    ANNOUNCEMENTS

Heather won File of the Month for April! Thanks to each of you that voted!

    1. Thank you, everyone for all of your endorsements, kudos and comments! Your support of Heather is inspirational <3

    2. Please keep posting pics of Heather to mod images! I'm loving them, however NSFW images will not be approved because Heather does not carry the "adult" tag.

    3. If you post a bug in the bug tab above please come back to see if I've posted a follow-up question. I usually need more details to figure out it it's a bug and if it is how to fix it. Thank you!

    FAQ

    1. Heather won't talk to me when I first approach her! Help!

    1) If there are any aggroed enemies nearby she won't engage in conversation. Kill everything that is trying to fight with you before you talk to her.

    2) If her esp isn't at the bottom of your load list put it there.

    3) If 1) or 2) don't fix it you can build Heather's cheat/debug terminal (found in Power > Misc) in any settlement and hire her that way. This should overcome most issues.

    4) if 3) doesn't solve the problem (you've hired her but her dialogue still isn't working correctly) then it's probably an installation problem. Delete and reinstall the mod with a clean save away from the area where you meet Heather. That should fix it.

    2. Heather refuses to follow correctly. Help!

    1)  I've heard that there are some Lovers Lab mods available that break her AI and stop her following correctly. I don't know any details, but if you are using some go there to find out more.

    2) If you are using another mod to change her appearance that may be causing the issue.

    3) If you've made a profile for her in Better Companions by techprince that will break her AI. You can have the mods together, but you can't use it on Heather. Same applies to Amazing Follower Tweaks.

    4) Make sure you've removed/deleted any files from previous versions out of your data folder. Old scripts can also stop her from following right from the beginning.

    5) If that's not the problem you can try commanding her to move or change her follow distance in dialogue

    6) if 5) doesn't work you can use her transponder to call her to your position. It has scripting on it that should fix anything gone wrong and get her following correctly again.

    7) If she still isn't following correctly and her esp isn't at the bottom of your list move it. You might try deleting the current install and reinstalling the mod as it could be faulty. Don't do a clean save to accomplish that. Literally just delete the mod and reinstall it.

Hi! Well, first of all, deleting people's comments (mine and from other members as well) that include constructive criticism and suggestions to improve the mod (while still praising the other features of the mod), isn't very nice, don't you think? It's not that we're looking for attention or stuff like that, but merely suggesting something that would improve the mod by pointing out problems that can be quite frustrating (but could still be resolved), nothing more... And speaking for myself, I'm talking about this stuff because I love this mod (despite its flaws), and because of the main character's (Heather's) story, which is very well written, and also because of the voice acting, which is superb, BTW, and mainly because I think that with some tweaks and additions of a couple of more lines to the annoying "Not much, you?", her responses would feel more alive and organic (which she would deserve, in my opinion, along with more varied idle chatter), but there had been a misunderstanding, apparently... We, the mod users like myself, make suggestions about improvements because we care about mods like this, not to bash authors and their work - we're merely suggesting the things that would improve their mods, not asking to create something else entirely... I hope you understand - I'm not a native English speaker, but I think that you get what I'm trying to say, and it's up to you how you're going to react to that - the easiest way is to delete the comment, which you've already done before, but I'm not asking for a reply, either - It's just that I want you to know that I care about this mod and I also know that you take everything that's said about it very personal, and that you're very sensitive about it, because I can only guess how much work you had to put into creating it, not to mention facing all the limitations because of the FO 4's voiced protagonist and Bethesda's stupid AI behaviour, but no matter how good the mod is, it could still be improved - which, like I said before, isn't a demand, since you don't owe us anything, but it's like one mod creator told me recently - "I am of the opinion that by listening to other people's suggestions we will improve ourselves", and that is a response from a humble person who doesn't see constructive criticism and suggestions as attacks, but rather something that will make them even better at what they do - creating great mods that they and us, the players, care about. You don't owe us anything, like I said in my previous post that vanished from this page, and you don't have to listen to our suggestions and criticism either, but simply deleting something without a proper explanation is a little immature - but don't take it too personally now - I totally understand that you have a life (hopefully a good and successful one) and that you're unable to reply to every single comment, and focus on each and every member who voices ther opinion, and stuff like that, but simply deleting comments that aren't offensive and are not including demands for something impossible, is not a very nice move, and it's not going to make things better in any way. Well, I do admit that I made some jokes about some bugs and stuff that I encountered while playing with Heather in the past, (I also considered letting her go at one point, but I was unable to do it since she grew on me too much, despite her occasional misbehaviours), but it was not intended to bash the mod (or you for that matter) - it was all about harmless fun, no matter how frustrating it was during the gameplay. ;) Well, that's the last thing you're going to hear from me on this mod page, so take care and good luck with all the future projects.
    - Cheers! :)

    Hi llamaRCA or JDaremo,
I have been using Heather almost since she has be made available she is may favourite character her besides Willow. I just installed Fallout again and her as well, but now I am having a problem that her main dialogue has been changed to TALK, TRADE, TALK and TRADE. I do not know what has happened to her, I have uninstalled her and re-installed her a couple times and I still have it, the only new mod that have have started using is Full Dialog Interface but I have the patch for that going. Any help would be great. Also the TALK, TRADE problem is still here without the other mod Full Dialog

You didn't import her into a companion manager like AFT did you?

I fixed it!!! The mod that was messing with Heather was Quick Trade by registrator200. I uninstalled everything and turned back on one by one until I found the problem, which is funny because I did that already but I must have put it back on not knowing I did lol

Love this mod and love Willow from NV! Bethsoft should hire you!

I’ve used the Heather mod before in previous installations with no issues. However, along with a laundry list of mods, I installed Heather again (new game, new install, etc.) but she doesn’t seem to be gaining any affinity. I’ve done the actions that should work, but it’s still at zero when I ask her about it.

Are there any mods that are known to conflict, or to mess up the affinity with Heather? I can list the mods I’m using later, when I’m back at my computer. But for now, what might cause this to happen? I am using the no negative affinity mod, but I also used it last time I installed and had no issues. Please help!

Has your issue resolved itself? Unfortunately I don't know of any mods that would/could interfere her affinity progression.

Instead of loading up your list with mods like No Negative Affinity & Companions can Sneak, use Amazing Follower Tweaks. You can set all that in the settings (you can also choose if companions use up ammo or not, If their Power Armour gets Damaged or not, and even customize the Vanilla Companions looks with Presets).
Just remember to never Import Heather into it because it will break her.

Thank you so much for this!

I immigrated from Skyrim (i.e. "Follower Mod Heaven") and was disappointed in the lack of custom followers available. I mod my game with a ton of difficulty mods, so that it's really not smart for me to go out on my own. If I get into trouble I can usually run away, or I can maybe hide and sneak away, but I'm not going to win a battle against 15+ enemies by myself. But if I have a few followers, I can fight and have a chance.

Thank god for Heather. Unlike other nearly useless followers, She's aggressive, she's dangerous, she does what she's told, she's fast and can keep up, she doesn't stand around in the middle of the street with her weapon holstered as the bullets whiz by her head. She get's on it, and it's great.

Oh, and she'll actually use the weapon you give to her and tell her to use. No switching from her MG42 (my preferred mod weapon for her... yes, she shoots from the shoulder with it, yes a tad immersion breaking, but she looks completely badass doing it) to a 10mm pistol when things get hairy :/

    Again, thanks so much!

No problem, and I got to thinking about it, I bet you're probably disappointed that I didn't mention the voice acting and how she integrates into the game. I was just preoccupied with her fighting abilities because I had some trouble with other companions at the time I wrote it who were not fighting, and I having to waste heaps of stimpaks on people who would stand with their noses 3 inches from a brick wall staring at nothing while bullets are whizzing around their heads. Anyways, I felt bad about not talking about her dialog and personality. Sorry about that.

The scripting, voice acting, and integration of Heather's dialog is fantastic. Obviously a LOT of thought and work was put into figuring out how she could blend into the vanilla game completely, and it's entirely successful. She has a personality, and you actually begin to feel familiar and chummy with her. There are other follower mods, including ones that are very popular, that have really limited and/or stilted dialog. Like, very strange and unnatural dialog that's actually off putting. Obviously, accomplishing what you did with Heather in this regard is far more difficult than getting her to fight well. So sorry about not mentioning it. Also, though I don't work as a sound recordist myself, I work in filmmaking and have enough recordist friends who I've watched work recording and editing to know a little about what goes into it, and heather's voice is recorded and edited very well. The sound quality of her dialog all matches, no background hissing, no discrepency between levels, etc... Sound recording isn't easy, and you've done well.

There, I hope I've done her more justice this time around :)

Thank you so much for the follow up :) I'm very happy to hear that her recording quality is reasonably well done. I worry about that more than most other things I build.

Got a bit of a bug, fresh character and I went to go see her after turning on and getting the radio quest,

Head down to the graveyard and I find her standing on the road, when I go to talk to her, she just keeps spouting the same one liner she says when you first meet her, but wont do anything else (Dialog doesn't engage) and her hideout's door acts like it doesn't exist (I tried to noclip into it incase it was blocked, but nothing)

Anyone happen to know a fix?

The refusal to talk could be a few things. Scroll up to the stickied comment at the top of this thread and read FAQ #1.

      Re: bunker access
Heather unlocks the bunker only after her affinity reaches 250 and you've had the conversation with her that happens at that point in the quest.

So, playing FO4 again and my BF was sitting nearby. He heard Heather and said, "That sounds like Llama." He recognized your voice from Willow. Thought you might like to know you're a recognizable star! :)

    Hi llama:
Several months ago I had to uninstall Fallout for making some room in the disk and never reported to you about my new discoveries regarding the subject of Heather being OVERPOWERED. It seemed that it was related to Heather entering in "GHOST" mode and never exiting it. You could set it off by means of the Fallout's console but she would eventually enter in this state again and again. The only fix was to disable the Enhanced Sneak mode by means of her terminal.

I'm writing this message in case you are still maintaining the mod. Sorry for not doing it sooner but I wanted to do some more testing in order to give you more details and then my other duties pushed me away from gaming. Also, I remind you that my version of Fallout 4 was old; perhaps in the newer versions this bug doesn't show up. It's not related to incompatibilities with other mods because this was the only one I had installed (save one for blocking the attacks to the settlements and the Quantum Global Workshop Storage mod) However, it made Heather unplayable at all, because she did all the fighting work. You could toss tens of grenades to her without making her to pass out and she never asked for a stimpak.

I hope to meet you again in a future. Thanks for your mods.
(Note: In my humble opinion, it was a pity that Heather never sang, as Willow did. I would have loved her singing that of The end of the World... )

I can't seem to get her to pick locks. Even the simplest novice suitcase lock elicits no reaction out of her. I do not know what could be interrupting this. She obeys all other commands, I can even get her to stand next to the lock, but she does not interact with locks.
