? Here's how to access the new built-in sound removal tool when you install the mod.

    1. Install the mod manually.
    2. Open the data folder inside the zip file.
    3. Drag and drop the texture folder into your mod directory.

There, now you haven't installed any of the sounds.

WASN'T THAT REALLY EASY AND NOT WORTH BOTHERING ME ABOUT?! ...

  • Is the glowing one good now?

Like, I will probably tweak it and make it look nicer. But, as far as the concept and general appearance goes, does it look all right now?

Just comment this article with your feedback....

  • Glowing One

So, if you don't like the current prototype of the glowing one, you can just delete it in textures/actors/feralghoul and any file with glowing in the name, basically.

But, keep in mind that even if it's a WIP, there's more to it than the skull. For instance, I changed his body texture too, and I for one feel it's an improvement. So that'll stay. The big issue with the skull was how it didn't quite fit the head. My low texture settings fooled me on that one when I previewed it in the game.

So, I did some tweaks and now I can run the game with the highest texture settings. It helps how I downloaded a low resolution texture pack, but that's irrelevant, it'll just make the vanilla resolution ghouls look really sharp around all the sli...
