Hey everyone, I thought I'd save someone else some trouble and just alert potential users of this mod that it causes significant fps drops in downtown boston, along with minor fps drops in other areas. Trinity tower runs around 21FPS on my 2080ti with textures and enb disabled.
I went through every individual mod on my LO to test these same cells (my LO is about 500mods of varying kind give or take) and found this to be the one single culprit.
I would bet it interferes with precombines in DTB, and even overwriting it with PRP and patches does not alleviate this.

I don't think the author is around anymore or at least not supporting this mod, so I dont foresee a fix, but I do hope this saves someone else the hours of time to discover the issue. It certainly wasn't high on my list of suspect mods.

That being said, if youre running a very lightweight LO this mod is very cool. I have used it on and off for years on smaller LOs with less of an issue.
    Cheers!

      You didn't read the description?
It says right up front that it disables precombines, which is the #1 way to obliterate your FPS.

I have a lot of mods that disable precombines, used them on and off over the years (have a good rig, so disabling them doesnt really tank me below 30fps in the very worst spots) and do always expect some stutter in DTB, but THIS mod in particular has actually been the worst culprit Ive EVER seen, and I make massive 700 mod LOs regularly that mostly run like butter lol So yes, while it says "disables precombines" in the description, there are a lot of other mods that do the same without THIS big of an impact. Thats why my comment is still relevant!

So its not meant to be disrespectful of the author at all, this mod is awesome, I still recommend it if your pc can handle it, but if you're getting insane stutter even with a lightweight LO with this mod installed, this could likely be your culprit. Just trying to save people time!

Coming back in 2024 because I tried it out again with more experience in modding and patching, just to say this lol because I still cant for the life of me get this mod to behave. If its one of the only mods in the LO my fps drops to a whopping 16 in some places in cambridge, something Ive never seen in fallout.

I wonder if a newer version could be made with Base Object Swapper and perhaps that would improve its performance? :o

Hey, thanks for the heads up on the axe tool here. It works great. Do you think it ever to be possible for it to be a physical axe that you'd need to hit the tree with?

I tinkered with a few other options but the current one turned out to be the most reliable and stable. I wouldn't mind a more immersive way if I can get it to work without drawbacks, but I wouldn't count on it.

This is a great little mod - can't imagine playing without it at this point, especially in surival mode. Thanks very much for making it!

for the past couple weeks now I've had some performance issues with my game, not all the time, but when walking around downtown it's been dropping to 15-20's where I would normally get 30-40. Out in the wild it's mostly been fine. I've tried everything from updating my video drivers to unchecking all mods. The culprit? WorkingSinksandToilets.esp I tried going back to version 1.0 of the mod, and it seems like it was a little better, but only when I unchecked the mod did my performance go back to normal. Do you have any ideas I could try to fix my issue? I really REALLY don't want to remove your mod from my load order because I think it really is that fantastic. Perhaps the game is loading all the sinks and toilets all the time? I don't know. I am really bummed out about it

Well, the problem might be that simply changing the object references from broken to working ones means a LOT of edits to cells and worldspaces - which causes some inconsistencies and issues (some world objects in edited cells become invisible for example) and is likely responsible for your bad performance. Nothing I can do about it unfortunately, because without these edits the working sinks cannot be distributed throughout the world.

I tried to make a version without direct cell edits that would use a scripted aid item (some kind of wrench), using which would "repair" sinks and toilets a few steps around the player but couldn't get it to work so far.

The only idea I have to improve it for you without disabling the mod altogether is not quite practical, if you know how to use fo4edit you could try to remove records from cells where the drops are significant but I doubt it's worthy and I cannot actually guarantee it would help...

Thanks for the reply, I suppose i'll uncheck it for the time being. I am hoping to do some PC upgrades in the near future (that new AMD sounds pretty nice for $200) that will hopefully bump my performance up. Such a great mod, it deserves many many more endorsements than it has.

mod author should be more willing to help you out, sadly he dont appear to care much if any about youre problem or how to help make a performance patch. i can help hopefully, go into the fallout 4 ini, and edit shadow resolution from 2048, to 1024. that helps most people. bethesda made the texture resolutions higher because they was trying to hide the playstation 3 generation graphics caused by the 1999 gamebyro engine being renamed and passed off as a completly new game engine to get out of spending the time needed to make a nextgen game engine. so with a 1999 graphics engine, with minor untested tweakes. fallout 4 has bad visual cartoon like textures, mixed with high resolution textures to try to make it look more modern. they did the same with skyrim wich still has over 2 thousand unresolved purposly ignored lag and popin problems from gamebyro. hopefully the shadow boost mod will help you too, and ttry the performance textures mod. mods keeps fallou 4 alive.

@jeyjs: Aren't you a ray of sunshine? I will not delete your offensice post in case it proves useful to somebody but I will not take any crap from you. Maybe you should rework all mods on nexus to increase their performance and answer all questions anyone has if you're such a smartass but alas some of us are just mere mortals and have to only work with the knowledge we have - so take your bullshit about not caring or trying to help someplace else. If you have some advice or constructive criticism I am glad to hear it but I being friendly and polite is the only way it will work. This way you only make people pissed and then they actually might stop caring and answering to players' comments. Have a nice day!

I use vanilla meshes so it looks just like vanilla - however Bethesda placed them, so they stay.
