Interesting quest. Short and fun... I have to ask though... what the hell was the significance of the Vertiberds in this? I know it's from this mod as Vertiberd don't exist in my game yet. How or why do cannibals have Vertiberds? Oh also, Too much of a coincidence. I say Bob's daughter dies sooner or later: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26610 This is my canon now. Young girl, brown hair, yellow dress, bears, Northwest of Sanctuary? Toooooooooooo much of a coincidence. Daughter sooner or later becomes a synth.
I didn't get vertibirds, I just got about 10 cannibals plus 10 feral ghouls, all of which my 15 sanctuary residents (with bugger all automated defences as I'm early in the game) easily took out. Maybe another mod you have gave them to them, or you're later in the game and they've discovered flight?
When I found Bob's daughter alive, I couldn't talk to her. The game is still telling me to search for her. Yet getstage on the quest (called tutorialquest) tells me I'm past the end of the list? It's at 35 and 30 should be the last entry.
EDIT: Reloaded a save from a few minutes before finding her, and it worked the 2nd time. Bugthesda strikes again, at least the bugs are random and not repeatable.
Man I really loved this quest, short and fun but well written with interesting options. That ending as well... holy s#*!, my Sanctuary was not prepared, but the ensuing conflict was one of the best fights I've had in my three years of playing Fallout 4. Thanks!
Fallout 4 is a bit weird with save files jkkennedytv, it's something I've been learning in testing this quest.
If you are starting from a previous save file which already had the quest mod installed at v2 (and it wasn't working for you) it probably won't work. If you start from a save that is "unmodded" or a save that you know was before v2 was installed then it will work.
There is a solution to this however in saves that are having issues! So follow these steps:
1. Disable the mod in the plugins.txt by removing the *
2. Load your game (it will tell you the quest is missing)
3. Save the game and quit.
4. Enable the mod in the plugins.txt file by adding the * in before Tutorialquest.esp.
5. Load and it should be working.
I've been looking into ways to force the quest to start in save files where it is bugged but there doesn't seem to be a way to force this within the mod so it all happens in game.
I myself am having issues with this with a couple of vanilla fallout 4 quests on my xbox with the cabot house quest line. The Cabot House bug has been fixed, but I would need to go to save from before the quest was even loaded, which could potentially mean starting a new game (as a lot of quests start when you begin the game even if they don't appear in your log). Luckily, it seems being able to disable and enable to mod with the plugins.txt means there is a solution to this issue where it is essentially unsolvable with vanilla Fallout 4 quests.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention Kellogg2, I've gone through and found one of the reference alias's was having issues preventing the quest from starting in a fresh install of fallout 4. I've fixed this and a couple other things. The new version is V2.1 please download and let me know how you go.
I downloaded your new version and ran it. Nothing changed. I talk to Bob and he just stares at me super confused.
Is it because I managed to kill the cannibal in Vault 111 at the very start of the game since I had started a new game with this mod activated the other day.
Hey Guys, new version out, significantly longer, and the end should be a bit of a surprise. I tried quite a bit of scripting so hopefully you like how it progresses. If you've tried out the old version I think you will like the new one, its quite a bit better.
Enemies are a lot tougher, and there is more variety, I suggest a minimum level 50 character
Good suggestion Hamluc, I've already had a go at doing this but will look into it further, the Fallout 4 conversation system is a bit annoying and it seems quite difficult to get this to work without having all the conversations with scripted camera positions and paths.
it might be smart to handle the talking more like skyrim have the option to say stuff but after that you dont see you're player saying and it directly goes to the other person
As I stated in the description you will need to turn on dialogue subtitles to see what is being said.
However, I have a feeling you are straight up lying about the power armour and Bob being killed.
1. Bob is a protected NPC, therefore, the only person who can kill Bob is the player themselves ie. It is impossible for what you to say to happen. 2. The quest does not use power armour in any way shape or form. ie. It is impossible for what you to say to happen.
Senel I suggest you check your game and what mods you are using before claiming a new mod is destroying it. At this rate you will tell us that a texture change has caused your computer to install the apple operating system.
ps. New version coming out soon. Quest is going to be quite a bit longer and will be suited for level 50 and above players.

Endorsed and the bad ending was funny.
