Even the "less powerful" version seems too overpowered to me. Maybe it's because I play on survival, with mods for realistic damage. Maybe you could make a version that's more inline with vanilla weapon damage for those of us using realistic damage mods.

Also the reload speed is way too fast.

On the positive side though, the weapon and effects look great. Although I can't seem to get the pistol grip with the stock that you show in your pics.

The less powerful version has a base damage near the vanilla damage. I cannot account for every single damage modifying mod that will undoubtedly change the damage output of the weapon. If I did that, then there would be dozens of "Less Powerful" versions on my page. Other factors that equate to the damage model are the rate of fire for DPS and the additional damage types of the weapon which include physical base and radiation on top of the default energy damage. So you have 3 damage types that are goverened by seperate perks and whatever damage mods you may have installed. I created the less powerful mod's damage models with vanilla settings in mind. Not for every single damage mod out there that I cannot control.

As for the reload speed, that is intentional. I wanted the weapon to be fun to use and make the user feel "empowered" with speed and efficiency. I'm sorry if you dont like the reload speed, but if there is enough people asking then I will consider releasing a "slower" version.

As for the pistol grip, please read the description. I listed the link for the mod I used to get the grip.

The base damage is in line with semi-auto vanilla lasers, but they have full-auto fire rates. That's the part making even the low powered version over powered in my opinion. I do think the logic behind nerfing of base damage in automatic conventional weapons is spurious at best. It does make sense with energy weapons though. Capacitors need time to fully charge, and heat buildup is a factor. So logically increasing rate of fire would require the capacitors to discharge before being fully charged, and therefore damage output for each individual pulse would be lower. It's like using high speed synch with a camera strobe, vs a single full power flash.

Or maybe to make it more realistic, you could use the charging mechanic of the gauss rifle. The PlasCore PlasRail mod uses this mechanic as well to good effect.

Just my opinion on how realistically such a weapon would perform. Obviously it's your mod, and you're free to do as you please. I do think there is a good number of people interested in mods with increased realism though.

Well, I'm enjoying the mod, and honestly, it's easy enough for anyone to change the values as they like.

You should state its a cheat weapon though

Edit: nvm I see the less powerful version, still would you mind telling me which mod did you use for the reskin of the gun? because it looks nothhing like in the screenshots, I was hoping I was going to get THAT gun, not a more powerful version of the normal laser rifle

The Skin I used can be found here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/16093/?
Its also in the description. Also the sub title of the mod is Laser Weapon Overhaul. I never stated this was a brand new weapon just an improved upon version of the laser rifle. And if you've looked that the video as well as expiremented with the different attachments the weapon does behave differently than the vanilla laser weapon. I recommend you try the Nova Configuration.

Sure. Im certain lots of folks would like to find it rather than spawn it in console. And If you can fix the muzzle issue I'll be certain to credit you for your fix.

Better idea is to place it into a vendor, save having cell conflicts later. Sometimes adding things to cells causes them to respawn constantly... I'm not talking about the PA bug that Beth fixed either.

Well Im still a total noob at modding, have no clue how to add it to a vendor. A reservation I have about this is just adding it to any old vendor. The is supposed to be a specailized weapon not so easily available in the wasteland... Ideally if I knew how I would rather have a custom stnadalone vendor who sold it maybe. Or make it a quest item of some kind. I agree that cheating it in through the console is immersion breaking but I dont think most folks have an issue with this as alot of other mods are obtained the same way. *shrug* would be cool though

I think I know the answer, but how did you get the blue laser, and if you change it will it affect all laser weapons in the game? I'd like the blue but would like to keep the red for other weapons.

I created my own custom projectiles for the mod by re-edting several of the types of vanilla laser beams. The blue was the vanilla laser assest called LaserBeamLtBlue and LaserMusketBlue. I was using an reshade preset that in the vide made the blue laser have a more deeper color, but by default it was basically the Institute rifle laser you saw. If you look in CK with my mod active and highlight the Magic Tab and type in the filter, "X-" it will bring up all of my created projectiles. If you do change any values it shouldnt effect the other weapon attachments that use it aside from the color. But this is untested so dont quote me on that. Let me know if anything happens if you do decide to change them.

What I actually ended up doing was downloading a mod that allowed me to add the legendary effect of blue lasers to anything, via a few commands and it worked, just isn't as deep blue as yours. I can live with that. What's odd is that every laser uses the sound overhaul except for the two ion rifles I made. Can't figure it out. Played with it most of the afternoon today, instead of actually playing the game!

Thats odd, that its not using the sound overhaul. Are you adding the Mod attachments to a vanilla laser rifle or are you using the DCM rifle with the DCM attachments? Maybe try putting the sound overhaul after the DCM esp in your load order or vice versa? Thats very strange. Ive done the same thing you did by adding a legendary effect to the laser and the sound overhaul still works. I cant seem to duplicate your sound issue. :3

It's honestly not a huge issue for me, I like the gun, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it again and even right after the install before any mods were adding it still had the original sound as opposed to the sound overhaul. I don't have any other laser mods installed. Like I said, not a huge deal, like the mod!

This looks interesting though I fear it may conflict with Weaponsmith Extended. Speaking of which, you should seek out Gambit77 & ask him for advice on how to fix the buggy attachments listed under Known Issues in your description. I suspect the cause being a missing keyword as the most likely culprit. skibadaa may also be of some help regarding the issues you're having too. Both are extremely well-known in the modding community & would be the most helpful individuals in assisting you with your modding endeavors. Tracking this for now.

I dont have weaponsmith installed, so its a very good concern to have. If anyone has weaponsmith installed and get issues with it. I'll reach out to those two and see what they can tell me about any missing keywords being suspect. Ideally I would like if one of them downloaded the mod then looked through it in CK and reported thier findings. In any event, I really dont expect my mod to get too much attention simply becasue its not some high quality custom weapon model that I have absolutely zero skill in doing lol.

Understood. The vanilla lasser/plasma weapons are severely underpowered regardless, hence why I'm tracking your mod to see where it goes.

Im pretty satisfied with the way the laser mod turned out. This is really a small step in my crusade for making vanilla weapons viable. I am looking at Plasma weapons next. Even though Vanilla plasma fairs better than laser, it can still use improvements and "fun" stuff added to its mix for some "wow" factors. I really dont have a set "progression path" honestly I just tend to have spur of the moment ideas. Laser weapon issues have alwys bothered me since FO3. Plasma not so much, since I personally never cared for it. But If this laser weapon overhaul gets enough likes and folks want me to look at Plasma weapons, I'd be happy to.

I hope you break some molds and do something different.
The vanilla laser weapons are pathetic at best for a couple reasons. Under powered is an understatement. One of the things that has gripped me is recoil on a laser weapon?? PFFT, more like to much pot smoke in the studio if you ask me. It might hum a little, very little, but that is about it. Smoke and fog should be things that limit laser effectiveness. Might not want to fire at a mirror. Unfortunately modern gaming seems stuck on 16th century armor and world war II weapons.

I couldnt agree more. My mod has no recoil. As Lasers are just light with no mass. I got sooo ill to my soul to see Bethesda fail once again with the laser weapons. Got so sick and tired of it, I decided to take the reins and make Vanilla Laser Weapons Great Again! Hopelly Bethesda coemsa cross this mod and takes notes for Fallout 5! But one can only hope... Enjoy the mod!
