    I am no longer active as a modder, and this mod is no longer maintained! It was created in the early days of Fallout 4, before F4SE. There are now better ways to handle renaming in the game. I recommend registrator2000's fantastic mod Rename Anything

    Please check the F.A.Q before asking for help in the comments, I've answered the most common questions there. Here's a copy of it:

    Q: Can I use this mod to change the names of NPCs to whatever I want?
    A: Not by just using the base mod, but you can edit it on your own if you have the time! I've written a guide that you can find in the articles section here.

    Q: Why isn't -insert title here- available as a name?
    A: I don't know, but leave a comment and I'll make sure to add it!

    Q: Can you add custom person names, like Bob or Maria?
    A: In order to keep peoples Data folders and the NMM installation uncluttered I've decided not to include person names and only titles/names that are applicable for multiple people. Personal names are just that, personal, and everyone prefers different ones and it wouldn't be possible to satisfy everyone. You can of course add the ones you want by yourself using my guide.

    Q: Will the names reset after I have reloaded the game?
    A: From what I can tell, no. It works just like the SetActorFullName command has worked in previous Bethesda games.

    Q: I can't use the tcl command in the console after using your mod!
    A: For the tcl command to work you can't have anything targeted, like what you do when you select a settler. Try double clicking on something or clicking at an empty area, so that the console doesn't display any name or ID on the top. It should work without issues then.

    Q: I accidentally renamed a named NPC! What should I do?
    A: You have two options: either load an earlier save or add the named NPCs name to the game by yourself. This can be done by creating a MESG record with the NPCs original name and then use SetActorFullName with the FormID for that MESG. I've written a guide on how to do this in the articles section, link here.

    Q: I accidentally renamed MYSELF! What should I do?
    A: There is a way to solve it. Write down your SPECIAL stats and then write "showspecialmenu" in the console. This will open the menu where you select your stats in the beginning of the game as well as letting you rename yourself. What that's done, restore your old stats with the setav-command.

      "Tcl" command can be fixed directly by typing "prid" to clear the selection, as it will not work after clicking on anything in the console.

    Any chance you could add Ada to the companion name fix script section? (Yes, I'm a ditz and accidentally named her "Guard"...)

      Hey, Don't worry man we all make mistakes, Just go to any robot crafting bench and rename her from there

      Sadly, when Ada (or "Guard" she prefers to be called now) is in the robobench, there is no Rename option.

      Yep, the two named automatrons you encounter can't be renamed.

      Aw, that'd be awesome. Something like a terminal that you can choose titles for each job, like how "Settler" becomes "Provisioner" just by telling them to do the thing

    Ive bought several junkyard dogs off the wanderin dude. I was naming settlers Farmhand and such based on their job when one of the dogs walked by. I named her Deputy and now all the other dogs ive bought are named Deputy, but thats ok with me

    Still the best renaming mod in the series. Simple and easy to use, except when you name a table Chief of security.

      Ya retarded response. FYI "Rename Anything" needs F4SE this one doesn't. Fallout 4 VR doesn't have a port of F4SE, and probably never will.

    I'm having an issue with a couple of my settlers. I have a pair of child settlers that look like twins, I followed your directions for making custom names and wanted to call one Heather and the other Jaina, but when I change the name of one, the other also is renamed, so I end up with 2 Heathers or 2 Jainas. Does this mod affect the baseID of the character, because the girls have different referenceIDs?

    I like to rename my Minutemen based on their equipment and roles

    Minutemen Recruit - Minuteman (Random spawn)
    Minutemen Surveyor - Light Combat Armor, Duster and gas mask
    Minutemen Infantry/Cannoneer - Sturdy CA with Welding Goggles
    Minutemen Heavy Infantry - Heavy Combat Armor and Helmet
    Minutemen Ranger or Veteran - Minuteman Hat and Colonial Duster
    Minutemen Armored Infantry - T-45 Power Armor
    Minutemen Doctor - Lab Coat
    Minutemen Quartermaster - MM Outfit only and military cap
    Minutemen Engineer - Mechanic Jumpsuit, Mining Helmet and Welding Goggles
