(2/21/18) ATTENTION! I had no idea people still downloaded this mod as much as they do, I personally think it's too basic for any kind of extended use right now. As many of you know, I am currently rebuilding the mod from scratch, adding features, redoing animations, etc. I would personally recommend you wait for that to come out if you want a SCAR-H in your game, but I will leave this version up until that time comes, for those that still want to use it. Just be aware that it has issues that I'd rather fix by completely remaking the mod rather than patching this one. Thank you for all the support guys.

Keep in mind this works not only with SCAR-H mod, but any weapon mod who isn't working with Lowered Weapon, but need to choose the weapon type properly inside Lowered Weapons (the SCAR-H uses submachinegun animations, so keep this in mind too, i.e. if another weapon mod like a rifle one have issues with Lowered Weapons you will do the same procedure but choosing the files for rifle inside Lowered Weapons)
Please follow the steps below
1) The file you've downloaded from SCAR-H page is a zip file, so extract this file (right-click him and choose extract to folder option) on any folder you want; rename this folder to SCAR-H MODIFIED like I did
2) Do the same thing with Lowered Weapons zip file, put his files in another folder
3) Now inside the folder where you have extracted the Lowered Weapons files, keep opening the sub folders until you reach this folder in your windows explorer --> \meshes\actors\character\_1stperson\animations\submachinegun
4) You will gonna see two files: wpnidleready.hkx and wpnrunforwardready.hkx. Copy those files and go to step 5
5) Now go inside the folder where you have extracted the SCAR-H zip file (step 1) and keep opening the sub folder until you reach this folder --> \meshes\actors\character\_1stperson\animations
6) You will gonna see to sub folders: SCAR and SCARForegrip; you need to paste those two files you have copied in step 4 on SCAR folder only, choose to replace those files when your Operating System asks to
7) Now you need to backtrack to the root of the folder where you have extracted the SCAR-H file and keep opening the sub folders until you reach this folder --> \meshes\actors\powerarmor\_1stperson\animations
8 ) You will gonna again see to sub folders: SCAR and SCARForegrip; NOW THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT, from the files you have copied on step 4 you will paste only the wpnidleready.hkx on SCAR folder, you WILL NOT PASTE the wpnrunforwardready.hkx from Lowered Weapons's \meshes\actors\character\_1stperson\animations\submachinegun, but you WILL COPY AND PASTE the wpnrunforwardready.hkx from Lowered Weapons's \meshes\actors\powerarmor\_1stperson\animations\submachinegun on SCAR folder; choose to replace those files when your Operating System asks to
9) Now all you have to do is add the SCAR-H MODIFIED folder to a zip file (compress it) and add it using Nexus Mod Manager or whatever Mod Manager you use
That's all, you're good to go!

This gun mod is way to loud. the bolt back and bolt release sounds are so loud that they hurt my ears. This is an issue that I have found with many other gun mods, and it's a shame this one has the same issue to.
Would you use a SCAR in an apocalyptic setting knowing the bolt carrier group would slam your optic to death? It's all well if you have a very rugged optic or HWS like an eotech or an elcan spectre, but if you don't what if you're shooting and then *blip* your illuminated optic goes out right when you're about to pull the trigger again. Would you run a SCAR knowing eventually it will murder your optic setup, and you won't really know when.
The whole SCARs kill optics is overblown in epic proportions. I have run a SCAR 17 in harsh conditions with High and Mid/Lower tier optics, I have never had a failure. That is several thousand rounds. To your statement though, I would not use a SCAR with a s#*! optic in the apocalypse, irons would work until I found a mid tier or better optic.
This is my absolute favorite weapon mod for Fallout 4. I just cannot play without it. Felt like endorsing it wasn't enough after playing with this gun for years. Much love.
Even though alot of weapon mods are all outdated (because 2021 & 2022 was the best Fallout 4 weapon mods year) This SCAR-H is still the very best SCAR-H out there of today.
Man, how far time flies and I used to like this gun at the earliest modded playthrough of FO4 (I have my endorsement to the author because, why not?), but at this rate, if the author doesn't respond back after 2021 announcement on the mod description, most likely this'll be the final version without any redux/remaster on this legendary gun.
Besides, there are other, better, alternatives to this gun with wide array of attachments, one of them is the SCAR family from COD MW series (heard the COD name of it was TAQ-56 or smth like that, I never played COD series of games later than COD MW Remastered).
I personally prefer Subleader's SCAR-H as it uses it's own custom anims, not CoD anims that like to grab your camera and shake it around every reload lol
I'm not sure why nobody can get this right. But the weapon is a H-SCAR for starters as well as being a 30-06, not a 5.56mm. a 5.56 is just a 2.23, in other words. a 22. That being said the Ammo fired through a true H-SCAR is 30% larger in Diameter and the bullet ALONE is half the length of the brass for the 5.56. So to put it in Fallout 4 terms most of you can understand. Damage rating, a 5.56mm (M4 Carbine) 85 dmg. A 30-06 H-SCAR 270 base dmg. Getting the picture? Also when working with 308's people really need to get that right. There is no such thing as a "308 Blackout" That's fiction. You've got a Remintion Ultra Mag (RUM) Winchester Magnum (Win Mag) Weatherby Ultra Mag (308 Weatherby), 308 Vanguard.. I mean it's not hard to search the caliber and case size that is actually fired through these weapons. Yet pretty much nobody can get it right. So disappointing when you download a very nice looking weapon mod that's so horribly unrealistic.
I may be late but for anyone who came across this, this dude is mistaking the FN Hersel Scar H (MK17) for the Ohio Ordnance Works HCAR which is literally a modernized 1918 BAR (chambered in 30-06 as they stated). Plus, the SCAR has both a 5.56mm and 7.62x51mm variants: SCAR-L (MK16) and SCAR-H. Either this or they are actually stupid.

If lowered weapons does not work for you, use Button Lowered Weapons instead. It does the same thing and more.
I'm not doing 3rd person animations.
More than one alternate barrel probably will not happen.
The animations change when you add the angled foregrip, not the quick eject magazine.
I DONT do third person.
