Hey, this mod doesn't work. I can't play basket ball at all.
Just kidding! This game is replacing the Sims more and more, in a good way. The Sims series has a horrible engine. Sims 3 was out 10+ years ago, and my new computer "cannot handle" the performance. (Unless you play a small town with midsized household with not a lot of building). Having a large land with a castle is going to bring framerate to 10fps. Game is laggy and choppy, taking 20 min to load a save (yes, 15 min for me, for some people it may be 45 min). I suspect 100 years later with much better hardware, Sims 3 still lags. Now FO4 can almost replace it, with the only thing missing is cars.
Have you seen Marcy Long or Preston (with full long coat) on the Pommel Horse? I love what Bethesda gave. Now only if they could do more similar items of the kind: a basket ball hoop for example, just to allow 1 NPC playing hoop by him/herself would do. Same engine mechanic, just change animations.
I would welcome a working pathfinding for npcs in the first place... Seems like placing a bed 2 levels above the ground gives my settlers mass insomnia...
I won't pretend I know much about the actual working experience with FO4 objects and animation scripts, but my general knowledge with game programming and some experience with Sims 3 modding + Unity programming, I would say that ... if you ever want to consider tackling this at all.... you start with one of these pommel horse or weight lifting bench and copy/change their values. Replace the mesh of the pommel horse to something else, and then change the animation and script. And of course, the hard part would be making the animation looking real (without a proper motion capture tool).
I occasionally walked into a local studio that does motion capture for video games or movies. Their equipment (usually around 8 cameras) and all the sensors would cost something near 100k. Although now some indie filmmakers can build a budget kit for around 5k. Anyway, I am not expecting you to do any of these
Having trouble making this work in my load order anywhere, it's one of only 3 thins I can't get out of over 200 mods. I think it might be incompatibility with SKE, would you mind looking into that? I appreciate any time you can offer towards this, I really want to get this mod to work, thanks!
It uses a vanilla category (decoration/floor decorations), no scripts, no modifies. Shouldn't be incompatible with anything... as long the category still exist in your game...
If you make any item from scratch I guess I can apply materials and textures to the nif, but I still need the reference texture from the 3d program you use to fill it properly... I believe. Forgive the pun, but this is a pretty new... field... for me.
The major problem I see with this is that it's a soccer field. The game is based in the New England area of the United States. It wouldn't be a soccer field they made. Either a basketball court... baseball diamond... or football field (American). What few soccer fields exist are primarily for small children. Not trolling... just being honest.
I see your point. Fact is this mod is quite lore unfriendly starting from the idea, so adding an "uncommon" sport field is really the tip of the iceberg. Anyway, I'm working on the first update, it will hit the nexus later this week with tiles to build tennis, american football and, possibly, rugby fields. Stay tuned.
Would love to see post war brown textures for the grass, as I think Pre-War stands out too much in the wasteland... Also, with Diamond City around, posting this mod without Baseball is a HUGE error (no offense).
I'll change some textures for a more lore friendly style, if I'll get some time to do it, but not reading carefully mods descriptions is a HUGE error too (no offense).
My only problem is time, too bad I had this idea when summer's over... Anyway, (grass) tennis field may need just one or two tiles more, the football tiles should adapt quite well.
And yes, some more sport fields are already in the making...

If anyone is interested - I've made a Settlement Menu Manager patch for this mod so that it has its own menu in the workshop.

Anyway Ethreon, do you want to make goalposts, corner flags or proper baskets for the fields? It would be awsome.
Seriously, take it like "I'm too bored to do anything else", I've got 150 unique downloads, this silly mod hardly deserve your time...
We are joking fellow americans, I hope nobody is offended by a meme. Anyway, I'm Italian, feel free to go on with pasta, pizza and mafia jokes.
LETS GO CHIEFS
On a side note, I would love an American Football gridiron tile set.
Would you be doing other fields like:
Tennis
Volleyball
Track
Bowling
Hockey
Extreme (Skateboarding/BMX)
Maybe even add in items to match these sports fields. Good Job.
And yes, some more sport fields are already in the making...
