Ever thought about merging all these reskins into a single mod and allowing the players to change the colors in-game? Hardest part of the process would be making the textures, and you have that part covered.

Nah, probably not. I don't like the way they do stuff over on that page. Also, I don't really like that people can download a mod without exactly knowing what it does, what it contains and how does it do that. With NexusMods you can manually download the mod to inspect the contents(and now you can do that even before downloading) then learn with it.

make standalone versions and each color has different effect like the blue ones does frost damage while the red ones do fire damage

I'v got the PlasmaWeaponsBlackB 0.2 The weapon texture changed (and it looks awesome) but my plasma is still shooting green plasma beams... Does this mod suppose to "recolor" the beams itself?

As I said, I've tried to change it without success. Right now I'm focused a little bit more on my studies, I'll try to look for it during the weekend

May i make a suggestion? Pure white, aka the Institute-themed (although not grey but brighter white would be better) rifle with black wires and non-glowing stuff, plus darkish red "muzzle" bits.
It's unfair that the Institute has no modifications of plasma weapons of their own. Brighter white is because of... reasons, i guess? I have all my mods making all "Institute" stuff brighter, then originally (color example: http://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/1151/images/3789-1-1448907237.png). But i'll still welcome even that dirty gray'ish original Institute "white", if you so choose to do it.
    ...
Come on... please? I know it must be somewhat easy to you, now that you've made a couple of them reskins of this stuff. Basically you can open a texture and slap white color all around except some certain places... which would be black and dark red.
I'd even paint it myself, if you wish - i just don't want to fiddle around with all those bethesda extractors and dds. Just send me a link to a picture in Photoshop workable format, i'll return it recolored, and you make the dds out of it. Please? I need it so much!

Probably when the boys of nifskope learn how the textures and materials work over the meshes. I don't know how to modify the materials as of yet

I liked the blue version but, the lack of a matching projectile bothered me. So I used BAE and pulled all the alien blaster projectile, muzzle flash, impact, blue firey death(alien blaster crit effect) and ash pile meshes out. I renamed them for the various relevant plasma meshes (wasnt a fan of the goop effect) and placed them in my FA4 directory under data/meshes, it all works fine, except I still have a small amount of the green goop effect left near the bodies next to the ash pile and the lighting effect played by the muzzle flash (while near surfaces that will show it) is still green. Just a suggestion if finding other ways to do this is proving awkward.I left the sounds unchanged, reminds me of the old Quake 3 arena plasma gun now ;P

That's actually a great idea, I'm trying that as soon as I get back from college. If it works and it's ok with you i'd like to include that in the mod(crediting you).
Also I changed the sound to star wars' blasters. But I don't know if they will take the file down if I do so due to me not owning the sound(FE, I also changed the alien blaster sound to padme's blaster and it's soooo sexy)

Feel free to do what you like with the info, I didn't do much, just renaming and moving some files around. One nice thing is it keeps the plasma projectiles speed, because the one the alien pistol uses is a bit on the slow side. Only real difficulty is if you wanted to recolor it to say red for one of your other versions, probably need niftools or something similar to muck with those, on the plus side you could use the laser disintegrate thats already in game, just need a way to make the alien blaster shot match. As a side note you may want to leave any SWs sound files out, things like that tend to get flagged pretty fast (even tho i agree they sound WAY better than the default laser sound). Nice job on the textures by the way.

Its actually in meshes not textures, open the meshes ba2, effects/shaderparticles the one you want is CritLaserFXSP.nif the alien ones in there too depending on which you want to replace, in your data folder add a Meshes/Effects/ShaderParticles and extract the one you want, BAE should actually create it for you if you tell it to extract to your data folder then just rename the effect you want accordingly.

The thing is that i'm not sure which one it is, I'm stumbling in the dark with the file names, so unless they EXPLICITLY say "plasma" somewhere in the file name, I have no idea which one i should give you. The ones that I edited were "plasmafluidgrad.dds", "plasmagrad.dds", "plasmagrenadegrad.dds", "plasmaimpactwave.dds" and "plasmathrowergrad.dds", and all of them did either nothing or messed up the particle effect once I changed their color form green to blue. Maybe I need to save them in a different dds format?

probably. only certain file types carry alpha properties (such as DTX5). what program do you use to make the edits.

I use photoshop with the dds tools. I'll try it using the DTX 5 format

Ok, i've managed to get some of the particles shot blue, but not the projectile per-se. Great recomendation with the DTX5

Perhaps the better idea would be swapping out the meshes for the plasma projectiles to use the ones from the laser projectile. It would limit you to only the red variant but it would at least give you one complete retextured version for now.
