Just happened across this mod on a now reinstalled playthrough of Fallout 4. I stayed away from power armor for a long time partly because of this, so I will be downloading and endorsing.
Does anyone know if there is a mod that prevents PA from auto swapping fusion cores? I want to have to eject from the armor and slam a new core in when it runs out without having to either trade a companion or accessing a mod backpack inventory
That would require some scripting. I would peruse for any power armor redux mods. I never liked power armor, so I have no experience in the matter. I prefer CROSS Pre-War Cybernetics
I don't know of any mods that do exactly what you describe. If your intent is to avoid losing cores when they're depleted, the Rechargeable Fusion Cores mod gives you a "spent" fusion core once it runs out that you can take back to the workshop and charge in a dedicated machine. But if you're interested in it for some other reason I'm afraid I don't really know anything that would be useful.
Hell yes! I always hated that bit of the perk. The empty cores would always shoot out your back like a nuka grenade and then mini nuke everything behind you like your companions and kill them, along with other allied NPCs that'd start fights. Plus it just never made sense in the first place like where's the explosive energy coming from if the core's empty? I can imagine some people loving the chaos but for most players this simple mod is a god send, nice work
Bruh thanks, I had to reload a save because I pressed alt and had a fusion core eject while having the dialogue stuff with father ( to tab out, with alt+tab )
Well if we talking about realism, Fallout 4 has nothing realistic about it, if it was realistic you would be able to use only a few guns with power armor and the whole weapon and armor balance would have been completely different. It wouldn't be hard to write a book about how unrealistic f4 is, so exploding fusion cores are really just a small irradiated raindrop in the glowing sea of unrealism. The mod is great though, accidently murdering anything around is funny at times, but usually only forces you to save scum.

The mod is great though, accidently murdering anything around is funny at times, but usually only forces you to save scum.
